A little fun fact that you either didn't know or didn't mention is that Tenkaichi Tag Team was the first Dragon Ball Z game to use Funimation's voice cast from Dragon Ball Z Kai instead of the cast from the original Dragon Ball Z, so characters like Gohan and Frieza have new voice actors.
The PSP was the most impressive handheld comsole ever made back then. It was amazing having those quality of games in a handheld. It really was like having a portable PS2.
I got my PSP very late in its life cycle, and I immediately modded it. Along with dissidia Final Fantasy, which is one of my favorite games of all time. I played Shin Boudakai another road. I learned very quickly that I needed an ISO version of the game because of all the loading screens. The CSO file which was the most common to save space on a memory card took forever to load.
Im playing Shin Budokai Another Road through an emulator, its one of the toughest CPU's ive ever fought in a Dragon Ball game. The CPU in this game specifically is kicking my ass lol
18:50 You might have actually heard of them. Soon after this game, they merged with another company and the new company just slammed the two companies' names together. They're now known as Spike Chunsoft. Danganronpa, Zero Escape, the Mystery Dungeon games, AI: The Somnium Files, Rain Code, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, those guys.
Congrats on reaching 100K! I remember binge watching this channel 8 years ago or so, great to see your still pursuing your passion. Happy new year and best of luck with your future endeavors
The Tenkaichi tag team game was my favorite on psp. Was fun to explore the areas before going to the quest objective, and I enjoyed the what if scenarios.
DBZ TAG TEAM TENKAICHI ,THE CAMERA ANGLE,THE VISUAL EFFECTS,POWER MOVES IMPACT AND THE VOICE PLUS STORY IS EPIC FOR PSP OR MAYBE THE BEST DBZ GAME EVER.ITS A DBZ IN YOUR HANDS.
Hey man, first time viewer. This was a fun nostalgic video. I just want to add that if you would add chapters to your videos, it would be easier to see which games you were talking about. I was confused for a second during your Shin Budokai sections.
How have you never heard of Spike-Chunsoft? They made Dragon Quest, Shiren the Wanderer, all the Mystery Dungeon games, and a ton of great games. They do focus a lot on anime IPs too
The weirdest thing about Dragonball Evolution to me is that Bulma's last name in it is Enchanto, which is obviously not her proper last name, but I don't believe they ever established her last name being Enchanto in the movie so they either did a deep dive into production notes for the film or just fabricated a brand new last name for her for that specific game and either way, I think that's fascinating.
Tenkaichi tag team does explain the tag mechanics.... It's just in the tutorial section of the game, not in dragon walker. I do think it's not that crazy tor story mode, but for multiplayer? Either doing 2 player coop or even 2v2 player combat is crazy. While the ai isn't the smartest so it's harder to work with them, if you play with a friend you can definetly do some great stuff
"A company i've never heard of called spike made this' Spike has always made the budokai tenkaichi games, so they shouldn't be a new name. they also made the pokemon mystery dungeon games and would later be merged with chunsoft to make , well, spike chunsoft, who would later be known for making the danganronpa games.
@@polk1203 to be fair, I haven’t really played the tenkaichi games since back before I really knew anything about who developed what, and since I didn’t go back and research tenkaichi for this one, I didn’t even realize lol oops.
Should also message that technically the budokai tenkaichi series is an entirely different series called the Sparking series in japan, so influences between series aren’t always intentional since it’s two different teams
I absolutely love dbzttt especially the modded versions . The tag team function is triggered with the D pad which cycles to one of 3 modes , normal, focused and split. Focused mode is basically you and the CPU attacking the same target at once ( tag teaming) spit mode basically allows your tag team partner to only focus on the other opponents tag partner. Survival mode is actually pretty difficult each tag team gets two senzu beans and the CPU gets harder the further you make it . I've only been able to make it to round 36 before I get completely wiped out . The modded versions are even harder but still fun to play , there's only one modded that works pretty good on the PSP however a few of the characters are unplayable and crash the game , and the story mode only allows you to play up to the majin Vegeta fight before it crashes. It's better to use the unmodded version because they share the same save file .
When you showed the meta cooler mission in shin budokai another road, that was the mission that whether I first played it as a kid or played it when I was older, could NEVER beat hence why I was so HAPPPY when I later found out that I could just download an 100% complete save file off game faqs so I could play as all the new characters, like ss4 goku, dabura, super buu, bardock, etc
Budokai 3 for ps2, Shin Budokai series for psp (and FighteZ for ps4) are by far the best DBZ fighting games ever made. Their depth and polish is top tier, easily on par with the best VS games. Each of them were played in professional competitions in their time.
tenkaichi tag team does have a tutorial mode. In the tutorial section... or even if you pause the menu you can look at combo chains i'm pretty sure. It seemed like you repeated the same standard combo over and over because i did not see any step in extensions or grabs. the combat has bit more to offer than what you explored i think.
Funny thing, I joined the Air Force in 2001 and one of my goals was to own all the Dragonball Z games on Playstation that were Japanese only releases. Succeeded within my first year, plus a boot disk for playing imports. Within a year it seems every title had a US port domestically released 😢.
How do you feel about Dookieshed finally being back in action lately? He had a live stream 3 hours ago along with a livestream a few months ago. I only ask because I know that you two are/were close friends.
I loved Shin Budokai 2. Basically, the Buu Saga in Future Trunks timeline. But with Future Gohan getting resurrected and obtaining his Unleashed Potential. I enjoyed that e ding to Trunks timeline rather than Super's Goku Black arc.
I grew up playing shin budokai 2 and i too found out later on abt the camera angle, but in the opposite way (i always had the normal 2D setup by default)
It always cracks me up how the shin budokai games have the copyright logo next to each characters name in the character select screen wnd by the health bar.
Y'know, going in, I thought it was just gonna be Shin Budokai 1 and 2 plus Tag Team, because I completely forgot they made a Dragon Ball Evolution game at all.
Yeah, they all were solid games. I had a blast with dragon ball z the movie game. I enjoyed the movie too. I didn't take that stuff seriously 😂 i already knew what was up. It wasn't funimation making it or another anime company. They was going to bastard western that kind up. Double dragon the movie 😅 street fighter the movie, & so on. How snes & older game companies changed random things. I went in with that mindset. I saw it as a standalone thing. Don't try to connect to any DBZ media. I was entertained...so good enough. My sister hated the movie. I told her, "You're thinking too hard. Just enjoy the action." One of my friend's saw a small part of it when i was watching it. He told someone made a joke video of the anime. I told him, "The company used over a million making this." He pointed to the tv & said this 🤬 he got up & went home bru. He came back 3 hours later. He made sure that movie was done
It's likely because Crunchyroll (then-named Funimation) trademarked most of the Dragon Ball character names. I suspect it was an attempt to crack down on bootleg merchandise and fan-subtitled videotapes circulating at the time of the anime's American cablecast. That's a common sticking point with most Journey to the West adaptions in the Americas, since the monkey has to constantly be renamed (1997 tv cartoon "Monkey Magic" renamed their Son Goku "Kongo", for example) due to that trademark.
Another Road has a special place in my heart just for bringing Future Gohan back to life, even if it’s not canon. Also Bardock featuring AT ALL in the story mode is a plus for me.
18:12 - Hey, bad as this movie is, at least it's not Episode of Bardock.......or the three first Broly movies.......or Return of Cooler.......or Super Dragon Ball Heroes......or the Goku Black Saga......or just the Buu Saga in general.....or Dragon Ball FighterZ's story mode. Seriously I would say I miss the days when this live action movie was indeed the worst thing to ever have the Dragon Ball name on it but as I look back at the franchise overall the existential horror sets in as I realize *this was NEVER the worst thing to have the Dragon Ball name attached to it, it will NEVER be the worst thing to have the Dragon Ball name on it.
