Everything about this is beautiful. A beautiful farm, beautiful country, beautifully done work, and beautiful outcome of flavorful cheese. God created beauty in all things.
Wow! You hit it out of the park with this one! Great job - almost want to make my own…. 30 gallons of milk for one cheese round? I think I need more sheep…. Lol
@@busyewefarmfibers 8 gallons (30 liters) went into 2 rounds 😍. His sheep produce about a liter per day, so you’d need 15 sheep to produce 1 round per day!
Probably need double that if you are feeding lambs too - unless you have multiple lambs. Haven’t been able to convince my ewes they only need 1 lamb and I can milk them. 😅
This is awesome. Hey, I'd LOVE a video about the new farm bill that was passed. NO one has talked about it yet. I'm trying to get a new homestead and want to know how I can make use of the new bill next year. Would love to hear your thoughts on it.
For a cave, rather than thinking cooler, think root cellar. A properly designed and built subterranean room will maintain a cool temperature year round. This will be difficult in Texas if your land is resting on top of a rock bed as some areas are. If you do have such a rock bed, explosives can give you the hole you need, but it will be more expensive and time consuming.
@theShepherdess We are gonna have to start a nationwide sheep cheese competition! I nominate you as a judge. Maybe even paid! (Get paid to eat cheese? Yes please! Hahaha)
Very informative! I'm curious, when you make your own cheeses will you be using different types of salt to see which brings the flavor out the best? Regular salt, Celtic sea salt, other sea salts etc.? If so, dialing in the correct amount of salt, especially in the more flavorful sea salts, will be an interesting and rewarding endeavor! I can already see the look on your face when you take a bite of the first one you made! Thank you for your tutorials!
@ I recently learned a bunch about salt. Especially the way the cells work with different salts. I've changed my diet to only use Celtic sea salt and I am noticing a difference! The flavor is delicious as well.
Lovely video - I think this may be my cheese making year. One question, I'm guessing he produces more whey each batch than he needs for any additional ferment. Do you know how he uses the excess? Feeding pigs, perhaps?
Hello! I have a question.. though it is not about this video. For your herd, do you castrate your rams when they are young if they are for meat only? Or do you allow them to grow out as normal regardless of if you indeed to sell them as breeding rams or meat? Thanks!

AMEN.
Outstanding video clear and to the point you make it look easy thank
So glad you enjoyed it!
Oh that’s my favorite kind of cheese. Pecorino and Manchego are the best.
👏🏻
OMG this is what memories are made of. So proud of you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Looks like a wonderful experience
It was! I can’t wait to make a batch now that I’m home. 🧀

I grew up growing sheep in Australia and thought it was insane we didn't make heaps of cheese 👏✌️
Awesome!! A great job, all the way around!!!
Thanks, I’m happy you enjoyed it!

Good suggestions!
Love it! I want to try to make cheese milk down the road, so happy to watch! :)
I can’t wait to try it myself now that I’m home. Just have to find a volunteer from my flock to convert from meat sheep to dairy. 🤣🧀🐑

I can’t wait to try my hand at a batch of my own. I didn’t consider which salt I’d use, but that’s some good food for thought - no pun intended :).

Are dorper sheep good for milk e and cheese?
Do you still live in Texas?
Yes 👍🏻
@ ok! I thought you had moved to Europe and were raising sheep. I’m from a neighboring state and your regional knowledge has been helpful.
