Great video. Thank you sew much! My studio is in my basement with an unfinished ceiling. I have also hung bungee cords with clamps from the ceiling and have found it fantastic when I’ve quilted a larger quilt. I haven’t done quilting with my embroidery machine but I think I’m ready to try it out this month!
Thank you so much. Your demonstration and explanation on how to use the Acufil system was very clear, concise and methodical. I also appreciated the demonstration on how to place the quilt in the hoop before stitching out the next section of the design. This has now given me confidence to try again on my 500e.
Very good instructions. Yesterday I watched JanomeMan from Life Janome Canada. Between the two of you I will be trying this. You may want to check out some of his suggestions for this method. Glad I came across you.
I have just watched your demo of in the hoop quilting. I like how you thought through the mistakes. I am wontwring whether an additional stick directly onto the quilt template when moving might make this process even earlier. Also... I am looking into a buying a small gazebo, erected in my sewing room, the canvas top removed, and bungee clips attached where needed to support the quilt. I think the quidelines in the centre of each block is essential, and am happy with the frixxion pen. A light stream ironing will remove all the marks. Thank you for an Inspiring video!!!!!
I bought this Edge to Edge book, too. As I worked with it, I found out that some of the designs before 2018 had to be revised because they were off by 1/4 inch. She has not told anyone this, unless you complain to them on their website that their designs don't line up properly. So make sure you buy only her books and designs that are revised, as of 2018. You can also buy stick - on paper from D.I.M.E., and print the templates, and stick them on the quilt to line them up.
@@Gzluweez Same here. I spent hours trying to line it up right and asked them several times until they finally sent me to a link where you can get the revised versions if you want them. I was furious by that time.
Thank you so much for this informative video. I've been working on the Horizon 12000 and the Acufil system. The procedure is the same but I've only tried it once several years ago. Now I'm inspired to try it again with a quilt design other than stippling.
A very informative video. I have the Janome 11000se. I experience a lot of the similar frustrations. I have done a couple of table runners and could see where I need to be more accurate in my placement. Excellent job in your explanations. Thank you
Thank you for this video. I have a Janome MC11000. I could not figure out how to quilt with the accuquilt hoop. I feel less frustrated because of your wonderful video. I am off to do some practicing.
I have really enjoyed this video. I also have the edge to edge book and have the Janome 14000, just like the 15000 without the wifi. I also have the quilting hoop and AccuFil. I found that AccuFil only works with the 70 designs that came with the software. You cannot use external designs with the software. However, I used the quilting hoop with the small designs from the edge to edge book with success. I just didn’t use the AccuFil software. Kept the hoop attached to the machine and lined up the starting point to the prior ending point. Worked fine. Thanks so much for your videos. I have learned a lot from you.
Great video! I am going to buy the 550E, and the acufil. This is the best video I have found, regarding the acufil. Did you complete any more quilts, using acufil?
I have not and I was using the Janome 15000 for this video which I no longer own for a variety of reasons- I have a separate play list about the major problems I had with that machine.
Great video. The embrilliance software has the option to print a-copy of the pattern which you can do a very similar thing you are doing with the acufil and it works for any machine. I’ve been working on doing the same thing on my multi needle. It doesn’t resize or give you an overall detail for your whole quilt like acufil does, but I think you end up with the same results. There is a free download that you could test the software.
I have used that program but now I have Artistic Digitizer by Janome and it is working fine for my needs. Thank you for offering the suggestion- there may be others that will want to try that program.
Debbie Thompson, from Power Tools with Thread, who uses the Ameile Scott system, has a couple of great UA-cam tutorials showing her system. She does not remove the hoop from the machine when she changes the design placement.
Yes and no- some of the dies on the Accuquilt web site have embroidery files to do the applique with; I have tried those and I find they do work but not as well as the way I usually do applique on my embroidery machine- I might at some point in time (don't know when) do a video about this.
@@theidiotquilter sorry, I was meaning the hoop system you used in this video. A program called "Edge to Edge Quilting" on your machine by Amelia Scott Designs. I was wondering that system and hoop would work on the 550E?
I have watched the video again and the other program is called Acufil. You mentioned you had it on your 15000. I think that's what I was wondering if the program would work on the Janome 550E. I cannot find the hoop ASQ 22 in Australia. The Janome website in Australia doesn't have much in the way of accessories unfortunately.
@@KeithLeggett-k6e I have not tried it on the 550E but that system was really, in my opinion, a waste of money. Also if you are trying to quilt a quilt larger than a baby quilt on an embroidery machine I don't think you will have much success- I certainly didn't. Janome tries to make it sound like you can but they do not have any videos that show a full size quilt being quilted on one of their embroidery machines. I think they tell you this to simply sell machines in my opinion.
Thank you for your video! I got more from your video than all the hours I've spent on other videos. I have a Janome S9 and based on your video I'm feeling confident I can do this on my current quilt. Quick question - would you recommend stitching in the ditch BEFORE doing the quilt in the hoop? I've seen some videos that do this but do not see the necessity. THANKS!!!!
Jean w it depends on how large your quilt is but doing some stitch in the ditch before you do the in hoop quilting helps stabilize the quilt so the layers don’t move around too much which will create tucks
can you use other quilting designs in the aqufil Janome programme such as the edge to edge designs that you showned earlier as I can't seem to load any other quilt deigns into the programe so guess this makes it somewhat limited. Enjoyed your video Thanks Hope you can answer my question.
You can if you have Artistic Digitizer which is a very expensive program. There may be other ways but if you look further on in my video list you will see I no longer have a 15000 machine so I am not sure anymore what you can do with the program- sorry I know this is no help to you. You might want to do a search on You Tube for other videos from other people that talk about the Acufil system.
I bought the snap hoop monster from DIME and you would be amazed at how fast you go. Not sure it would fit on you machine. Worth investing if it does. The hoop will cost you between $200 and $300 but worth every penny. There is a video.
Hello....I am enjoying your videos...this one was great! The problem I have is figuring out the Acufil program.....I find their instruction very confusing. Can you help?
I also find it confusing and I do not feel comfortable giving a tutorial about this since I no longer actually use it because I got rid of my Janome 15000 but here is a You Tube link you might find helpful: ua-cam.com/video/pg2lahu8rpI/v-deo.html
Have you ever done it? The machine I was doing it on I no longer own and it had precise positioning and still it is very difficult to get it exactly right but maybe you know something I don't?
Best video, finally something i can understand . Thank you.
Wow! You have way more patience than I do. What a great tutorial. Very informative. Thanks Steven.😉

With the 15000 you don't need the cloth setter because your hoops come with a grid system.

How did you open the Amelie Scott Designs files in Acufil? I get a "Failed to create design data" error when I try.

Check out my other videos about it- you will find the answer in them.
U need to calibrate your hoop so the hoop will automatically line up with the needle over the hole
Have you tried the new embroidery machine quilting designs from designs by juju
I have looked into them but I can also create my own using Artistic Digitizer.
