I don’t think I’ve shown how to swap out the aux springs on a KTM in a long time, so here you go. I prefer the red spring in these bikes, but many prefer to stick with the stock set up, which is the yellow spring.
Special thanks to my $10/month patrons on / dirtbikechannel

Oil won’t come out when you do this if you leave it in the normal position. Tried and tested

At a GNCC I watched the KTM Factory mechanics do a trackside clutch swap.
    Laid bike on the side
    Zip zip zip cover off
Grabbed the basket and plates, smoking
    Dropped new ones on
Zip zip zip, throw cover on, and bam. Only took a minute

Hey mate, fantastic video. Do you have any idea of the feul consumption differences with the different springs?

If/when you ride at lower elevations (1500ft or so) do you still like the red spring?
I'm curious how the elevation effects the severity of the "hit"

I just got a 2016 husqvarna te300. Me and the tankerman (tankerman is the UA-cam channel you want to see). My first problem was the stator. Just no spark whatsoever. After I replaced the stator. I made sure the red power valve spring was in. Then I flushed out the power valve adjuster. Mind you I have a husky te300. 2016MY. Back out the power valve adjuster and go get it boiz

I think your explanation is not correct Kyle :)
The AUX spring controls how fast the PV opens not when it starts to open.
The Pre-load spring controls on when (which RPM) the PV starts to open.
Please take a moment to read about it here: www.kreftmoto.com/power-valve-tuning/

It's more power just right off the bat. Red is easier controlled for you faster riders too.

I've never had oil come out.

    • @beneagles007

Then yours was not overfilled. Good job on the oil changes. We usually drain off the overflow screw which is lower than the powervalve.

You can make power valve adjustments but maybe not spring changes. Go find your power valve and back out the brass screw for more power. Screw it in and the spring is tighter to make the powervalve engage later in the rpm range. Hope you understood that. Get back to me if you didn't. I'd be more than happy to help.

Yes, you can adjust it, but there or no springs two swap. Its basically in the same location. There is 8mm bolt that unlocks the cover. Its like 30 mm or so. Brighter aluminum. You take that off. Then you adjust the large anvil in there. You have to remove one of the covers to look at the height of where the arm is set. There are marks on it. Depending on the year this is likely the same. Here is a video for the 200. My wife has 99 125exc and a 13 200xc-w and its the same. Here is a good video on it. ua-cam.com/video/UMWzkILwJzY/v-deo.html The 200 and 125 share the same bottom end from 98 to 16. 17 and saw a redesign on the motor with the new chassis.

Have to say.. I think you cant be fast in _real_ enduro with red spring. Clock doesnt like too agressive riding style... I think red is for fun to motocross tracks.

      @Danman1972 5 років тому +2

I used to ride time keepers... none left around here. All restatrt. I use the red spring with a fmf fatty. It opens the power valve quickly. No real hit amd makes the power a smooth pull. I also keep the map in the low position. Even in the hot map its still nice and smooth. No surprises. Very linear.

There seem to be a lot of ways to increase low end on these bikes, would you suggest changing to the red spring first as a way to get more power down low, or going with the reeds, pipe, head etc.
answer seems kinda obvious since the spring is free, but is it more like "being on the pipe" sooner or do you get more grunt with the spring change?

      noControl on the pipe sooner.

The Green spring will give you more down low power and have the top end come in later, I ride mostly single track do that what I'm using in my 300exc

Dude Kyle..you need to do a 38mm PWK short body carb with the STIC metering block. Never mind the SC and Lectrons..they are cat shit compared to the PWK/STIC combo.
