  • If you slice or hook the golf ball, then you are going to have to check out this video because Alex Elliott is going to show you how you can control the clubface to STOP a slice and STOP a hook in your golf swing. Following this exact clubface control method, we can reduce curvature of your golf ball with the driver and therefore increase your driver distance. Follow this simple 3-step process and the ball-to-target line path drill to really make sure you are working on your golf game correctly. OPEN or CLOSE the face to start your golf swing, Make sure you have the correct grip in relation to the clubface, and then swing and release towards either the right or left golf ball depending on your HOOK or SLICE FAULT.
In order to hit the golf ball longer and straighter, we have to control the clubface and the club path! The idea is SIMPLE: change your clubface to change your golf swing and just forget everything that you thought was right.Change Your Clubface to Change Your Swing (Everything You Thought Was Wrong is RIGHT)
The Process to follow Change Your Clubface to Change Your Swing (Everything You Thought Was Wrong is RIGHT)
    1. Clubface
    2. GRIP
    3. Release and swing path with driver

Hands down the best information on why the ball does what it does…..so many wasted hours on the range trying to figure it out.

Thanks.. the left gap path tip worked for me too. Never knew until recently how to get there though. I finally got lucky coming across a teacher that has seen a lot of ex field hockey players like me. I turned out to have a similar habit as many hockey players which is a shortish, speedy but shallow backswing (lead arm close to the chest etc, subconsciously preventing 'sticks') coupled with very active wrists to compensate/catch up on the way back. On good timing days that is a nice draw, but if its off it's hooks galore. He made me keep my hands well in front of my chest line (felt very uneasy and unconnected for me at first) to free up space to actually reach that left gap :-) That was the key move for me. It apparently also made me so uncomfortable at first that I started to quiet down my wrists a lot too. Dispersion is so much better now, and as a bonus I am starting to slowly get a feel for shaping my drives as well. My launch monitor is clearly showing that my average swing path angle is decreasing as a result... I used to regularly hit double figures on swing path angles, now it's more like a couple of degrees negative or positive. Love this game, If things click, you get new energy and hooked again (pun not intended)
Just wanted to mention that in case other people with hook problems are watching with the same past - even though I know ball-hookers are a minority.

Took this tip to the driving range and removed my slice. Was able to produce hook, fade, straight, draw, and slice on purpose. Now I can work on distance and accuracy with other clubs.

What if you hook the ball one shot, and slice the ball next shot. "Asking for a friend" 🤣

    Great video again Alex.
Can I suggest a video lesson idea?
I hear lots about certain shaft flexes, and 'Kick Point'. All dependant on the right shaft flex for your swing speed.
Can you please explain how shaft bend works during the swing.
How is it affected during the acceleration phase of the downswing?
And how should the shaft be 'kicking' at impact, and how will the wrong flex for your swing speed affect the 'kick point'?
    Thanks Alex.

Alex, Is the driver swing release like the iron swing release. In other words, are we keeping the club face square (throwing the ball) until momentum helps release the club? thanks for the video

I notice you use a launch monitor in a lot of your videos. Which monitor would you consider the best for under $500. I don't make the big bucks!!!.🙂

The strong grip works for me but it goes a mile in the air and looses distance, how do you get the height lower?

so the face is slightly open to me from what I see. That isn't square at all. Then later a closed face. Neither seems right. I'm not seeing anything useful here. I hit everything left, hook, pull, rarely straight and only a slice if I screw up completely. I guess this is a shot shaping video.
