  • In this video we will take you along through the build process of this ATV Dump Trailer. This trailer allowed us to fill a need for light duty work around the ranch and allow us to tread lightly and have greater access through out the property. We built this specifically to be cost effective and still complete the tasks without the need for a truck and our larger trailers.
    Welcome to Tick Creek Ranch. This channel was created to show the daily ins and outs of life on a small ranch. We are a family of eight, our lifestyle has taken us from the deserts of Idaho to the wilds of Alaska and back to the lower 48. We followed our dreams and finally settled in the Ozark’s of Missouri. We have owned and operated our own businesses over the years, ranging from carpentry and excavation to commercial and residential landscape. The children and ourselves have developed a passion for learning new skills which include leather work, welding and fabricating, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, roofing, painting, equipment operation, timber sawing, blacksmithing, horseshoeing, flatwork and concrete, timber framing, cattle ranching, horse training, and many more. Please follow along on this journey as we build our new home and delve into the ways of regenerative ranching. So stick around and watch us create our dream using old world construction techniques and style reminiscent of an era gone by. Thank you and enjoy the journey.

    That is one nicely built trailer!! My only suggestion is that you drill drain holes in any square tubing that is welded solid. Water Will get in, you need to let it get out before it frezzes... it will balloon the tubing.

    I’m liking this video I don’t even know why it showed up in my feed but I’m glad it did. We got us a little trailer that we use at our place up in the mountains in Zions. but when you don’t have an axle like that the tires we have problems, I’m stealing this idea, I like it.

    I built a very similar trailer with the same style for lifting. Branches and fire wood it dumps fine on a single pull. But i tend to overload it when hauling dirt or rocks, so i added a snatchblock on the front of the box. Then run the cable through it and hook to the top of the mast (just below the V pulley). It does take longer but will lift a lot more weight (double the strength/ half the speed).

    Never thought of doing a walking beam axle like that but it's simple and effective! Also, if you wanted to travel over the road with the trailer, would be an easy swap back to trailer tires. What do you estimate you have into the build?

      @@tickcreekranch honestly I thought you would be more into it. steel isn't bad if you are buying it here and there but I just bought a 20' section of 1x1 square tube 1/8" wall and it was 35 bucks. That can add up really quick if you aren't watching it. I have a old trailer someone left on the property years ago that they stuck a solid front axle from some sort of car(at least thats what it looks like) and built a trailer on it and you have given me some ideas.

    nice trailer, nice video.
    Q: why not more overhang at the rear? _ as much as possible close to the spring mount shackle. means all that weight would actually help unloading.
    I made a trailer that has the hinge basically on the axle, so if loaded properly/equally front/back ... I can dump ~300kg dirt/rocks/wood just by hand, i just need to help it off a bit (it does have a latch i need to unlock for it to dump)

  • @scottc3165
    @scottc3165 9 місяців тому

    • @tickcreekranch

    Looks like the dump bed may twist if the load is uneven side to side. Could you build hinged supports on either side of the frame to help with that? I hope I explain this right. Hinge the frame ya built to both sides,then have steel tubing ride on rollers to the frame rails on the bed itself. So they rise and fall as the dump bed does. Not sure if I make sense

    Great build, going to tackle a similar build as a project with my old man. Gonna pick through the video more thoroughly again but just wondering if you might have a materials list for all the steel used.

    • @tickcreekranch
      @tickcreekranch  2 місяці тому

      Thanks Chance! Sorry I don’t have a material list. I just build from my head. I can tell you the bed is 4x8 so it utilized a full sheet. You might consider having the steel yard break some sheets to make a monocoque type bed considering this ended up being pretty heavy. If I were to build another I’d upgrade to a 3500# winch. Other than that I’ve been pretty happy with it.

    • @SchulerAg89

      @@tickcreekranchawesome thanks for the quick reply and insight! Definitely have a few ideas to make the bed a bit lighter myself.
