16:35 - last years Raptors were 5 teams in 1 season. 1) Pre-OG trade (31 games) 2) OG trade to Pascal trade (9 games) 3) Pascal trade to trade deadline (11 games) * 4) trade deadline to Scottie's injury (9 games) 5) Post Scottie injury (22 games) ** Scottie shot 39.5% from three, on 5.7 attempts, before OG was traded. Then he took on OG Defensive role, and it affected his legs for his shooting. When people talk about his shot falling off, I don't think they took this massive mid-season change into account. * Koloko was supposed to be the backup Center. ** His replacement, Jontay Porter, was actually good when he wasn't gambling.
Not so much his legs that were the issue, it's the quality of the 3's he was taking. With Pascal and OG in, the shots Scottie were getting were better, when he became the offensive focal point after the trades, shot quality decreased significantly as IQ and RJ weren't equal replacement to OG and Pascal in terms of their shot generation for the rest of the field at the time. With some chemistry with IQ and RJ, his shot quality should once again improve.
Hes a finisher. Just look at the stats and watch the games. Its just his mentality that needs to mature more. And that is happening exponentionally. He will be a top 10 player this year imo.
Once his handle and primary creation get there and his three gets a bit better it’ll be over for every one he’ll be top 10 all nba easy championship number one type beat
Does anyone else think the "#1 option" should be redefined from the best scorer to the best decision maker? Whether that's getting your own shot, or finding the shooter with the better shot. Like Lebron, even though he's the all-time scorer, he's always been a play maker first. Maybe it's the analytical version of a #1 option, but it should be the real version.
#1 option should be the best decision maker that can make timely buckets. They should be able to run the offense throughout the course of game with smart decision making but also be able to score in late clock situations or when the offense falls apart and other players are struggling to make shots.
I think because he’s not a natural scorer and plays for Toronto he’s just not highlighted. I think as the team gets better that will change. Hoping he becomes a better scorer and less passive.
Scottie has no real ceiling tbh. He can be as good as he wants to be, he has the physical tools and the unteachable IQ & reading of the game. He will become a great shooter and no one will be able to stop him. His playmaking and help defensive instincts put him above guys like Paolo & Chet in terms of potential for me.
Barnes was one of the easiest players to scout and draft. Dude played exactly like that in college. Defense, playmaking , and naturally if you do those things well offense will come.
@@beckembrown7002 I think the biggest difference is Jalen is more of a play finisher and Scottie is a play initiator. I honestly love both of their games. But for Jalen to play more of a Scottie role he’d have to improve his handle more. The thing is bc Trae is there I’m not sure he’ll ever be fully asked or really even needs to do that. Jalen legit can/should be an all star even without being the main initiator. But that’s the biggest difference between the two rn. Scottie’s finishing numbers are also better but I don’t worry about that with Jalen. (Btw made a vid on Jalen a couple months ago)
This season teams are gona have their hands full. Lmao! RAPTORS are singing the rebuilding song, while they quietly creep up on teams.😂😂😂 Surround Scottie with shooters and it's lights on for the NBA😂😂
Imagine if he was passing to real NBA players. Other than RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley, there isn't much to work with. Chris Boucher is 6'9" but has brutal basketball IQ and a very deficient skillset. Jacob Poetl is a 7 footer who can't shoot and can barely dunk. Bruce Brown is a very marginal player who doesn't shoot well and is small. When Pascal Siakim, who can really play, was there he spent too much time at midcourt yelling "I'm open" and not enough time cutting to the rim. Jalen McDaniels, who is now gone, was just useless.
I think the biggest thing Scottie needed was movement shooters and off ball cutters, not ISO heavy players like Siakam. OG was a perfect fit next to Scottie but he wanted out and I think Quickley and Barrett fit next to Scottie just as well because of Quickley's ability to shoot and Barrett's ability to cut. Bruce Brown on paper should fit well since he's supposedly an elite off ball cutter but for some reason he forgot how to finish around the rim last season. We drafted a couple of movement shooters with a lot of potential in Gradey and JaKobe. I think we're headed in the right direction in putting the right pieces around Scottie. I think the next move is to replace Poeltl with a big that can actually space the floor and provide rim protection but those types of bigs are rare. Poeltl is a good off ball cutter for a big and an underrated passer so he's not a bad option as a stop gap solution at center.
Great Video, well done. Scottie's a 1 of 1. Power, Playmaking and Personality. Raps found their guy.
Scottie is one of the best passers for his position.
Barnes is an absolute game changing player. He takes over games when called upon.
Great video, people dont watch enough raptors and are underrating Barnes
its because hes on the raptors. always a bias with anything that has anything to do with the raptors
Only people with deep understanding in basketball will appreciate Scottie Barnes game..
Scottie barnes is going to repeat as an allstar this year! WATCH!

Great video, Scottie is slept on he deserves more attention.
Scottie would be glazed endlessly if he didnt play for the Raptors
scottie criminally underrated
Hes really good
Thank you for the analysis! Scottie is criminally underrated because casuals don’t understand anything if it’s not a flashy play.
This guy knows ball 😤
Damn Scottie FC is for real, yall are some real ones 🙏
Great video! Scottie doesn’t get the love and hype he deserves
@@scottplays2k thanks bro 🙏 I’m glad you enjoyed
Excellent video. We both love a jumbo sized playmaker.
As Masai said: “that’s why he’s paid the big bucks.”
Great breakdown. Gonna be an interesting year for the Raptors

Should raptors try to win? or tank for Flagg?
Great video man, subscribed.

Good stuff bro!
@@Veggamattic glad you enjoyed bro 🙏
I don't know why people like Cade and Paulo better. Scottie is more well rounded than both and a better defender and a way better passer.
They’re fooled by the highlights
Just highlights and scoring

He looks like he should be a QB in the NFL. Then again, he is going to make more $$$ in the NBA.
Believe he was a highschool qb..
Scottie may not be a big time scorer. But he impacts the game in all other categories. His efficiency is much improved. He is a Swiss army knife.
Barnes was one of the easiest players to scout and draft. Dude played exactly like that in college. Defense, playmaking , and naturally if you do those things well offense will come.
Question for Malaga Drive: Jalen Johnson is a similar archetype to Scottie right? What does Jalen Johnson need to improve on to be in Scottie’s tier?

Siakam is a finisher not a playmaker, Barnes is a playmaker now he has to show us he is a finisher too
