Just incase the video doesn't get enough likes to qualify as "public interest" I would like to state that I am very publicly interested.
Ditto
I'm public interest incarnate right here. I don't normally watch hours long videos about the law. These are the exception.
Reporting in from the other side of the planet (Australia) to confirm that this story has become of international public interest because dang it, I am very interested in this shitshow.
Ian, Runkle of the Bailey. You are needing very cheeky in this case and I am here for every minute of your opinions and being entertained by these readings. I would never call her Janette, my sister deserves her name because she is an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and Aunt. Just an Amazing woman. Right, Janet?
me too
"Did it make you angry when the defendants called you "Janet"?"
[slowly escalating tea kettle noises]
As a native Illinoian, I am laughing that “Janet” is trying to claim that Day couldn’t get information about bar complaints in Illinois 😂 This is a state that practically runs on gossip and innuendo and chatty office workers are pretty easy to find! We may have the large city of Chicago, but at heart Illinois is basically a small town state as far as who knows whom and how information as well as gossip travels like wildfire! All I had to do was mention Braun in context with social media to a friend who works for a Chicago law firm, and she mentioned that she has heard rumors of complaints regarding her conduct alleged in these civil cases. For context, I am just a law nerd who lives 4 hours south of Chicago and getting the rumors of bar complaints against “Janet” took me about 15 minutes! 😂😂😂😂
Co-signed, as an Illinois native who grew up nearish Springfield but moved out of state.
Omg, Runkle saying: "The hosts of the 'DWKT' podcast, uh 'The Girlies'," with such a calm affect without missing a beat. 😂
the girlies stan runkle
When does he say that?
@@thelilzchannel I would say, at this point Runkle is one of the Girlies!🙌🏼🩵
I can’t wait to see Janet’s disastrous, grammatically ambiguous, reply. I can almost hear the frustration from here.
And hear her pounding on the keyboard in outrage 😂
@@AliciaL98lol. You can picture her stomping around the Chicago UPS store having a tantrum “THIS IS DEFAMATORY!!! THEYRE DEFAMING ME!!!!! ROARRRWWWRRRRREWWWRRRRR”
@@carolinetuohy10 😂😅 💜
Who’s Janet, I thought she was Jenny?
@@carolinetuohy10"stomping around the Chicago UPS store" 🤣💀!!
calling janette braun "janet brown" made me unreasonably happy. 😂😂😂😂
english is my second language and I only barely hear the difference 😅
@@Acinnn there is a difference and it's ok for people to prefer their own name (rather than a similar one!) and get annoyed when someone gets it wrong. Where Jeanette gets it wrong, especially for a "social media lawyer", is suing about it - it does NOT rise to the level of a tort and AS A LAWYER SHE SHOULD KNOW THIS - and letting the internet know a very simple way to needle her.
I would like to see Caffeinated Kitty sue for Janet Swatting her.
As someone who works for lawyers, what I would give to hear the office chatter about this case
I have some lawyer friends consuming this mess as idle chatter to escape their cases for a bit. One of them told me that this is the kind of case they would love to take just because of how stupid it is 🤣
A "rouge attorney" sounds even more scandalous... Sounds like an euphemism for something out of 19th century Louisiana.
more like from the caribbean - Sparrow & Sparrow LLC Black Pearl Office ?
I picture a lady lawyer/bartender in a Gold Rush town who stands up for her girlies and is the anti-Janet of her time.
Sounds like a working title for the failed show based on Erin Brokovitch from a couple years ago starring Katy Segal called ‘Rebel’.
@@danielweston9188 defends pirates by pinning a red voodoo doll on the judge's door!
@@juliankohler5086 Careful, judges of that day were often carrying pistols and swords and could call out the local militia.
I think people were supposed to cower and shut up, not actually counter. Janet’s gonna be so confused.
Man, I'm just waiting for the filing that starts with "i, a federal attorney"
🤣🤣🤣
i believe she prefers **federal civil attorney
Shouldn't Jeanette, being a "federal civil attorney" have known she would be hit with the anti-SLAPPs from wherever all the defendants live?
Different states have different anti-SLAPP laws (pretty some dont have any at all). Thats why she was fighting on the state where the suit was gonna go
She doesn't give me the impression that she's a very good lawyer. She gave another influencer advice on requiring customers who purchase their merchandise to agree to not post negative reviews of it during the checkout process- which is illegal.
@@weremutt8yeah but now the other side is arguing the anti-SLAPPs from where the defendants live apply. That will be a huge problem for them
@@weremutt8 It's my (untrained) belief that this was a major reason why she was trying so hard to get the courts to acknowledge diversity jurisdiction. Several federal circuit courts have held that state anti-SLAPP laws cannot be applied in federal court because of a supposed conflict with the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (in particular w.r.t. those rules not allowing dismissal before a certain phase). She likely wants this in federal court because she's banking on this judge concurring with those existing rulings and refusing to let the defendants avail themselves of their states' anti-SLAPP laws.
(Yes, this is why we need a federal one, but good luck getting that through the current crop of do-nothings smearing poo all over the walls of the Capitol.)
Lets be honest. The girlie's lawyers were having so much fun throwing shade at this crap that the tears from laughing kept them from proofreading.
Just to add my two cents to say that I am among the public, and I am interested in this story of DMCA abuse and SLAPP lawsuits, so I think the "public interest" qualification has been achieved.
I’ll give you a second on that vote
A petition to legally change Jeanette to Janet would be hilarious. Not actually binding of course, but amusing to no end.
I move to call her Janet Brown from here on out.
@@AllisonMcCarty-gv6ksin the initial lawsuit they mistyped Lauren as Laura and I've been calling them Laura and Janet ever since
If I was in civil litigation, I would hire Runkle to argue my case by just reading my lawyer's filings with his natural snark.
Worth every penny.
"It's generally good practice in the pleadings to not tank your own pleading" had me LMAO 😂❤
Throughout this whole affair, there's one essential piece of advice to anyone - especially attorneys:
Do NOT rely on a spell checker when you are writing out an important document.
I declare being a representative of interested public from far away, Poland, don't mistake with Holland. We have also pigeons here!
Europe tuning in! I am a representative interested public from Sweden, often mistaken for Switzerland... We do have pigeons, they seem to be everywhere :)
As a fellow old continent native, more specifically Italian that gets confused for France for some strange reason I declare my public interest. Also, we do have a lot of pigeons here.
For the record, as someone living in Australia 🇦🇺, I find this content & pigeon business of profound public interest.
As the child of lawyers, as well as sibling thereof, I find this fricking HILARIOUS. How not to legal, Janet, how not to legal 🤣🤣🤣
Jeanette and her client seems quite immature. Almost as if they are stuck with a high school mentality. There is absolutely nothing about this that speaks of maturity.
My guess is their mental maturation was stunted in middle school. This reminds me of the mean girl tactics 7th graders would use to get their way.
It would be nice if they ended up having to pay all of the attorney fees and court costs. It's too bad that the defendants couldn't get money as well.
On another note, when you discuss Jeanette, I always picture the kids from Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory. I picture her as a cross between the girl that blew up and turned blue, and the girl that had to have her own way. I picture jeanette like the girl that blew up because she is full of hot air. I picture her as the spoiled brat because she seems like a person that would have a temper tantrum whenever she doesn't get her way.
As someone who knew Janet, yes she was thought to be someone who got easily offended/took herself a bit too seriously
I was thinking middle school mentality. 😛
@@oknowIguessjanet has augustus gloop energy
ALLEGEDLY MAY I ADD
Who else is here from Markie?? 🎉
I hope Janet steps on a Lego.
But seriously, I am very invested in this saga. Janet has absolutely no leg to stand on. And I really do hope she is being investigated! She deserves to be fined at minimum. Please keep us updated! I cannot wait to hear the next filings.
What did Legos ever do to you to deserve that?
After this breakdown, I feel even more like Janet’s lawsuits and allegations must read like the archetypal middle school girl writing in her diary about people who said mean things about her. “And then she went on TikTok and told everyone I was in trouble with the Bar Association! 😭 “
Thanks as always for the coverage, Runkle.
It’s the burn book from one scorned lawyer who needs to get therapy, in my opinion.
😂😂
Janet petitioning the court, Regina George xeroxing the burn book. I see no difference
@@the_keeperofchaosRegina was better at pulling it off though! 😂😂😂

43:55 Another thing about this: Someone DID ask her directly- and subsequently received an extremely negative reaction that some would consider threatening. So asking her about it is, historically speaking, not a safe action.
Any time anyone has asked her anything directly they have seemed to get a negative and threatening response...
For some reason the rock wall plated with steal and covered in spikes reminded me of “There’s a monster at the end of this book”. Grover trying to build a brick wall to stop you from reading the next page. 😂
You just brought back SO many childhood memories, and that is such a hilarious mental image!!
I love how my previously unconnected entertainment niches have combined with you, Markie, MadCatster, etc. LawTube and DramaTube Unite!!!!!
I am as invested in this as I was with the Depp trial. LETS GO IAN TELL US ALL THE TEA!!!!!
Runkle you are a rouge attorney! I am shocked and applauded!
Look at his shirt. Definitely a rouge attorney.
I have *strong contempt* for Lauren Propson and Jeanette "Janet" Braun _based solely on their behavior and their actions._ I subscribed! I clicked the LIke button! I'm helping!
What a very publicly interesting topic that I, a member of the public, am highly interested in.
This is pure schadenfreude :) It seems like Janet's been enjoying using the takedown requests and legal threats to silence creators all over and it's finally coming back to bite her
Their complete lack of foresight is rather astonishing. I mentioned how immature they seem in another post.
The Swatting is an example of how juvenile their thought processes are.
They do not think of the fallout from their actions. Only how they can harass others and not the consequences of doing so.
All while playing the victim card.
Like a kid would do.
It is funny to see them hoisted on their own petards, yes, but their lack of discretionary intellect is rather disturbing.
In teens that are juiced on hormones and mean girl spirits, it is bad enough.
But as a supposedly functioning adult, that lack of self awareness is a dangerous thing.
And it will bite them on their asses.
Poor Bob is really going through it.
Caffinated kitty and lauren the mortician used the same hashtag coincidentally, for their viewers to call on them. That's the only thing the two had to in common
LTM also started copying Kitti’s speech patterns. Which was a little weird.
Dammit Janet, this is going to be expensive 😂
Thanks for posting this in the middle of the Rust madness. You do too much for us. Now go have a nap ❤
Liking to upset Janet.
Grabs popcorn gets ready for another one of my favourite UA-camrs videos. In this series a competent lawyer discusses an incompetent lawyer and her clients crazy antics.
it's fun from the sidelines, but crap lawyers like janet can seriously damage peoples lives with their malice and ignorance.
@Lazrael32 Agreed. Janet knows enough to be dangerous, and this lawsuit, regardless of how frivolous we think it is, is causing real frustration and financial harm to the defendants. This has to be very stressful for them even if, in my opinion, Janet probably won't succeed on the merits of the case.
Anyone else love it when Runkle laughs in “lawyer”? 😂
Janet is off the planet if she thinks she's got a claim here!
Can you do a video on the case between Lisa Frank and Glamour Dolls and their kickstartee scam? Jens Luvs did two videos about it but didnt know much about the current lawsuits they had against each other
You've done an amazing job on breaking this stuff down, thanks for that! The ladies definitely picked a good lawyer, he is fire AF. He's making everything Janet does look like "pigeon business" 😂😂
What does "pigeon business" mean?
@@marymegrant1130 It's what Runkle says when he refers to someone not knowing what they're doing. 😂
@marymegrant1130 Runkle has said picture playing chess with a pigeon. They are knocking over the chess pieces, 💩 on the board, etc. There is no strategy at play because you are “competing” with a pigeon. It’s just “pigeon business.”
Every time you call her by name "Janet" I hear in my brain brad saying "dam it Janet!"
I need to thank Janet & Lauren Mortician woman for providing the grounds for this ongoing entertainment.
I greatly look forward to Janet’s legal response… from a public interest perspective, of course.
"I like kids." Third interpretation: They're tasty basted in a garlic-rosemary-olive oil blend and slow roasted at 280 deg F for 30 minutes per pound.
That fact you acknowledged "The Do We Know Them" podcast host as "The Girlies" makes you even more awesome than I already thought you were.
I think It would be fun. If the judge says she is a rouge Lawyer and dissmiss the case.
This will never go to trial . . . I can see a counter suit before it's over and a default judgement in that case.
if the anti-SLAPP motion fails, Janet is being pretty reckless in forgetting that *discovery works both ways*
Back in 1994 Workers Comp sent me to college to be a paralegal (Legal Assistant). I graduated the course and received my AAS as a Legal Assistant with a 4.0 GPA, never worked the field as I was 52 and no attorney wanted to hire an old man who had been a cop for 24 years as a legal assistant I guess. Anyhow your recent videos remind me a lot of my college days, and I find them great fun. Having ben a gun collector and FFL dealer for 20 years as well and holding a certificate as a Gun Smith, I love the gun videos so you videos bring me home on those as well. Thanks for the great effort, since I am now living on workers comp and SSI, I can't afford to buy you a cup of coffee, I hope my thanks helps, I did click the like and so forth so thanks again, I shall keep up watching and continue to learn the law.
Me: Oh yes, I need to watch Runkle discuss Janet.
Kid: Who's Janet?
Me: Jeanette Braun. She's a crazy internet lawyer.
Kid: Is she the one you watch with the big glasses?
Me: (Sorry, EDB!) Oh, no no no. She's not crazy. Braun is more of a influencer lawyer--
Kid: Oh! I know who you talking about. Yeah, she's out there.

The fact that I have yet to see a video on this titled as "Damnit, Janet!" yet deeply troubles me.
IME with my own SLAPP suit, there was a prevailing party fee as well as attorney and court fees. She could be in the hole for a lot of money.
Totally came for the Runkle snark! This may be one of the goofiest lawsuits ever!
This court case never disappoints. it just keeps getting funnier and funnier. 🤣
…and the saga continues…
I actually didn't know her name isn't Janet until an hour into this video.
Maybe those ants slap? Look, I don't know. It's something the kids all say.
"Your dragons can go on a little trip" LOL. Janet didn't think that dragons could travel!!
Janet was filing false copy write strikes under Bunnie XO and Bunnie fired Janet. Imo Bunnie fired Janet to get out of this mess
She seemed very proud of Janet’s work ethics and recommended her to many of her friends… Now she suddenly doesn’t agree!🤡
How much privilege is there if a person testifying about you is proven to have lied ❓
Based on Janet's actions in this case (these cases?), I would never hire her. Again, that's based on JANET'S actions.
Costs should really be awarded automatically to the winner, to be paid by the loser, like in the UK. Also company leadership should be held individually accountable for authorizing lawsuits that are proven to be frivolous.
Hi. I'm not a lawyer and i'm not interested in becoming one, i know NOTHING about law and i really couldn't care less about US law, because i'm Italian and most of US law is sci-fi here. However, for some reason i can't stop watching your videos! I love the shade and the professionalism, you're such a great example of how people can be extremely funny while being incredibly professional! Keep up the good work. Oh, by the way. In case you're reading this, I'm VEEEERY publicly interested, Janet.

Both, ‘rouge’ and ‘rogue’ are actually of French origin.🫣

Once upon a time people were too busy taking care of important stuff to get involved in such nonsense.
Ridiculous
The phrase "May have bitten off more than she can chew," keeps popping into my mind about Janet's current position.
Braun asserts that "Do We Know Them" is the internet equivalent of the National Enquirer... then tries to claim defamation SMH...

The sordid fall of Bob Loblaw headcanon accepted.
Like every math test, show your work.
I would think that a lawyer calling another lawyer "unethical" would have a greater weight than a layperson calling a lawyer "unethical". The former having a deeper understanding of lawyer ethics requirements than a non-legal outside observer, who has different experiences and expectations of a lawyer's behavior.
Since Braun can be pronounced Brown, she should be exclusively called Janet Brown from now on.
Awesome! So happy to see an update and you ROCK!

A lawyer that goes around threatening and then actually suing people for saying things they don't like, should not be a lawyer, they don't seem to have the sober disposition required for such an important role in society. And definitely should not teach law...
