Thank you for review. I'm 50 years old with oily skin. I live in Hot, Humid, South Florida. Seeing how shiny and oily your face looked discouraged me not buy this product!! Thank you.
One of my favorite tinted physical sunscreen for my fair skin and doesn’t oxidize or look orange is Colorscience Sunforgettable Total Protection SPF 50 universal tint. The finish is beautiful. It’s also hydrating. Plays well under most foundations.
I'm getting ready to re-start this series, so I'll keep that one in mind. I do prefer more affordable sunscreens, though. I personally believe it should be attainable to everyone - more like the $20 range.
Great Video, sorry Elta MD didn't work 4u, As 4 myself it is truly my Holy Grail Sunscreen, worth every red cent I spend. I am a mature skined woman as well, dry skin, with peach/ Gold undertones, Elta does not oxidize on me and I can go without foundation in a pinch, it works and blends well with any and every foundation I use, most especially with Futurist Hydrating BB. Thanks again, hope u find ur Holy Grail sunscreen soon
Sorry that it did not work out for you! It’s my favorite sunscreen, goes well with my skin tone and also does not dry me out but I do have an oily skin. Is there sunscreen you think might be good for oily skin?
I found you when I did a search for The Elta MD sunscreen review. I first heard of it from Angie. I so appreciate you including your skin type. The Australian Gold has been my go to but I feel like it’s really been settling into the fine lines under my eyes. I’m happy to have found your channel. Off to find your other sunscreen reviews.
Thanks for commenting! I have a playlist of my sunscreen reviews. I tend to be sensitive to mineral sunscreens and find them a bit drying which I try to mention in each video so everyone knows where I'm coming from. I, too, tried the Australian Gold, but found it to be very drying. I hope you enjoy the reviews!
I used the Australian Gold tinted sunscreen and it ruined my skin barrier, it was very dehydrating and I had to wash my face 3 times to remove it. Do you have dry skin?
@@MissDa255 I'd say my skin is normal to dry, but I found the AG to just DRY ME OUT. So uncomfortable, I put it on once and said 'this is never touching my face again." However, because it's tinted, I will wear it on my chest because me chest is red and this tones it down, and once AG sets (about 20min) it WILL NOT MOVE. I found a lot of my sunscreens would rub off on my seat best and the AG won't.
I have mature (57) year old skin a bit on the dry side and I absolutely swear by this sunscreen. I wear it everyday and most of the time as my foundation with some concealer in places where I need it...its my holy grail! It is not orange on my skin at all but I think that will definitely depend on your skintone. If you want to try another Elta Md mineral sunscreen try the spf 41 tinted which I feel has a much lighter tone - almost grayish but does settle down a bit. That may match your skintone better - it was too light for me...
The funny thing is, my skin isn't really dry. This is the 2nd Elta MD I've tried and they just don't work for me. It's fine, though. There's plenty of options out there. I only use mineral after microneedling, I MUCH prefer Asian sunscreens to mineral. It's interesting that it doesn't get orange on you, I wonder if it has something to do with PH of the skin.
I also get the orange color and dryness with this sunscreen. I have to mix it with a mineral sunscreen that has more of a white cast to tone down the color.
Same here, after I used it my moms said to me ‘you look like an orange’ 😂 but I got the wrong one, they got so many sunscreens that is a little bit overwhelming 😬
I haven't tried it. I do my best to keep the price range on the lower end since I believe price should not be a barrier. Although from time to time I do toss in something more expensive. I may try the Clinique later on down the line!
Tinted sunscreens are always too dark for me. I can use them on my cheeks, because they do cover my rosacea, but ooh- I look like an Oompa Loompa! The Australian Gold is okay; I find it a little drying, but I have über dry skin.
The Australian Gold doesn't work for me. The color is ok - but it's very drying. Sucks up all the moisture in my face. I will use it on my chest - if you let it set for 30 min, it won't budge, so I know my seat belt isn't rubbing off my sunscreen. It won't transfer, either. But you have to give it a solid 30 to set.
I also have rosacea and am on the drier side. Girl, that Australian Gold sucks all the moisture out of my skin & im not even super dry. Idk how you stand it lol. Try the Colorscience Total Protection Face Shield. Has super beautiful coverage, will not dry you out at all. I’m very fair & blonde-and even full strength w 1/4 tsp-it’s almost a perfect match. If it leaves a line, you can run it down your neck to blend. Another more affordable combo is the Cetaphil Sheer Mineral liquid Sunscreen, let that dry the 15 min, and then go in with the Paula’s choice tinted blue. (I find that one too dark and drying on its own, but it’s beautiful over more white cast sunscreens & has decent coverage.)
Thanks for the review. I’ve been wondering if to try this but I would have to order from the US and pay customs, shipping and exchange rate so it will cost me around $55. My skin is similar to yours, Australian gold is way to dry. I’ll look up your other reviews.
I love how this mineral sunscreen looks and feels but it is way too dark for me, now I have all the foundations 2 shade lighter just to make it work. Any recommendations to mix it with? Or any other mineral sunscreen? The Australian gold it ia too thick and drying imho.
I also don't like that Australian Gold. You might mix it with something not tinted just to cut the color a bit. I also really like Versed. It's not very light, so again, it may just cut the color. It's very comfortable though.
Rather than mixing, I put a good layer of Elta’s untinted Replenish and top it with some Elements. It helps tone down the Elements while the Elements helps cut the white cast. The formulas are very similar, so they work well together. A reviewer on the Elta website had commented that when she asked Elta about mixing Elements with another untinted sunscreen, they suggested Replenish.
Thank you for your review, I had the same experience. It went on beautifully and then the color changed. It's a no go for me, I will not repurchase. The Cerve tinted spf 30 works better for me, it's a little dark but I layer it over Neutrogena Healthy Defense spf 50 moisturizer. I'm excited to try Versed, have you tried it yet?
It doesn't seem to turn orange in everyone, a few people told me it doesn't for them - so it might be a PH thing...but my face was really sensitive when I washed my face at night - there's something in this that doesn't agree with me.
I just couldn’t wear that much on my face!! How did it feel?? I just would want to wash immediately. I’ve seen how beautiful you are with and without makeup and this isn’t for you hun.
This is my favorite in the summer..I mix with a tad of lighter shade of No 7 Protect and Perfect. And this doesn't dry me out. But in the winter I'm afraid this won't be enough moisture! I am looking for a tinted mineral moisturizing sunscreen!
I'm really not sure. I know when I washed my face at the end of the day, it actually hurt, as if I had a sunburn, so I could be sensitive to something in it. You might want to try the MyChelle.
This sunscreen irritated my skin as well. Paula's Choice mineral does the same thing if I use for several days in a row. It's sad because I love the way Paula's Choice sunscreen looks on my skin.
Omg i had the exact same issue! The paulas choice mineral sunscreen is just my exact tone and i loved the formula sm on my skin, unfortunately after 2 days it irritated it. Glad to found this comment because if you found the elta md irritating i might as well will find it the same.
I am 22 and I got this! Sadly this is way way way too oily on me! Makes me greasey! I dunno how anyone can get the recommended amount with this without looking shiney! Australian Gold is much better but the colour is very pinky on me! :( I need yellow warm based undertones! This has a great undertone but the finish for me isnt great!
@@meganfc7094 Yes. I use this on my chest sometimes (far too drying for my face) and washing my hands after application is a monster. However, once it sets, I know my seat belt or purse strap isn't going to rub it off!

I love this sunscreen. It doesn't make my skin greasy at all. Oddly enough, it feels less greasy as the day goes on.

It actually looks really good on you, the glow makes your skin looks supple and young….
Fantastic review! I came here to see the sunscreen, but ended up actually looking into your foundation - it looks amazing on your skin!
Thanks, Julie! This was a while ago, but I'm guessing I was wearing the MUFE Reboot - which really lies nicely on the skin!

I think this kind of talking should be the real asmr. The whispering kind of asmr is stressful while this is calming
It's true! Some people do the whispering well, but often enough it is stressful!
Can you share what the extra moisturizer you use before the sunscreen? Thanks so much. Loving just finding you!

You don't look oxidized at all in this video. What is the spf finish, Matt, shinny...?

I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one! It looks so pretty and "normal" on LisaJ!
It is so hard to tell a persons completion on camera. Unless she is a darker tanned color, it must look the same on her.

Strange it doesn’t go orange on me…
Is it for oily skin
Love the eyebrows
I wish that this one didn't have the orange cast. The higher spf in it would have been great.
