I really really fucking loved this album. Seriously, personally it's a strong 11/10. Then again, lately I've been going through a lot of therapy and shit, and have learned that I create rituals to ease my anxiety, so I can especially identify with the line "it's a bad, bad ritual. but it calms me down".
The track you posted is one of the best new songs that i have heard in a while. I love how it is kinda minimal with different layers. Its not over compressed like lots of music. His vocals sound awesome too. Thanks for the review. I am definitely getting this album
@xBerlinxUndergroundx Maybe. I'm not sure. We'll see when the year is over. Last year, I had about 50 albums I loved. Maybe I'll have more this year. :-)
@foolishlyable It's not really in the voice, but in the delivery and instrumentation that I hear some of Tom. The really raunchy sax solos totally scream "TOM!" for me.
Nick Cave could very well have sung the song 'Black Water', I thought it was hauntingly beautiful, and the music had a very nostalgic tone, which I love and look for in music like this. Yet another winner for me Anthony, you can't just let those good albums pass you by (you shouldn't!) You should review the new Crystal Stilts album, I think you said you would...have a lazy Sunday Anthony, contrary to mine :-)
I'm loving this album Anthony, it's going on my list, thanks for reviewing it! I probably wouldn't have given this album immediate attention if you hadn't reviewed it :-)
@foolishlyable Also, not to assume these guys are the same. They're def not. I could just see a Tom Waits fan enjoying this easily. I mean, I'm a big Waits fan myself. :-)
Took me 15 seconds into the song you linked to fall in love. Thanks for sharing with me some great music I knew nothing about! (Just watched their "Oh Messiah" video from a few years ago... Loving it.)
Thanks for reviewing this, I figured you'd enjoy it. Battles' new album "Gloss Drop" leaked as did Prefuse 73's "Only She Chapters" So you technically could do those >.>
Great, I wondered what you thought of it, and whether or not you listened to it. One of my favourites for 2011, but I have to say it's purely subjective, I am a tremendous fan of that psychotic love/ despaired obsessions approach of art. Gave it a big fat eight.
i think this album is crazy good....i love it. too short, but i love it. what i hate is that i can't listen to their previous albums to calm down my hungry of timber timbre because the sound is completely different....
Hey man, I recently came across your channel and I'm really diggin' it. Cool to find somebody reviewing something from my collection practically each day. If it's not a problem for you, do you mind listening and doing a review on Sing Fang's Summer Echoes? Came out in March, I believe. Thanks dude, really lovin' your shit!
Hey Anthony! Please review the new Bill Callahan, in Germany it's already out and I love it!!! By the way: Have you heard of Nardwuar? He's got some fancy interviews going on!
@theneedledrop I was just joking around with the fact that you seem to give pretty much everything that you enjoy quite a lot an 8. Loads of them recently. Not hatin' of course. Keep up the good work.
I'm very glad you like this album, i like it too, and i love this band!!!!! The creepiest album? Maybe: Twin Peaks Sondtrack, Faith- The Cure and of course Within the Realm of a Dying Sun-Dead Can Dance.
YES PLEASE REVIEW ONEIROLOGY I AM IN LOVE WITH IT AND I NEED YOU TO JUSTIFY MY OPINIONS btw, you predicted Pitchforks Tomboy score wrong it was a 8.5 lol. Better luck next time Anthony.
An unabridged version of a conversion between Anthony and I about Oneirology: Me:Hey Tony! You hears 'bout dat new Cunnin' album? Tones:Sures, sures. Bit overproduced-the beats outshine the words y'know? Tha lyricism seem to be in da back seat for the ride naymean? Likes the woofer is wub'n in tha trunk, the samples is shake'n n' shit, but the emcees is yellin' n' the back sayin' "HeyKNO, you wanna tone down thos beats so I can spit that poetic shit!??" Me:Yea, yea-aint bad tho. Tones:decent 6.
@UseHERname93 But seriously, you want a good review of Oneirology check sputnikmusic review/42445/CunninLynguists-Oneirology/ I asked Anthony what he thought of it, he listened to hit, and basically said it was overproduced and that he wasn't digging on it too much. Don't expect a review. Enjoy the album though man, it's definitely a good one.

@Creamy360 thank you for your kind words.
Somehow, you manage to make albums I normally wouldn't go anywhere near sound absolutely fucking amazing.
Played "Black Water" about 50 times after you blogged it last month. Psyched for this LP.
@foolishlyable It's not really in the voice, but in the delivery and instrumentation that I hear some of Tom. The really raunchy sax solos totally scream "TOM!" for me.
@finalman9 Thank you for enjoying it!

I'm requesting reviews of Battles - Gloss Drop, and TV on the Radio - Nine Types of Light. Whenever you can get to them!
@MackasaurFM I figured it would be a lulzy experiment.
Love how he holds the CD the entire video even though the album art is on his green screen too.
@foolishlyable Also, not to assume these guys are the same. They're def not. I could just see a Tom Waits fan enjoying this easily. I mean, I'm a big Waits fan myself. :-)
Not really too similar but the person that plays the violin is in the band Forest City Lovers

listening to Black Water: I don't like when he dives too deep into his lower register, but everything else is pretty amazing. might have to buy.
Great, I wondered what you thought of it, and whether or not you listened to it.
