    I am so thankful to have spent my childhood in PT. Art, music, literature and a community that encouraged true American ideals like freedom of thought and expression... not to mention instilling a love for natural beauty by being immersed in one of the most naturally beautiful places on Earth. Port Townsend will always feel like home no matter where I happen to be living.

      Thats funny, I have a brother named Nick and we grew up in Port Townsend and Chimacum. No matter where I go in this world that will also always be my home. From Dogs a Foot to water front pizza, the rose theater the uptown and the drive in. I went back 2 years ago after being gone for far to long. I stayed in the Manresa Castle and was blown away by how much had changed but stayed the same.

      Old yes but for those of us who grew up there its so cool to see people we knew like John down at Dogs-a-foot and Jim. He would come into the restaurant where I worked after it closed and talk about his adventures climbing Mt. Everest. The Sea Galley which became The Surf before the demolished it. So many memories. Anyone who was lucky enough to grow up there knows what I mean.

      @Documentary Partners I was being sarcastic… I would be interested to know who this "woman police chief" was. I have always found both city and county police to be fair and helpful, but then, I am one of those godless liberals who believes every person has a right to their own beliefs, including you. I welcome you here, just do not presume to tell us how to live. If it offends you, perhaps this is not the best place for you… namaste.

      @@noahcantrel4025 Why do you hate God who created you? Dont you realize that you are created in the image of God? You are hostile to God because you love your sin. That is the truth. You are dead in your sins and the wages of that sin is death. Sin separates you from God.

      I can attest, I lived in PT 5 years, went to Middle School, started HS there. The chief of police was allowing his brother to operate multiple meth labs within city limits. Until one blew up and the investigation started. There was also child trafficking. I knew a girl who was trafficked by her own meth head mom. Like all places, it has many skeletons. More good memories than bad.

      Wow. I guess you don't like it here. I assume you have left? Since it doesn't suit? I hope you find a home that gives you the sense of comfort you need.

    • @galewallis7618
      @galewallis7618 7 років тому +3

      I do feel sorry for conservative people who live here -- they are indeed out-numbered. Having spent considerable time in Oklahoma, I know how it feels to be the minority. It isn't comfortable.
      As someone who actually works at the Coop, and have done for over 30 years, I wonder if you did indeed get "dirty looks." I imagine what you got were inquisitive, startled "who are they" looks -- we don't get groups of six, we don't get many suits and ties, and we don't get many high heels. Your group would indeed have been a curiosity.
      But dirty looks? I doubt that. I suspect you were uncomfortable and projecting your discomfort onto the people around you.
      By the way, I find it strange that you say you aren't insulting the town -- that you will "never speak poorly of the town." Can't say that you are describing your behavior here accurately.
      Also, I'm not one of the few "normal" people here. I'm a proud member of a great, imperfect, mostly liberal community. We are all normal.
      As are you, in places where you feel comfortable.
      So it is back to what I said originally -- you just don't like it here. That is okay. I'm not comfortable in Lawton OK. It's not "my" place. I'll bet you'd like it just fine there.
      Thanks for your good wishes. But perhaps I only got them because you had a misperception of the person you are talking to.

      Documentary Partners needs to go to some upright religious community where "licentious behavior" free expression and individuality is actively suppressed. Perhaps Mennonites, Amish or some others would welcome you.

    • @noahcantrel4025
      @noahcantrel4025 5 років тому +1

      @Documentary Partners The people here do not need religion to know right from wrong, it only requires empathy. And most of the businesses highlighted are still here and the owners love this town as do I still after over 40 years. Sure I loved the quaintness of the town four decades ago, but it is naive to think any place can remain that way. Perhaps this is simply not the right place for you… I know I would not be comfortable in a place where my behaviour was dictated by other's morals.

    • @noahcantrel4025
      @noahcantrel4025 5 років тому +2

      @Documentary Partners You continually mention licentious behaviour and extreme liberals. Yet who is it who is shooting up churches and temples and schools and shopping malls and kindergartens and mosques? I don't believe anyone has the right to dictate nor judge the behaviour of others if it hurts no one. On the other hand, it is the agitated religious bigots who feel the need to kill people who are different from them, refuse them service and attempt to regulate their bodies. If you do not condone any particular behaviour or act, you may choose not to participate in it. That is what the bill of rights and the constitution is about. You admitted that the people here always treated you with respect. Your formal dress (by PT standards,) may have attracted some attention, but you concede no one was rude nor did they refuse you service. That does not always hold true in more conservative areas. I would hope you would feel welcome here, but if you are disturbed that our morals may differ from yours then this may not be the town for you… namaste.
