As long as the current governor is in Florida I just can't consider it a retirement destination. Many cities in the South where they are currently trying to restrict our vote. I think we need to look at the political situation where you make your choice.
That because they know the power is in numbers, so they trying too do anything too stop our progress and too have a stronger communities with opportunities and leadership
I fully agree with you. Due to the politics of Florida, I will have to pass on any option in that state and that is disheartening, because I love their state tax structure.
Not worth moving here anyways, lots of Floridians are moving out including me. Florida is not a high-wage state like NY or Mass and every city has exploded in rent, and home insurance is stupidly expensive and becuase of Desantis and his deals, motor insurance is expensive and increased in price because of him, electricity is expensive and increased in price because of him. Florida also has the highest rate of Inflation out of any state. Cant even afford a home in my own home town, maybe 5-6 years ago it felt possible, but its not happening. Changing careers and getting tf out of here ,somewhere i can afford to be alive and get payed the same or better. Its gotten stupidly hot and extremely overcrowded during tourist season anyways.
As someone who lives in the Myrtle Beach area, I have no idea how it could be on a list for African Americans. How was this list compiled? No regard for political climate or voting rights, etc. etc.????
1st thought that comes to my mind I’d like to LIVE somewhere where race relations are conducive to me feeling comfortable being there 2nd on the list would be reasonably priced housing and cost of living in general and I’m not to keen on living anywhere where flooding is or will be within the next couple decades
Are they crazy, more thought must be put into these video's. I will stop watching and remove my subscription, they gonna get someone killed. Do your own search.
I am surprised and excited at the same time to see Sarasota, FL. on the list. I was told about 5 years ago about how racist the area is. I love diversity but have lived my entire adult life in very low (3%percentage) diverse areas (mostly white). I realize that negative energy can be found anywhere, but I was told Sarasota is openly uncomfortable for people of African descent. I am a 56-year-old professional from the midwest looking to move somewhere where I can plant my roots. Being near that beautiful beach could be life-changing! Please share your thoughts and experiences. Thank you!
Florida is the south, and people are creatures of habit. Monkey see monkey doo. So expect it to be religious Bible belt and racism, old remnants of the Confederacy and slavery. There's a reason 'the great migration' happened in US history for black people .
I'm surprised and Sarasota made it to the bus I live between Tampa and Sarasota and I believe Sarasota is racist. So not sure how and why it made the list
As a black woman 👩 I d like to retire in a community that is respectable of all people. I prefer a diverse community. I'm not hung up on black, all black.
One you- tuber claims crime is a big problem in Myrtle Beach! As a result the area has gone down, alot of home robberies! You must own a pistol for protection!
Florida is not a good place to retire. I lived there and rent has doubled in less than 5 years. Florida is very expensive and I lived in Tampa. If you don't bring in 3,000 a month you will struggle badly.
My major concern is having access to transportation since I do not own a car. Uber & Lyft are the few retirement options for local transportation in the South. What a great disappointment! as I was looking to relocate to a warmer climate. I pray future plans are implemented to have more extensive bus & even trolleys throughout the South & west to accommodate thousands!!
Both my uncle and grandmother retired in Tucson, surprised it made the list... glad it did, because if we could get more US out there... I'd be inclined to move there as well.
I see alot of brainwashed folks in these comments. How are your voting rights being taken away. Is it because conservatives want voter IDs? You must be OK with illegal immigrants voting.
I think we should all retire in Africa. Move as many family members there as we can and start over. Africa is rising again. 54 countries to choose from.
@@ambientacademy Americans should build our own communities their. If America wants to give us reparations, give us money to repatriate to Africa. In none of those cities, with climate change, the states like Florida and Texas are at higher risk of storm damage, so insurance costs would be higher. Also, there needs to be more mention of healthcare. Neither Texas nor Florida is known for great healthcare. Have you looked into Vancouver, Washington?
Sarasota, FL is on this list? This place has a bad reputation as being a city where blacks must represent themselves in a manner that is out of character. Try the other places on this list. It was not a good vacation spot for my family. However, black excellence is my best choice for moving advice.
These cities are ok but my recommendation for AA retirees are Boise ID Rochester MN Buffalo NY Winston Salem NC Kearny Neb Columbus OH OKC OK Billings MT Fresno CA Lexington KY
First you asked the question best places for retirement: you need sub-sections depending upon what you’re really looking for, cost, lifestyle, politics etc. I’m currently living in Sararsota Fl. Cost of living in Florida is relatively cheaper due to its low taxes for retirees. However since Covid and young people have relocated here since most can work from home. Housing cost has drastically increased in most major areas.. Besides the ass-h le GOVNER the states on this list ARE RED STATES!111. So dealing with politics is another issue. That doesn’t stop me from thinking, getting around or living my lifestyle. Play golf 3 to 4 days also we have group of BLACK GOLFERS about 40-80 guys we play every Monday , go to the beaches everyday, plenty of cultural activities here for blacks, I’m not trying to defend FLORIDA at all. Just letting you know the situation.. Frankly I’m ready for a change from Florida .. that’s why I’m on this site. From what I’ve seen and read I have to ask myself what is really best for my health and well being… Frankly I’d seriously consider Portugal but I know my wife won’t. It’s about what you’re looking for in life.
No way for african american families. You will feel isolated and not know any african americans. But if you want to go back in time to a free day. Well the desert is all around. You can rediscover your spiritual self. But for african american families. No way. I lived there for 10 years . I judge places by racism. I would say it's neutral as far as racism. With some here and there. Florida would be a little more racist I think from my experience. Well a mixed bag. But Florida is pretty racist. Colorado so far has been the best experience for my family as far as racism experiences. I feel safe walking around. And never experience it here . I know it exists here but it's like Sweden or Holland. It seems more curiosity than racism.
You mean, Oklahoma Alabama and Pennsylvania are not on here? I find it offensive you added the words Black, as Opposed just People. But if there was a channel that said White People retire here, you’d be mad as hell. Am I right? Yes. You can retire Anywhere you Like under 1,200 a month. That’s a good working figure! ❤
No, speaking for myself, I wouldn't be mad if they said White people retire here. You just demonstrated how little you know about racial situations in America. For instance, I'm very happy to know that the Governor of Florida is trying to make it harder for Blacks to vote or eradicate certain books from being taught in History classes, because it would keep me from making the mistake of moving somewhere I'm not wanted.
@@pls5201 You know what's laughable, I don't see a single predominantly black city on the list. Why is that if you're so concerned about racism? It's just like when you go through black neighborhoods and you see all those burglar bars. Those burglars aren't there to keep white people out. Black people know exactly who commits violent crimes. It's other black people.

right
Housing affordability in Sarasota or Tampa, FL? Black Excellence hasn't been here recently. Rents are up 31% in the last year.
You might be absolutely right, Covid has turned affordability upside down! That's the problem across the US.

Raleigh, Myrtle Beach and Winston-Salem, NC, Savannah, GA, Nashville, TN. I Would to visit and explore these cities, so I choose one for retirement.
No crime statistics, median price of homes, barely mentioned anything about medical care costs 🤦🏾♂️
