I have never lost so many fish!!! Lure Fishing and Hand Hauling The Fishlocker Lobster Pots

  • Proof that it's not always as easy as it looks!! Haha. Sometimes things are hard work, but if you remain focused and positive, things can turn around and I caught some wonderful fish. Moving some new lobster pots offshore, lure fishing on reefs for hard fighting Pollack then hand hauling our Fishlocker lobster pots yielded some wonderful food for the table. A perfect reward for a hard day at sea.
    This video will lead onto a visit to Spargos Kitchen.
    Here are links to some of the tackle I use in this video, I hope it helps.

      John - At about 05:50, the waves and surface motion really started getting sloppy and you were still playing your fish while firing up the motor to control the boat. THAT is the sign of an experienced and knowledgeable fisherman that knows his limits and equipment. Well done!

    Nice one thanks John, especially the "Fishlocker weather reports"! I thought you were going to need a Golfing umbrella on a cuddy mount! Shame about the missed bites. When you hooked that Ling, I was willing you to reach for the net, you usually do when it's something special. At one point as you went to pull it in over the gunwale, I seriously thought you were going overboard. 😮😮 Nice haul of Pollack to make up for the missed bites, & a tasty Lobster - I shall look forward to Capt.Jim doing his thing with his Pollacks! A+ Marvellous entertainment, you tough it out in your boat and eventually start to catch the Ling and then the pollock. Typical of you they all go back bar the damaged one (which never goes to waste) so conservation covered. Then you haul the pots show us the different colouration on the Lobsters, keep one and v notch the female. Stunning views of the shore line and beautifully edited. I would have been walking on Bodmin Moor on a day like that, there is something about the moor being so desolate that goes with windy rainy days. Thanks for posting on another lousy rainy day in land.

    It has to be said, it hasn’t stopped raining ☔️, or blowing a gail force winds for the last week. The BBC forecast has been rubbish all week. I get better forecasts from you to be fair.. Thank You so much for this video.. I’m not to sure if I’ve ever tasted Pollock , trip to the fish monger is in order. Stay safe and God Bless. R

    Don’t worry John, I’ll let you know when I’m out from next week and you’ll just have to pick the other days! Every trip out this year for me has been like this. The trip back from those fishing grounds has been bumpy to say the least! I had no idea you could ‘nearly’ catch a Ling there though. Looking forward to the summer......

    Talk about windy weather !!!!
    Tomorrow will be our first charter out in the ocean since almost 3 weeks ago !
    And guess what? It would be one of your favorite charters.
    It's a shark trip !! Lol.
    We do all catch and release on the shark trips unless we get a nice small 5 foot Blacknose or similar shark.
    Well anyways my friend on the other side of the pond.....YOU AND YOUR FAMILY STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY !
    CHEERS !
    P.S. - We didn't get to see the Ling AND YOU DISAPPOINTED ME !!!!

    • @TheFishLocker
      @TheFishLocker  3 роки тому +1

      Haha. Becuase of the conditions I had stowed everything down tight so it didn’t roll around so the net was underneath some stuff and lashed away. You do get just a glimpse of the ling but sadly no money shot. Good luck on your charter mate. 👍🏻🎣

    Nice fishing&lobster for tea, bonus.
    Ive been eyeing up that Surf comfort Smock, how do you rate it for shore fishing off the rocks and for wading in surf? Looks v waterproof. Does it overheat easy, neck-area comfortable?

    • @TheFishLocker
      @TheFishLocker  3 роки тому +2

      It is brilliant at keeping the water off. You can take a full wave to the face and you’re dry underneath. But it’s is not an easy fabric, I have never overheated in it but I use layers effectively.
