FYI, the site you are showing is the Carraway hospital and Norwood clinic building. This complex is slated for a nearly 350 million dollar redevelopment this year. Also the building just north of Carraway is the old McArthur elementary school. Had you turned your camera 6 blocks south, you would see Top Golf ( 40 mil), Protective Stadium ( 200 mil) Legacy Arena 125 mil) and interstates 20/59 (750 million dollars) . So, the upshot is we have a long way to go, but , we are off to a good start. P.S. 👍 camera work, keep it up. Love the vid.
@@jeffmalone5557 HI, Jeff I grew up on Druid Hill drive .Approximately 1/2 mile from the stadium. My nephew lives in our family home there now. What's your point?
@@gregorycrawford5105 I grew up in Tarrant, pretty close to Norwood and Druid Hills. They're just not as nice an area as they used to be. I lived in Tarrant Garden Estates and there are some very well maintained homes there, but many are not, and I would not move there either. I was in the USAF for 22 years, moved back to Bham in 2010 and was saddened to see the decline in these neighborhoods.
@@jeffmalone5557 Things, places, and time change. People move out new people move in, but one thing will never change. That's my love for Birmingham and the citizens there in. So, the best way to answer you is this: you and I may live in a "so called better area " however we are" NO" better than the people of Norwood, Druid Hill, or Fountain Higths. But, to answer your question " will I live there now ? YES, YES,YES . Now, may I ask you a question? Why wouldn't I ?
I remember exploring Caraway Hospital and the old elementary school with some friends a few years back. The school still had some old desks and textbooks while we were there. The Medflight helipad was still running too. Back then we were wondering what would come of that area. Seems like every time Birmingham makes a plan it gets axed. Hopefully that area can go back to helping people soon. Great drone footage, thanks for sharing
Norwood area, much of the land behind old Caraway Hospital has been cleared and prepped for redevelopment. Several of the hospital building have been razed as well. Been working this area for months carrying load after load away. Hopefully the area will be revitalized with this new development.
