Good ear! Didn’t that album “barefoot blue Jean night” come out in 2011? Would have been around the same time this video was made . I saw jake Owen a couple times around 2011-2012 and that was always the first song they opened with . Great song!
I know where you're coming. After Superstorm Sandy this past October, my Gretsch White Falcon Was almost completely submerged in my shore house in Tom's River New Jersey. My uncle is a professional luither in New City New York & he loves that guitar just as much as me. So he bought another Flacon for me and lovingly restored the original one. Now it's even better than before. I love my 'Sandy' Falcon :)
2010 Nashville, I remember having to have one of my teles restored because my buddy had it at his house, I loaned it to him in january to record, on the condition he loaned me his SG, and took care of my baby, well He gave me the SG as a condolence gift type thing and paid for the restoration, but a lot of people weren't so lucky and lost some great gear, regardless of price.
@2:27 Those overtones are the voices of Angels that Jimi sent back to us to guide our way, "Trumpets and Violins, I can hear in a distance, I think they're calling our name"
:) yeah some songs do sound like John Mayer but overall i find him more melodic, his pentatonic phrasing is beautiful like he did on the outro solo of God you Reign and today is the day. also the way he used the delay there's some edge influence i think
I am just getting into Keith Urban I am a guitar player as well. I really like his energy when he plays, even his slow songs he plays very busily. As for the condition of his guitars, there are musicians out there that keep there equipment in pristine condition and I have nothing against them , and then there is musicians that need there instrument to feel as beat up as there are, to some how have earned the right to be played as often as it is. I do find if you teach a child to respect there instrument and keep it clean and such , they will understand how much an instrument can come to mean to them and how attached one can get to an old beat up instrument and not want to let it go. I guess the worse thing that can happen to any instrument is for it to get left alone and dusty. I will say for a guy that seems to be really laid back and country , he has a real energy about him and it flows out into his music . Keep up the good work Keith and don't ware your self out , take sometime off enjoy life with that pretty wife of yours and do your touring when you have something new to show us or you just get bored . I just hate seeing a touring musician dead on there feet all the time , I would rather see them rested and enjoying the feed back from the audience .
Any one have more info on the Tele style guitar Keith is playing in the sound-check footage? By the way, Rebecca Dirks does a better job on the Rig Rundowns!
Well the best way to explain is these guys refuse to limit themselves to standard tuning so you have to have one each for all the tunings you use, then maybe a backup. then you got the tele sound, start sound, humbucker sound which would either be a fat strat or les paul,
+James Tomlin that's funny and I bet it does look cool...i just used a bandanna/handkerchief...got at thrift store... silk one for the tight weave and works great..and looks cool...well 2me
Yeah but you still had to wait for your favorite piece, you know? I can't find another tele or any guitar that sounds and feels like my 88 blonde, just like no other guitar will feel as loved your white falcon, which is a sweet piece by the way I got a 60's chet atkins (thanks to my uncle) that is pretty decent, but i fell in love with my tele ten years ago, and everything else except some other fenders a gibson or two, and a mosrite is practice guitars.
Let me help you out Maverikk68 . These guitars are 40-50 yrs old and have been played. They are not similar to the Fender Squire that you see at your local music store.
Nice, Just got a Suhr. But the hum bucker push push switch is busted. Brand new too. UGH. It's been a week since I have heard anything after an immediate awesome response. Beware, i think...not sure yet, but it's not looking good from a communication standpoint. Josh was great at first, then dropped off the face of the earth. Brand new too. Ugh.
The great thing about country music - which I used to HATE (and part of me still does) - is that it's all about GUITARS... Metallers will shout me down, but I reckon it's the new rock: new 'classic' rock, anyway...
Country guys like Urban and Brad Paisley are better players than most of the rock guys out there getting tons of attention. Guys like Brent Mason and JC Simo are on another level entirely
I think I'm gonna go buy a tele from the custom shop, and flood it in my basement...maybe I'll get lucky and score an awesome tone. (heavily sarcastic)
He's somebody that had a number one album in the US - not in the country charts but the actual billboard all music charts. He's also had 14 No 1 singles in the country charts..oh and he just happens to be married to Nicole Kidman. Of course you yourself, as a mutli platinum selling artist married to a world renowned actress should be able to relate to this...
You're right. You're not a rockstar... lol. But seriously, I don't really find it excessive putting on shows like he does. Of all the guitars shown, I didn't really see a lot of overlap in tones. Strats with singles, strat with humbuckers, semi-hollow with buckers, Les Paul with p90s, couple of teles with singles that could have been backups to one another, tele with a bucker. Pretty "streamlined" considering how much of a guitar tone nut Urban is.
im not a rockstar or anthing, but i would consider myself a guitarist. I think they are a bit excessive with bringing all those guitars with them, you only really need like 4 guitars TOPSSSS on the road i think, liek one main, one backup at least.
That being said, style has a lot to do with a performance too (i.e. the mirror tele, or other "themed" guitars other bands use). Bands don't know how to put on a show anymore. If I wanted to just hear music, I'm not going to pay to watch you just stand there and play. I'll just listen to the CD. It's about $75 cheaper. I want a show. I want atmosphere and guitars set on fire. "Rockstars" provide that for their audience.
I like that at 10:13 you can hear the sound check band playing "Anywhere with You"... two years before it was recorded by Jake Owen!
Very interesting.
Good ear! Didn’t that album “barefoot blue Jean night” come out in 2011? Would have been around the same time this video was made . I saw jake Owen a couple times around 2011-2012 and that was always the first song they opened with . Great song!

Thank you Premier Guitar for doing these rig rundowns. AWESOME.
Not many people know that that LED Tele that he is using on Who Wouldnt Wanna Be Me at the very beginning... is a Squier.
Amen to that
+BroncosHeat a ot of the artist signatures are squires...one of the reason for the lower prices...John5 has several squire series...
Wild man

He just bought one of my guitars "Dean Gordon Guitar" hopefully he uses it this upcoming tour.
Watched it 7 times...Never gets bored!!!
Yes i have that on the today is the day album, he sounds like a melodic eric johnson, love the tone.
6:21 Keith Urban uses D'Addario Strings
10-46 on Fender-style (25.5")
11-49 on Gibson-style (24.75")
11-53 on Martin OMJM model acoustic (25.4")
Bram V D’Addario are awesome! I use 11-49 across the board myself.
I use 9-42 D’Addarios on my Jackson Kelly
I was at this show. Great tone!
@void2102 its called "who wouldn't want to be me" . a different version can be found on the album "keith Urban itunes originals"
@2:27
Those overtones are the voices of Angels that Jimi sent back to us to guide our way, "Trumpets and Violins, I can hear in a distance, I think they're calling our name"
That gold top is just beautiful
:) yeah some songs do sound like John Mayer but overall i find him more melodic, his pentatonic phrasing is beautiful like he did on the outro solo of God you Reign and today is the day. also the way he used the delay there's some edge influence i think
i love the green of the suhr!
keith is the tom cruise of guitarists
nice to know even Keith Urban needs to be able to see his side dots on stage
no neck binding on the '52 les paul?
I am not a big country fan, but Keith is one cool guy, and he has great taste in guitars.
Hey I'm from Jersey too I live in Edison. I need the action lowered in my tele where can I go thats not too far
What song are they checking aroun 11:34 in the video?!
Jake Owen - Anywhere With You
Tyler Hier Thanx, man!
What a cool laid back guitar tech
Is there a reason to have the cover off the whammy bar springs?
The start was just so badass

Did Keith low key invent those string damper things? 🤔 And that mirror faced Tele is awesome!
Whats the name of the first song? When he tunes his guitar down...
this was already uploaded.... but still kicks ass
Makes sense. Thanks for responding.
What song is he playing in the beginning where he tunes to drop D?
I wanna know too cause that way he down tuned after picking sounded soo AMAZING!
I found out! its called Who wouldn't want to be me.
Good job!
Did anyone heard John Mayer doing sound check around 8:00 ? Or is it just me
Jake Owen lol
A new Guitar Hero !!
Was he @ Summer Namm 2011
Any one have more info on the Tele style guitar Keith is playing in the sound-check footage? By the way, Rebecca Dirks does a better job on the Rig Rundowns!
DAMN I like to hear people who know music (I don't ) talking about music!
whats the name of the song in the beginning?

Whats he use for tele pickups
I find it funny that this was shot about an hour or so from my house! when it was shot though I wasn't much into guitar.
Im not a huge country guy, but I do like looking at other types of players gear
Love the herco picks
the song is "who wouldn't want to be me"....I'm assuming you're talking about the song where keith is playing guitar, if so that's it.
What's the intro song?
What's the song at 10:00?
Does Anybody Know What Brand Guitar Kieth Uses In The Blue Video
Eddie Etheridge Johnson & Johnson
You can also wrap a rubber band around the peghead if your getting pings, I do that on my Mustang. (looks better too)
+James Tomlin that's funny and I bet it does look cool...i just used a bandanna/handkerchief...got at thrift store... silk one for the tight weave and works great..and looks cool...well 2me
If I could have any guitar in the world, it would be Keith's '52 GT!
I love the mad scientist laugh at 14:05, 😆
He had the pick trick from U2's The Edge...
Country music is where the guitar tone is today, so join the party ; )
Great guitar tech!
Actually, It came out in 2011... And this tour was in '11
Cool tech ,nice vid
The opening song is...?!
Thanks a lot!
14:05-14:07 wtf!? that had me on the floor hahaha

isn't this a repost?
@thismika18 that video relates to this one? lol
Not a big fan of his music but the guy is an outstanding guitar player.
great guitarist...
9:02 intonation is kind of a suggestion! LMAO
Let me help you out Maverikk68 . These guitars are 40-50 yrs old and have been played. They are not similar to the Fender Squire that you see at your local music store.
Rock it beautiful 🎸❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌻
Te admiro y te aprecio mucho mi hermano
Nice!
He’s a smart gear man
Hi PG can you do a rig rundown on Lincoln Brewster? He's contemporary Christian musician, great guitar player.
Thank you :)
How come Keith Urban doesn't use Urban guitars?
Lol true
If you watch the updated RR, he does. After he does the solo for the song he uses it for, he gives it to a member of the crowd.
They may not have existed at the time of this one.
Hell yeah! that badboy can sing with those voodoo pickups in it!
They never talked about the LED Telecaster he used in the beginning!?!?
@2:46 it will take you to John Petrucci's guitar tech.... LOL

you like it now because it's not country. Don Rich was country
same
whats the first song??
Country guys like Urban and Brad Paisley are better players than most of the rock guys out there getting tons of attention. Guys like Brent Mason and JC Simo are on another level entirely
Um I would say maybe the nearest Guitar Center to you.
Guitar tech seams like a class act. Would love to talk to him.
That Clapton Strat's frets look bigger.
man I love guitars! B)
wonder when the 57's gonna come back. the 57 and stupid boy are like the hollow body and sweet thing...its just weird to see one without the other
I think I'm gonna go buy a tele from the custom shop, and flood it in my basement...maybe I'll get lucky and score an awesome tone. (heavily sarcastic)
Country is not my thing, but he's a wicked guitar player!
"Intonation is just only a suggestion" lol
Not if you use multiple tunings and want different tones from different guitars.
Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me. It's on Golden Road :)
You're right. You're not a rockstar... lol.
