BEVERLY BREMERS - When Michael Calls (1971)

For reasons unknown, even to our friend, Beverly, it seems this great song has never been posted. So we are pleased to share it now.
Here is how Beverly explains what happened:
"We were moderately pleased with how 'Don't Say You Don't Remember' did in mid-1971, but in September, when it seemed to have run its course, Scepter released my next single, 'When Michael Calls'.
"For some unknown reason, a radio station in San Jose began playing 'Don't Say You Don't Remember' AGAIN, and they started getting a lot of requests for it, and so they kept playing it.
"Then other stations jumped on the bandwagon, and so did the label and the distributors.
"Unbelievably, 'Don't Say You Don't Remember,' from a few months earlier, was now headed for the Top 20, and ultimately a Gold Record Award.
"Meanwhile, 'When Michael Calls' was completely ignored. Scepter literally pulled it before stock copies were made. It was as though it never came out, and of course it is now a collectible."

I have this exact 45! Always have loved Beverly’s music and wish it had been compiled properly. A lot of her single only releases are tough to find!

Is the B side by any chance "Toy Girl"? Supposedly one version of the 45 had these two songs. "Toy Girl" would be one of very few existing examples of the work of composer Margaret Harris. I'm working on her biography.
