Looks brand new I finished the rebuild on my John Deere 68 now I’m looking at a simplicity sunstar hydro 20 or a John Deere 318 or 400 thanks for the vid

It sure does! I'm glad to hear that and I hope you learnt a lot. Looking at those models, I'm not familiar with the simplicity...but the JD's are solid machines! Both are nice and powerful (The 400 is similar to this Bolens, just weighs a bit less)

I am wondering about the front shaft on the Kohler engine. Can you tell me if the engine has the extension shaft bolted to the engine flywheel face ?? One more thing fella, where did you get the Bolens dash label made ?? I am surprised you found one or had one made. Your attention to detail is really first class, especially the zip ties trimming. Saving one hand from a cut is most certainly the thing to do fella. The exhaust pipe is a real nice touch for sure.

The Kohler engines usually don't have a crankshaft extension. Since the flywheel on most garden tractors is facing forward, Bolens and JD were always able to use the standard crankshaft that's coming from the engine.
In some cases, like on the Onan 318 John Deere tractors the flywheel is facing the operator and the driveshaft for the hydraulic pump is bolted directly to the flywheel. The opposite side of the crankshaft then had a short 3-5 inch extension.
This crankshaft is standard for most K532's unless you had a welder/generator or bobcat application K532. Kohler offered different crankshaft ends, but no stubby shaft (different tapers and shafts with keyways).
I always trim zip ties as they can be razor sharp if you leave them snipped with a side-cutter. Thanks for watching and leaving a great question! Regards Andreas

Don't you need a muffler on it. Will it hurt the engine with out one?

I have a exhaust pipe for this Bolens HT20, but it was removed in this video. Running without an exhaust is not the best, but it will not necessarily hurt your engine.
It will be extremely loud and therefore you might want to bring the noise level down. I hope this helps😃👍🏽
