Without a doubt, One of the Best theme songs in animated cartoons that personifies a hero who faces fearsome odds, yets fights on.Love the crescendo of the lead singer, as the chorus in the background, cascade their crescendo as if he is our final & only hope in saving everyone.Truly fitting a 'Underdog.'
Enjoyed this show as a kid. Then when I grew up and learned the common meaning of 'underdog' it took on an added but subtle dimension...like adults were trying to tell the kids something...
As a child in the 60's I just loved Underdog, especially this opening! The giant was a bit scary, but when Shoe shine boy goes into that phone booth & BOOM out comes Underdog, that nasty giant got his!
I’m 41 and a child of the eighties and early nineties as I was ten when I saw this in the summer of 92 as Nickelodeon introduced children of my generation to this show
This is probably the 2nd of three known opening sequences to the Show. This one with the Giant and the 3rd opening with Simon Barsinister use the same words to the song. The First opening sequence featured the criminal "RiffRaff", which used different words to the song. This was a great show for kids to watch. Still my favorite.
I used to be afraid of the Giant when I was a child. I would watch the show except for the parts with the Giant. It looked., scary for a child that was 5 or 6 years old
So Underdog Beats Up the Giant, what happens afterwards?? Does he fly back & knock him back to where he came from, Or; does the Giant get up & Run far, far away like a Little B..ch? Also, Who fixes all the wrecked Buildings?? Don't miss Our next episode!! 😉 You Gonna Be Waitin'!!!
@@rbloobloo16, it’s when the lyrics of the song say “Speed of lightning, roar of thunder” and Underdog is flying so fast, he literally turns into lightning. The image is so powerful, especially when I was a child.
I watched underdog on Nickelodeon then I seen that boomerang had the show on but I got this Shout Factory DVD box set and I must say even though thay have every underdog episode thay are missing some of the filler episodes like the Tennessee Tuxedo that is meant to be in this Underdog DVD box set thay got some of the gopher Indians but 1 episode of gopher Indians is messed up why is it in a box instead of how the others are and thay got Klondike Kat and Commander mcbragg but still there should be Tennessee Tuxedo but he is not in it the hunter is in it but you put a different episode from the one that was supposed to be on it why not let it run
There’s no need to fear, Underdog is here!
The giant was my favorite intro
Brings back memories of growing up in the 60's.
Since we didn't have remotes back then I had to decide what Saturday to watch ABC;CBS and NBC.😮😅

Speed of lightning, roar of thunder baby!
The monster stomps almost in sync with "badoo, badoo, badoo..."

Actually the one with Simon Barsinister was the first one, the one with the giant was the second one and the one with Riff Raff was the third one.
I always get a charge out of this one, more then the others!

Don’t blame you, I was afraid of the Cloudmen from the episode silver thieves because I thought they were unstoppable
happened to me as well when I was six 🤣
When Polly's in trouble I am not slow for it's hip-hip-hip and away I go!
The best theme song ever from the best Saturday morning cartoon ever!
Love this one of the giant stomping
Through the city but he was ready. for underdog!!
This is my favorite underdog intro.
Eric Oxner. Mine too!
Me too! :)
Mine too
Me too! ♡ T.E.N.
I thought the Scrubs people may have done a better job with their rendition
There were three different themes to the show and this was my favorite theme with the Monster Giant
31 years ago Nickelodeon introduced me to underdog when I was ten years old and watched it every afternoon and taped episodes in the summer of 92.
I like the giant stomping like that
I have sometimes wondered why HB or Filmation didn't try a take on underdog?!
Riff Raff was the best.
Excellent video. ♡ T.E.N.
NickRetro's show for Roku (with Tennessee Tuxedo and Klondike Kat segments)

I have it now
IKR !!!
I always get a charge (no pun intended) from the image at 0:50.
What does the image at 0:50 mean or represent?

Hey, man, if you try to squash a TARDIS in your big monster hands you get burned!
What is the name of the episode that the giant appears in?
♥️🥳♥️🥳♥️🥳♥️🥳
I absolutely hate animated cartoons today, with that awful hip style, but this stuff from the 60s was wonderful and so UN hip, just great fun.
