iirc, the vaults spit out rewards randomly. No need to wait for things to cycle through. That's just there to show you what's possible. You can fight the spawners multiple times, but the vaults are one-time only. And you're right, you do need the ominous bottle to fight an ominous trial and get an ominous key to open the ominous vault. lol
I have been so out of touch with Minecraft lately. Had no idea these trial were a thing until I saw Ted’s blind run. 😅😎
It is fun seeing this from your eyes, all the trial chamber stuff I've seen has bee highly edited, so it is great to see it from start to finish without knowing what is going on.
I'm not sure if it works the same as Java, but I've seen the use of stacked wool carpet. Basically dig down two blocks, stack one on the other and the mobs read it as a hole that they can't go over.
Trial spawners have a 30 min cooldown. If you drink an ominous potion they reset immediately and give you tougher mobs, but if you defeat them you get an ominous trial key which opens the bigger vaults.

I can't stand that they nerfed the enchanting table. And that all the new enchantments CAN'T be obtained through it. Yesterday I spent 60 levels and got Prot3 and Knockback2 like half the time. They are basically forcing everyone to build a huge trading hall (a.k.a. lag machines) to get all the books you can't get. And now they added all these other enchants in trail chambers for that silly hammer. Ok, rant over.
It is a bit discouraging and frustrating that the enchantment table isn't as effective as it used to be. I have half a mind to start a series using Console Edition on the Switch. It's not available for purchase anymore (hasn't been in a while), and so perhaps that would carry a bit of novelty.
