- It started as a failed fishing trip,
On a sunny Saturday in 1974, a few mates with their rods and eskies filled with beer found a flat rock to cast a line off the East Point cliffs that fringe Darwin's westernmost point.
Yet as they sat, drank and chatted, their lines remained slack.
"We didn't catch any fish," Beat Erismann recalls.
"But then the sun set as we sank a few tinnies and we said that was magic … why don't we do it again next Saturday."
From there one of the Northern Territory's most unusual movements took shape, and people became religious about the act of sitting on the rock every Saturday for hours at a time.

In all honesty, I found that very wholesome, even with all those adversities you mentioned that they had to overcome in order to be who they really are.
