Good to see the main gripe I've got with the original Mondial jacket, that being the cuffs, has been addressed. Shame it's still only A rated though. The trousers still seem a bit too baggy to me, but other than that I'm really pleased with my 1.0 and the 2.0 looks like a sensible evolution.
In the pics provided by Oxford the flaps are grey wich looks nicer and (more important) helps to get seen. Is yours a pre version or could one order it either way?
The jacket shown in this video came from our stock at Sportsbikeshop and we've checked with Oxford, who've confirmed this is the final design. They are going to update their imagery to show the correct product. So, to confirm... buy an Oxford Mondial in black/grey and it'll look like the one in our video. Cheers, Tony
@@sportsbikeshop Thanks for cecking back! But it is a pitty they chose the dark hence less visible flaps :-( One could now almost just as well go with the totally black version.
Im a big fan of the original Mondial suit, ive ridden in horrendous weather in it and it kept me dry. Gripes with the first version were, neck a little low and and the cuffs were a little to tight. Overall very impressed, are you going to be reviewing the new Stormland? Be very interested to hear how this compares to the Mondial 1 and 2
Thanks for the feedback on this. I will be reviewing the Stormland, yes. I've got a bit of a mission coming up soon and the plan is to take that suit to see how it gets on. Cheers, Tony
I agree, I get wet around the neck and then wicks down and end up with a wet chest. The cuff zips have failed twice, both times they replaced the jacket. The laminate does wet out and then you get cold. I wouldn’t buy again
It's about priorities at the design stage I guess. I'd say Oxford wanted to make this jacket more flexible, and more affordable, than they could create if they needed the jacket to reach the AA level. If your priority is toughness then their Stormland (£399.99), Hinterland (£329.99) and Rockland (£249.99) jackets meet the higher AA rating. Links to our reviews below... Stormland: ua-cam.com/video/76smSsvzAV0/v-deo.html Hinterland: ua-cam.com/video/x5WC18VowGA/v-deo.html Rockland: ua-cam.com/video/GKk8hnNh7xM/v-deo.html Cheers, Tony
@@sportsbikeshop cheers Tony, just bought the Hinterland suit from Leeds store, seeing as it's now £380. Stormland looks excellent, just couldn't argue against the Hinterland at that price!
I prefer the form factor of the Mondial over the Hinterland but the single A CE rating isn't very reassuring to me unfortunately. Thankfully the new Stormland suit seems to split the difference between the two in terms of layout. In particular the Stormland trousers seem promising with the front and rear vents! Looking forward to seeing the video on that suit as I haven't seen one in person yet.
The argument against it is that someone might already own a back protector from a previous jacket so why increase the price to cover something they don't need? It's a complicated issue and I can see where you're coming from. Cheers, Tony
I contacted Oxford about this and they said their research with female riders came down against the peel-back vents. They said: "Female focus groups don’t like things which draw attention to or emphasise their chest area. Chest flaps which open up 'hello boys' fashion were a no-no!!" I hope that helps explain the reasoning. Cheers, Tony
Picked this up today at your store 😙👌 brilliant service from the staff. Thx

Hi Tony,
Would you be able to do a video showing the jacket zipping up with the jacket etc?
Cheers
Rob
I this to replace the Advance one?

I've had the Mondial jacket for 2 years and found the neck isn't high enough as water ingress down the top.
@happytrucker 1000 Mondial 2.0 or the version before?
@@larifari4371 Mondial 2
@@larifari4371 dude said he had it for 2yrs, the answer is obviously the 1.0 seeing as the 2.0 is 5months old

How is the 2.0 version only a single A on the ce rating??

I agree the single A rating isn’t reassuring, albeit the Level 2 armour is welcome. Oxford should develop an AA-rated Mondial 3.0.
The Oxford Hinterland is only £30 more and is AA rated. In fact it is only £200 for the blue on SBS at the moment!
Form factor...😂
Back protectors should be included as standard.

Got the ladies version. Pretty gutted the ventilation is not the same on the ladies 🤬
