Ghostbusters: The Video Game, edited and compressed into a 2hr 40min 'movie' edition.
Set two years after the second movie and featuring the voices of the original cast, in spirit we can actually consider this something along the lines of Ghostbusters 3.
Presented in High Definition 720p.
Truly made me feel like I was a Ghostbuster; great game. This is my Ghostbuster 3.

When I hear Ramis's voice, I feel like he's here in this video game/movie in a better 2009 Ghostbusters movie.

Technically this IS Ghostbusters 3. I really enjoyed the movie in the game. I love playing the game, but I WISH we were able to customize the "Rookie" to look like ourselves. Though I'd probably not be able to get anything done because Venkman would be hitting on me the entire time, but I still think that should have been a feature ;)

for those of you expecting a Ghostbusters 3...it's probably not gonna happen because it's been "in the works" for 15 years....and Bill Murray has no interest...but Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson and Bill Murray did get together to make this great video game which essentially is an animated Ghostbusters 3.......so happy they did this.... especially with the loss of Harold Ramis.... RIP

This is the closest thing to a Ghostbusters 3 movie we ever will see. It paid a fantastic homage to the franchise. Alot of good times, and liked the walking down memory lane feel to it. Harold Ramis really did good in this effort. I am happy we will always be able to relive the world of ghostbusters thanks to this game. It is aging well. Still looks formidable in terms of graphics. This will be around for sometime yet.

After seeing the new movie trailer, looks like this game is the closest we are going to get to a real Ghosbusters movie. I don't mind as the game is amazing.

The best thing about this game is that it fills in a lot of blanks. There are questions answered and a background provided for some of the game's villains such as Shandor, and the librarian ghost. It felt like the 3rd Ghostbusters movie everyone has been demanding for the last 20 years
This game was awesome. My only complaint is Bill Murray seems to just be reading his lines and not acting them out with any feeling. Venkmam just seemed bland.
Well think about the situation he's in. He's just an actor who is used to being around and reacting with other people. Here, he's sitting in a room with no one else and reads his lines.
Not sure whether he acts surprised, angry, sad, belligerent and so on. It's hard for actors to capture the true essence of a character they're voicing by just sitting there. This is why a voice actor is much preferred.

After playing this when it was released, it was clear to me that this is The Third Movie. From the errie Columbia Picture intro to the slimer towards the screen outro
It was a masterpiece and all the guys made a spectacular comeback, from Murray's smart ass cracks, to Akroyds smart wits, to Harold Ramis genius, he should be proud, he will be missed.
Just bought this game for $2 on Steam. Ghostbusters lives!

the hardest achievement in this game for me was the "Nice Shooting Tex" one...minimal about of property damage...i LOVED destroying everything.

i'm probaly going to cry, I used to play this game with my dad as a little girl, MEMORIES are coming back to me.. We still have the disk but it's for ps3 we used to have but now we have ps4.
Watching this shows why this game has been referred to as both "A Love Letter To The Ghostbusters Franchise" and "The True Ghostbusters III." It's awesome.

i think this is great because you get the movie with extra things that never took place in the movies but at the same time getting the cartoon sense

yes and this game is considered canon as well, so the dark matter generator, meson collider and slime blaster mk2 are canon now, so IF they make a 3rd one they might just be in the movie, well the dark matter generator better be that one was my favorite colored beam it looked totally out of place yet fit right in

I loved this game growing up, I was actually thinking of borrowing a copy from a buddy of mine so I could play it again. my only Gripe though was that you never got to drive the Ecto-1.

After playing this n the 360 version, I concluded that I can die happy knowing that this could very well be the 3rd installment to the franchise. As for the actual third movie and as sad as it is that Harold Ramis is not with us, perhaps its time to pass the torch so to speak.
I remember getting this game many years ago for Christmas on Xbox 360, I think it's time I replay it!
After Bill Murray saw this, he decided to participate with "GHOSTBUSTERS III". But... then Harold Ramis had to die... Damn it...

I love the containment grid in this game.. It's a clear cross between the movie and the cartoon show.. Look at it..
Although it was obvious from the getgo, this game is indeed Ghostbusters 3. Dan Aykroyd has confirmed it many times. And rightfully so. This game has always been the perfect sequel for the two original films.
I've long thought the reason there was never a third film was because of the problems between Murray and Raimis. Following the format of this game, that could easily have been remedied: simply replace either one of them with a new "rookie" the rest of the Ghostbusters are training, and explain the absence of Peter of Egon by saying they are off in another city starting up a new Ghostbusters franchise. Not perfect, but a lot better than what we got.

This isn't really the most appropriate place to express your views on the new movie,, especially if the gender of the cast is your *main* problem.
There are endless videos, blogs etc already dedicated to that particularly topic.
This is not a stand against proper critique as some people would like to think.
Unfortunately a small minority of comments have focused on absolutely nothing but being against the very concept of an all-female Ghostbusters team.

Unfortunately, some people are hung up on the fact that the cast is female and that is literally their main beef with it.
Not the poor editing of the trailer, not the lack of clarity about what it actually is.
When people can't make a comment about the re-boot/sequel/alternate universe (whatever it is, that's a problem with it's poor marketing) without emphasising that it stars women, then their real agenda, no puns intended, is pretty transparent.
Eh personally I liked the trailer. I just found it a little cheesy.
Honestly, the movie just made me relapse lol sure there's all that but it's a Ghostbusters for this generation. I hope the script gets a bit more considerate for any future Ghostbusters movies...and I'm sure the next one is going to be a true throwback.
Me and a friend are arguing who's the bigger ghostbuster fan lol...This game was definitely the 3rd movie the fans were owed and the loss of Harold Ramis after this just...hurt. They really tried to honor the old guardians and I can see the good intentions...

That was a good one, sadly rare. But disregarding the writing and voice acting, the GAME looks great! How did they pull those physics out of last-gen consoles??? How??? 3D rippling water with a hundred objects floating up and down in it, HOW??? The entire library section is incredible. We don't get physics like this in contemporary games so there must have been a real genius or several on the team.
Definitely wouldn't mind if they remastered this game and updated the graphics even more. would love it if they could do it in time for the movie...

However, the PC version is as good as, or better, than any remastered version for XB1 or PS4 would be, since it's already capable of 1080p/60 and higher.
I've always toyed with the idea of re-doing this project in 1080/60 with the PC version (and as a single feature instead of 2 parts)

I think Slimer favors Peter out of all of the Ghostbusters since he only slimes him and him alone.
I absolutely love this game. I have the Wii version and although the characters look like they're made out of play-dough it was an extremely fun game. Especially since it had a whole new story line, had our favorite marshmallow man return, you got to catch Slimer, and the whole thing jus made me have a complete nerdgasm.
He's not so much "evil" as "chaotic neutral". Hes a wild card; more of an annoyance than anything.
I wish this was remastered on current gen, I'm gonna get this game on steam, it will bring back memories of playing the game. The library part scared me when i was younger.

slimer isn't a 'bad' ghost, especially not in this game.
he causes a fair bit of trouble but he's more of a prankster than a bad spirit
now that Harold Ramis has passed on to the great beyond, I guess this really is the closest thing to a 3rd movie that we'll get.
This took me back. To 1991. I really enjoyed it.
best part of the game other than the original voice cast reprising their roles is capturing the ghosts, seeing them trying to escape the ghost trap is awesome as well. My two least favourite parts in the game is when you have to almost constantly have to rescue one of your fellow Ghostbusters after so many hits & The bosses (especially the slime ghost boss in the librarys basement)

Possibly one of the only games based off a movie that was actually awesome, the gameplay never got reppetive and the story was great. Having the original cast was a great part of the game. Not to mention thw whole storyline and plot makes it a ghostbusters 3.

This game is pretty good! I love it. Its one of the games based on movies, tv shows or animes each is actually really good.
I have the PS3 and Wii versions and I definitely like it as much as the movies, although I wish they made it into an open world like Batman Arkham City where you get to walk around the city and capture random ghosts or something.

The plot of extreme ghostbusters actually is due to the pulse in the game making the ghosts more 'extreme' than previous incarnations. The original animated series (and slimer & the ghostbusters) was actually in canon to be between the second movie and this game (well, originally a third movie...)
Technically most things produced today and in the past is canon.
But they did take notes from the cartoon series for this game, Slimer was a named coined from the cartoon.

Damn I wish I still had this game. And actually this game was made using one of the drafts Dan Akroyd made for the 3rd movie. But he also said if they do get the ball rolling on the 3rd movie it will be another totally new script.
@TinyHeadHouse I believe he's referring to the Mayor of NYC, who is indeed voiced by Bill Murray's older brother, Brian Doyle-Murray.
The films had a different Mayor.

Well, this was it. Ghostbusters III, bringing it all full circle. So doing a reboot with an entirely new cast of characters makes sense to me, now that everything's gone full circle with the old.

The worst thing about this game is that they never rock out the Ghostbusters theme song. They play it for about 30 seconds at the end I think, and maybe a little at the beginning.
