@bigstackD Casting You lost a little weight when you did your sanding on the ingot, if you didn't save the scraps from it. Not sure if that would amount to 0.024 kg or not.

The missing part is the zinc that, during the melting process, reacted with the oxygen, becoming zinc oxide, which went into the air
Did D weigh the filings from when he ground and polished the bar? That would have contributed to the missing grams too.
Also the sand may have retained water and then evaporated
@@youraveragejoe7644 good observation, it could also be that
That green flame should be a clue.
I was wondering about that. Not sure if cartridge brass is like free machining brass which is just a bit of lead added to the alloy. I think that would oxidize at these temps too and cause a loss of weight too
So I have a question. How many melts can you get from a propane canister? I’m interested in doing this for all my aluminum cans and such.
about 3 fiddy
Depending on the rarity of the caliber, some of those cases may be worth more than a USD each. I'm assuming they filtered for that before sending the box.

@@PatrickPierceBatemanI am not talking about what is happening now. I am saying in some societal breakdown collapse, WORL, SHTF type apocolypse. The ammo plants will be shut down. stock piles of horded ammo will become the new gold reserves.
The manufacturers have nothing to do with it being over priced.
My wife works for a sporting goods store and they are still selling ammo at pre 2020 prices but just limit it to 1 box per customer and are making profit just fine on it. Typically a crate of 5.56 or 9mm sells out within 2 or 3 hours so it is instant return.
Distributors and retailers are taking advantage of production shortfalls and serious increase in market demand. Once the 7 million new gun owners interest in shooting wanes and people who have been buying and hording any chance they get have a stockpile of more ammo than they have shot in the last 20 years (I know ppl who have bought thousands of rounds and havent fired their weapon more than a couple times) the supply with go back up and profiteers will evaporate further stabilizing the market, it might take another 8-24 months tho.
