You know, I've been a fan of Joe since the James Gang era, then when he joined the Eagles in my mind as a teenager it was more like The Eagles joined Joe Walsh. The last time I saw Joe in Concert was at the Forum in 2016 and Joe makes you feel like he came to see you, that he is grateful and blessed that you spent your hard earned dollars and time and he is there for you, humble, he even had his brother in law come out and play drums on "Life's been Good" Meatloaf is the same way , grateful and blessed that you came to see them, and both of these good people let you know it.
Happy birthday, Joe. You're my favorite guitar player. I saw Joe in 87' at Great Adventure. Joe was hammered and forgot most of the words to "Lifes Been Good." And kept saying, "Got Any Gum." I was like, why is asking for gum. It wasn't till yrs later realized that was the name of his new album. It was like a surealists' performance piece. I was hammered, too.
I've always loved that Joe often shows a wicked sense of humor, many times while simultaneously being deep and insightful. I love the line: "On Saturdays we work out in the yard. Pick up the dog doo. Hope that it's hard." I can so relate to this -- at one of the first places where I lived after college we had 3, and later 4 good-sized dogs but a relatively small back yard. I was the only one who was bothered by having a backyard that was a dog shit minefield when you walked through and that belched out a wall of doo doo stench, especially on muggy days, which I'm sure that the neighbors just loved, so I spent many Saturdays doing just what Joe describes and yes, I really did hope those things were hard. A couple of wet ones could really spoil your Saturday as if it weren't already f*cked up enough.

great song, very underplayed on the classic rock stations, I was surprised this song came out in 1991, I thought it came out sometime in the early 1980s
I remember when this first came out. They played it a little bit on one station, then it was forgotten. This did not get the attention it should have gotten. If this had been released in the 70s, it would have been a bigger hit. It's all in the timing.

I still have memories of the first time I heard this song in 1991 (?). I absolutely knew it was Joe but it certainly had a different "feel" to it and I was puzzled as to why. Years later, I reached a point in my professional (and personal) life that I knew I could no longer continue to manage on my own. I was professionally, personally, and spiritually burned out. My thirty some odd years in emergency services took a heavy toll on me and all I wanted for the rest of my days was to live a simple, quiet, loving, and peaceful way of life. I was burned out and had no earthly idea of what I was going to do with myself. Never occurred to me that maybe one day I would need to have a back-up plan! At some point as I started to get better, I remembered Joe's song and I too wanted to be an "Ordinary Average Guy." And I'm absolutely okay with that. It does my old heart good to know that Joe and his music is still with us. God Bless ya Joe and thanks very much for posting. Be safe 🙏
friend in Greene NY gave me "Rides Again" 8-track tape of James Gang to listen to while visiting there in 1969. as songwriter/guitarist with always likeable huge talent, joe's the man. what a career! Rocky Mountain Way, Tend My Garden, Good to me So FAr

This essentially a toned-down, 80s-ified companion to "Life's Been Good" wherein the narrator has gone from a drug/alcohol-fueled hedonist rockstar lifestyle to one of boring suburban normalcy. It even has very similar reggae-influenced verses bookended with the song title as a refrain.
Joe is an extrodinary average guy! If I got a chance to spend a day with any musician out there it would be with Joe. Too bad Glenn Frye had to leave us so soon. Was hoping to see the Eagle's when I win the lottery but no one knows how long that will be.
Saw the Eagles in concert last week in Cleveland, OH and to everyone's surprise they actually played 3 of Joe Walsh's solo tunes. I was really hoping they would play this song, but no such luck. They played Funk #49, Rocky Mountain Way and Life's Been Good. The concert was incredible...they all sounded perfect. It's pretty sad (for the new "artists") when bands that have been around for 40 years are still singing like it was 1973 and today's "artists" get caught lip syncing almost weekly.
Wow! Haven't heard this in 30yrs since it was released. Got a short stint of radio play back then....then disappeared. Can't believe I never acquired on disk. Tune has never left the memory portion of the brain though.

And to think these guys started out as back up musicians to Linda Rondstat. The Eagles were one of a kind. And seperate they amazed. However father time hits us all. RIP Glen Frey. Thank you for the memories....
Another timeless classic you would never dare hear in today's music. Not just the incredible lyrics funny video and flawless sound, but the fact that most people would gripe abouy the title and chorus, saying "Why is this referencing only a man and not a woman..."

Average guy. No way he's the greatest guitar player ever. Joes the man
when i heard of joes passing " started playing all his music since again and can't stop" thank you joe playing for Jesus now wow!!!
Joe passing. That’s funny. You might want to double check that.
To me Joe was never scared to explore different sounds in his music. He's damn cool no matter how many keyboards are used ;)
Oh man......I have not heard this song since 1991......its freakin' great!
Omg, the lyrics to this song are hilariously funny. I remember hearing this song back in 1992 and I laughed so hard when I heard that one lyric where he mentions that " every Saturday we work in the yard, pick up the dog doo, hope that it's hard". Lol! Thanks for posting this.

I love. Love love Joe Walsh and his great lyrics
Thanks for your love and support 👋 👋👋
great song, very underplayed on the classic rock stations, I was surprised this song came out in 1991, I thought it came out sometime in the early 1980s
I was thinking it was late 70s sound. Can't believe '91
I remember when this first came out. They played it a little bit on one station, then it was forgotten. This did not get the attention it should have gotten. If this had been released in the 70s, it would have been a bigger hit. It's all in the timing.
Yeah, this came out around the same time as Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains. Good song, but a dying breed for the time.
@@johnd5931 Grunge wasn't quite in full swing when this song was getting airplay on the rock charts (late Spring/early Summer of 1991).
I was a senior in high school when this came out. It played regularly for a few months and then disappeared off the air waves.
“Pick up the dog doo, hope that its hard” Amen brother. I hate cleaning up the soft serve.
This guy is a genius really, hope he lives a long and happy life, well deserved for sure.
You can sometimes catch him on the air. WB6ACU
@@jarvisfamily3837 Is that a shortwave call sign?🤔
@@UserName_no1 He has an amateur extra class license but I don't know what bands he might active on. Just leave a message - maybe he'll call... :-)
@@jarvisfamily3837 Got it😉
I, personally, don't have a shortwave connection (no license or radio) but I thought I recognized it as call letters. Had an idle interest in it (as is the case now) when I was in the scouts. Thanks👍
Stumbled upon this again today. Awesome reminder of what a truly legendary rock artist Joe Walsh is. Love this song. I truly relate.

He HUMBLED his talent to lower to the Eagles. AND THEY WERE INCREDIBLE!! I listened to this music in the 1970's. The Smoker you Get the Player you are!! Driven down the road in my 1964 Corvette convertible. It was called an 8 track player.
WE LOVE YA,JOE.WERE STILL HERE
Awesome song!

haha love this
All his songs were so strong... And a little different.... Unique in a special way
If he's not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, he should be.
Walsh was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998
Walsh was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001.
This song used to be a radio treat.
Never forget the Eagles needed Joe Walsh more than Joe Walsh needed the Eagles
The kids remind me of my sis and me. Good times good times. And I'm glad I have a little dog!

“And every Saturday we work in the yard
Pick up the dog doo hope that it’s hard”
Pretty much summed up my former married life 😂

Nobody has as much fun on stage as Joe Walsh!
Nice analysis. that's Joe's style, and we like it...
Maybe something to do with a.a.?
I never thought of it that way. Very cool.
its how joe walsh seems to work. strait forward down to life and ready to be honest
Funny how the same brain can put out things that are similar.
Joe is an extrodinary average guy! If I got a chance to spend a day with any musician out there it would be with Joe. Too bad Glenn Frye had to leave us so soon. Was hoping to see the Eagle's when I win the lottery but no one knows how long that will be.
Thanks for your love and support 👋 👋👋

This is one of my favorite, although it is hard to pick a favorite when there are so many of them.
Another timeless classic you would never dare hear in today's music. Not just the incredible lyrics funny video and flawless sound, but the fact that most people would gripe abouy the title and chorus, saying "Why is this referencing only a man and not a woman..."
What can I say???????????????? He has saved me from myself in so many ways! Love you, Joe Walsh!
i just remembered this song after 30 years, just had to hear it even tho i didn't think much of it back then. funny how we all eventually settled down, even my meth dealin freinds
Joe walsh is one of my favorite artists and many more Go Joe walsh
