- In today’s video, we purchased Universal Studios express passes to see if they’re worth it or not. Especially when the parks are slow! If you’re headed to Universal Studios Orlando and are considering purchasing express passes, this video is for you! We spend the afternoon riding as many rides as possible with the unlimited express pass, including 3 turns on Men In Black, before giving our final verdict. We were down in early December and stayed at Portofino for the free express pass. One thing I enjoyed about having express for our entire stay was that we weren't constantly going to make sure we got in all the rides. The slower pace enabled us to enjoy some of the shows that we didn't see when we went to Universal last time.
I completely agree with you. We stayed a week last May and are going back in May this year bc we had so much fun. We stay at HR though just to have a short walk to the parks. When you go for that long and have express pass you really don’t worry about all the rides in one day. We did Popeyes bilge rat barge like 4 times in a row bc it was so hot then went back to the hotel got dry and went back lol
Oh absolutely! Express gives you so much freedom on your trip. Once you experience the parks with express, it’s so hard to go without it!
I have to stay at a premier resort for that “free” express! The fact it’s on velocicoaster is great but I wich they would allow it on velocicoaster and hagrids with a one and three hour cooldown respectively
Express are gold. I would not want to go without them. But my patience for crowds have deteriorated over the years. Thank you for your channel !

I actually really like the way you do rides and don’t show POVs like other channels. I’m trying not to be spoiled for rides I haven’t been on and I’ve had to pause and skip through a lot of other videos. You guys are doing awesome!

Express is always worth it. Not only just for the sheer amount of rides & re-rides it allows, but also for easing the stress of your day. You don’t have to micromanage so much & fear that you will miss something. If it came down to it I would eat ramen for a week straight to be able to budget for express pass (thankful I don’t have to though)!

On our recent trip to another nearby park, as soon as we got off one ride we were pulling up our phones looking at wait times for the next ride. "Oooh! That wait's under an hour! Let's run over there before it gets long!" I don't want to do that again!
@@duvalfamily4605 We make it part of our budget every time. Otherwise we know we would just be disappointed. Aside from Hagrid’s & Velocicoaster you can go with zero plans & still be able to hit everything. Being from out of state it is more cost effective for us to book one of the premier hotels vs buying express individually because we are usually there at least 5 days.
The video you guys did in the past about how much you can do when its crazy busy or without express is worth its wait in gold!! Everyone asks and an updated video to that would very great since it only seems to get busier every year at Universal.

My friend Julia rode Men in Black back to back like 4 or 5 times at HHN 30. She absolutely loved that ride, and refused to stop going back for more.

We recently stayed at the Hard Rock and having close proximity to the parks combined with the express passes made it so much more enjoyable than Disney. I love how you can just enter the express line and don’t have to reserve your time-this allowed us to go from ride to ride easily. Cotton Candy-IDK
We totally agree about the Disney comparison. Having to reserve times and always have your phone is frustrating! We love that you can just go at Universal and don’t have to plan everything!

okay, mummy vs gringotts is TOUGH! Theyre both so fun and have amazing immersive queues, but im team mummy all the way. The track itself feels longer and more thrilling, whereas Gringotts feels slightly more screen-focused and theres only 2 sections I recall with thrilling track elements. That being said it was still a hard choice!! I love them both and that Gringotts drop got me so hard the first time hahah
Right?? I honestly think my decision just depends on my mood lol. We totally agree about Gringotts not feeling as intense. The story is so good, though!

Definitely worth it! Especially for people only coming for a day or 2 or that really love to ride things multiple times. We went for 5 days last summer and had FP 4 days and as a family of 5 , me, my husband and 3 teenage sons we rode everything several times.

That’s the one Tyler got and made me split with him! 😂 he got it heated and realized he likes it better cold after he got it. It wasn’t bad! I’m not a mustard person, but still enjoyed it.
My sister, my Aunt and I actually bought express passes today for one day. We are seasoned ladies yet we wanted to enjoy the rides for one day without waiting for a along time. We had a fantastic day…covered a lot of rides and enjoyed the parks. After yesterday and waiting in lines… the fast passes made today awesome!

Not sure why Universal wont allow people to record, but I have seen other you tube videos where the rider will insert a "previously recorded by universal" version of the ride? Not sure if this makes sense but just a suggestion. Also, I love hearing your comments about what you thought of the ride, favorite part, eg: front row, etc. Always great watching you guys have fun in the parks!

hi, phones can fall and hit someone or fall onto the track and cause safety problems. they film in private and definitely not with a handheld cell phone. hope that clears things up
I am a huge fan of the channel! I would love to see a video of you guys having fun in Springfield. Maybe not the ride since it does cause motion sickness haha but the stuff around Springfield would be nice! You guys do an amazing jobs with tips and tricks for Universal. It helped my gf and I a lot when we went in September.

Also I know you guys can't film on the rides but Universal has stock footage for every ride in HD & in POV. You can always insert some clips if you feel like things are redundant in videos like these where you ride rides over and over
So what’s funny is that most creators do that, but it’s actually gray area in copyright law. We’ve done it on occasion, but try to avoid it as much as possible! That would be amazing if they made those videos available to use, though!!
Thank you guys for not doing the ride POV’s! It is overkill on UA-cam with them, however, there is one exception, and that is when You Guys Rode Velocicoaster, because that was hysterical! Also, always bring a sweatshirt just in case lol

I love yalls videos. As far as not being allowed to film. Id say talk as much about line experience....all i got
It would be cool to see this idea but taken up a notch. Like one of you go in the Express and one in regular and see how much time it actually saves vs what was predicted. Or get another couple to go with you and do it so no one's alone in a long line.
Another idea is to interview other park-goers about their experiences or tips or recommendations.
Also, I know you guys already have a lot of them but the money saving tips are my favorite. So maybe more of those but get into specifics (like showing what Express costs on a Tue vs Fri or Jan vs Mar, or the cost of a 4 night vs 5 night onsite stay) or for those who live far enough away if we should do a vacation package or book separately or get an annual pass but show like in a graph or something the comparisons.

The Mummy is totally better than Gringotts. I just did the VIP tour with my son and got to go behind the scenes on the Mummy and it was the coolest thing ever!!! Gringotts makes me queasy.

I would turn down the noise in Marvel too!!! Its way too loud, IMO. My son loves Marvel, but he cannot handle how loud it is in that area! He spent our first trip there rushing to get out of that area with hands over his ears. Next trip, we took a bag of earplugs, and one day when we forgot them we learned that they actually sell them in the gift shops. You have to ask the cashier and they pull them out of some drawer to sell to you (like its a secret lol), but if anyone else has issues with how loud it is and you don't have earplugs, ask the cashiers!
Agreed. And the music clashes with the land next door. Awful. I wait in Port of Entry for my family when they ride Hulk. Or Cafe 4, LOL.
Oh that’s good to know! They do that with things like deodorant and bandaids, too. We’d never thought to ask about ear plugs! I (Anna) use them sometimes during HHN because my ears are so sensitive. We totally understand your son’s pain. It’s crazy how loud it is!

Who knows! Lol it’s still so popular, it’d be a madhouse with express.
Editing tip: when you get off the ride and are talking about it. You can overlay it with some b roll of Pov on the ride that universal or other creators have recorded just source it on the video, since you can't take the camera on the ride.
Thanks for the feedback, Ty! We have occasionally used footage from Universal or other creators with their permission, but the copyright rules are a little shady with things like that. Lots of people do it without any issues, but we try to be rule followers lol.

The only downside i found with Fastpass is missing out on some of the fab theming and pre-shows leading up to the ride so sometimes the single rider line if available is a better option. If you have already experienced this and want to get through as many rides as possible then Fastpass is the way to go!
That’s a great point! We always recommend going through the standby line for each ride once just to experience the queues!
We stayed at RP at the beginning of our trip during the second week of Dec. Regular wait times weren’t too bad, but we still had a blast with Express. It made the end of our trip feel so painfully slow 😅

I got the Express Pass for me and my 4 family members back in 2019 in August. It was $120 a person, but so worth it. We started in Islands and then went to Studios and rode about 14 rides in 1 day. Probably could've done more, but inclement weather and some delays prevented that. But if you've got the dough and plan on spending a long day at both parks, buy the Express.
The express makes everything so much easier! 14 rides in one day is a lot, especially in the summer!

Using fast passes at any park has caused me to do a lot more walking than just standing in one spot. Mummy kills Gringott's.
4 of us are staying at Royal Pacific for one night in September for $400. On the day we check in, we can go to the desk at 7am, I believe, and get our room key to gain early entry and Unlimited Express for that day AND the next day. The cost of those 2 days of express would run us $320 per person. Instead, it's only $100/person, including the room.
Getting a premier hotel for one night is an insane value for the express alone! Especially if you have 3-4 people in your group!
@@ThePughTwo even with only 2 people, it would be $150/person with the annual pass discount. Now, the next night, that room increases by $150 since annual price discounts are done. for a while.

I would def. get the express pass if I was going with someone who hadn't been before or hadn't been on many of their attractions. But what I wonder is most attractions also have a single riders line and it's so much quicker than the regular line.. but if having express passes you use the same line as single riders except they will let y'all ride the attractions together. Last time I was there I didn't notice an express line, maybe it's a new idea.
Single rider is great! It is a separate line from express, and the downside to single rider is that it’s not guaranteed to be open for any specific ride at any given time so it can be hit or miss. It’s still a great time saver when it’s available!
"TYLER, IT'S ME!!" lol. Hulk front row is definitely the best. My wife and I wait for it 100% of the time. Both of your options to remove from Marvel are on point. They were the two things I immediately thought of. If you to kind of record on the rides you can purchase the sunglasses with video capability. I don't know how it would work to get that footage into your videos though. Great video as always. And Express passes are definitely worth it (one of the main reasons we always stay on site at a premiere hotel)

About the filming on rides dilema. I have wondered if there are some rides Universal allows filming on. I've seen other UA-camrs who do respect the rule and there will be some rides that they say they can't film on so they don't. But then some rides like ET and rides in Seuss Landing they will record on. Either way you guys do an awesome job and I enjoy how you edit the videos. It doesn't seem awkward to me.
That might be the case. I've also seen some channels that splice in POV footage but at the bottom it says "Courtesy of Universal Studios" or something like that, so perhaps Universal has some footage they allow vloggers to use? Regardless, I don't have any problem with the way you guys make and edit videos.
Their official rule is no recording on anything. We have recorded on the Seuss Trolley, but I think that’s the only “exception”. Also, we learned a while back that using Universal’s footage of the rides is kind of a gray area as far as copyright is concerned, so we try to avoid it as much as possible now. And thank you! We’re glad it doesn’t bother you! Lol
Front row in the hulk...100% its so rough in back
Gringotts feels longer! But with the addition of Velocoaster and Hagrids, I'd say those are my two favorite! Also, November is a fantastic time to go - the longest we ever waited for anything was like 30 mins with the exception of Hagrids, and that got down to 80 minutes.
November is the best!! And as sad as it sounds, 80 minutes isn’t bad for Hagrid’s lol
I think it’s worth it. Not just for the convenience of getting on rides faster but I personally don’t do well standing around in the heat.

Love express but never have bought the tickets. Only got them at premium hotels.
Consider after a ride that is Exciting , shakes you up abit, angling the camera to the side or upside down to emphasize this. Very good Videos , Keep up the good work. 😎

Like another commenter, I would love for you guys to do a video where one uses express pass and another stands in line to see if it is REALLY worth the outrageous price of the Express pass. As for not being able to photograph on rides...it really doesn't bother me. I don't mind a little generic/Universal supplied POV to show a few highlights, but not having any is okay too. I am mainly here to see what is new and what the park is like. Love the videos...keep them coming!

We always stay at a deluxe resort for express and that is the best value anywhere in Orlando. So we always like the hot fudge. I’ve learned so much from your vids the last year or so. Another great vid guys.

Such a fun video! Really made me wish we got to ride the mummy last year because it’s one I have never been on… and the great movie ride was ONE OF MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITES when we used to go… I can’t wait to ride this year! The Great Movie Ride was at Disney's Hollywood Studios, not Universal lol. They sadly got rid of it in 2017 and replaced it with Mickey's Runaway Railway.
Downside to Express Passes - you miss some of the pre-shows/waiting queue areas that are cool. Upside is you see alternate entrances and paths (like Kong and Spider-Man)
That's the best part for me ...can't stand pre shows!
Oh we totally agree! There are some rides you just have to do without express at least once so you can experience the entire queue!
Gotta look at it this way though - we would stand in line for 45 min for any ride at Universal or Island of Adventure before we would wait 45 min in line for a ride at a park like 6 Flags.

Typing this in my hotel from my day 2 of universal, did everything minus a few rides in one day, so I'd argue during quieter times you dont need express, though for sure I did consider it as no queues for sure sounded nice.

If you have the money to spare I really suggest to use Express Pass. Being able to redo a ride multiple times in a day is really fun. Especially if you don’t live close to the area. Since everything is expansive when going to Universal, I always add the Express Pass to make sure I can take full advantage of the day

If you want to record on a ride you can use the new ray ban camera glasses. Not the best quality but it gets the job done

We actually just went this Monday-Wednesday and we LOVED Gringotts and the Mummy was a total let down for the time we waited (55 minutes). Overall though we used your videos to guide us through this trip with ease and took many tips and tricks you two shared.

Anna, I so love the hat! Yes!!! Hot fudge is always awesome. Last September we had express pass and rode the Hulk in the front row six times! 😂 Gotta love it. Great video guys! ❤

I moved to 2 hours north of Orlando in April of last year. After visiting a few Disney and Universal parks for the first time in a while, I think we're going to end up going with Universal annual passes. I'll look into things like Express Passes after we make our big decision, so videos like this are helpful.

I just checked and they’re trying to charge $259 for one express pass not including the ticket to get into the park! No park is worth over $300 for a damn ticket for one day!

I am seeing an obvious rise in express pass prices as the premium hotel prices have increased concurrently. We are annual pass holders and really enjoy the discounted hotel prices, but it’s easy to see the play here. Raise express and premium hotels as park attendance increases. It’ll be interesting to see how Epic Universe is thrown into the equation.
We couldn’t agree more! We’re super interested to see what they do with express, especially in regards to the hotels!
If you see it at a cheaper price prior to coming. Get it, have seen it jump or tremendous in a short span. Have seen it gone up to $372 and sold out. Families were upgrading to premier AP just for that Express option.
Oh we totally agree! Express can get crazy day-of. We’ve seen people pay $400+ per person for it in the parks.
