Enjoyed your video I've alot of family and friends buried there.I left Belfast 40 years ago as a teenager some great memories growing up around Glengormley and the Carnmoney Road..👍
Hi MP. Great to hear from you. So many folks did exactly the same as you did and for good reason. Back then there wasn't a lot of hope around for the future of wee N Ireland. Things today here have changed vastly for the better in so many directions. It is said that Ireland's, ( north and south ) greatest export is people and it's not wrong. I have a lot of Belfast videos up you might be interested in. Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills.
What a beautiful cemetery, little Elaine's grave is beautiful, a beautiful statue for a precious little girl, you're like myself Tom, I'm very passionate for these beautiful places and I can tell you're passionate about them too, very interesting place with the mixture of war graves. The scenery is breathtaking too, another fantastic video ❤️
Yes Sue a place of solitude to sit and reflect. I will go back. I managed to miss seeing the Hugh Colvin VC winner grave! Aaaaaah! I'm sure there will be one or two more too! Another run on the old motorbike is called for! Your kind comments though, cover a multitude of my presentational 'sins'! I'm just on old, amateur, goat who is trying to show people what is out there and get them to get out and see it for themselves! I'm afraid many of us become complacent as regards our scenery. I take nothing in life for granted. You're doing a grand job! I'm not trying to be a bum or be patronizing but you might be interested in checking out this wee video I did 3 years ago. My stats have doubled since then. I'm well pleased. Keep 'er lit. Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills. This is awesome Tom, that's a good idea to get Peter on board he does a grand job. My word there is such a lot to see all ways so much history and interest in these sacred places, and I dare say you will back.
I will be back Chris. I found out that Hugh Colvin VC winner's grave is in this cemetery! Oh dear! How did I miss it!! Aaaaaah! Just up the road is one of the oldest Presbyterian churches in the land! I missed it too! Aaaaah! lol
Hello Tom . That is one big cemetery I am sure there are many stories to be found , interesting that the war graves are all over the cemetery most of the time you see them grouped together , beautiful place nice backdrop with Cave Hill. Thanks Tom.
Hi Shaun. It is big. I hope to go back up that way. About the war graves, in some cemeteries they are indeed grouped together. In others like this one they are spread about.
LOL IK, I was up filming the cracking new skate park and realized I was near the cemetery! I want to get back to Carnmoney to do a video on the Carnmoney hill history and ancient Presbyterian church. I never know what I'm doing in advance because I have quite a few commitments! Things change from day to day!!!! Thanks as ever for the support!
A great place you’d maybe like to visit would be the knockagh monument, it’s only 2 or 3 mile down the road from the cemetery. It’s off the back road to carrick, just at the back of monkstown. It doesn’t look like a lot when driving along the road but it’s huge up close, an amazing memorial to those who died in the wars I think. If you got it on google you’d get directions handy enough. I think it’s possibly one of the only places I haven’t seen you do a video on so far, you fairly get around. But sure why wouldn’t ya, in the great weather. Thanks Tom.
Hi IKYR, Yes I have been up too Knockagh monument years ago. I have held back a bit on going back though and then I just forgot about it! I may return because there is a great view and the monument is historically significant. So thanks for reminding my old brain. Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hill.
Hi Tom the little girls grave Elaine is beautiful but heartbreaking 💔nice video and war graves are very interesting. I found alot like these in church cemetery cobh Co. Cork
Hi GV! Great to hear from a 'fellow traveler', so to speak. I love walking round and exploring older graveyards. There are so many sad stories though, like this wee girl from the past. This unfortunately is part of what we have to deal with in life. We've been down in Cork a few times. we even stayed in it for a fortnight decades ago. What a great spot! Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills.
There is also a hidden graveyard opposite the church. Very overgrown but ancient burial ground. You need to get up Carnmoney Hill soon. So much history, can arrange a tour for you with someone who has knowledge of it all 👍
Hi David. Many thanks for this information. I love it when folks like yourself tell me about hidden gems in their area. I only realized that the local churches were so interesting and historic after I got home!!! Carnmoney Presbyterian church is well worth a visit. I have never explored Carnmoney hill. In truth I don't even know where it is. A tour would be interesting! Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills.
Hi BS. I'm sure you are right. In a perfect world this would always happen. I however, do not live in that perfect world where I have lots of free time to research and so forth. My days are very full with family responsibilities etc Very often I literally stumble upon graveyards/old churches/ etc that I was unaware of. Making videos takes a lot of time, energy and money. I am approaching 70 and a complete amateur enthusiast. I do not have these things to hand. Unsurprisingly there are not lots of people out there trying to do what I do, again there are not a lot who have produced the volume of videos that I have. I do try to do prep before arriving at a video site but in this case it was limited because my internet investigations yielded very little.
@@TomMcClean completely get it, and thank you for posting , I do enjoy your content, and stumbling across somewhere of interest is always a pleasure....
Hey many thanks BS. My wee channel is limited in what it can do. My wish is simply to make people aware of what is out there by offering them a give a bit of a 'taster'. Hopefully will be enough to encourage them to go and see places for themselves. I know my presentation etc leaves much to be desired. I have been described as rustic in my approach. I would accept this description. I do stumble in more ways than one. lol Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills.

@@TomMcClean Cork is beautiful Tom we were only in cobh at the weekend doing some videos.
Tom i'm going to watch this on tv after tea (Her in doors is calling me to the table ) so will send another post after viewing.
Great stuff Chris. I get called for tea too. If I'm a second or two or three too long it's curtains! So I understand! lol

My mums buried on the right hand side road
Hi Michael. Carnmoney Cemetery will be a special place for you.
I didn't go into the East Cemetery as I thought it was for the newer graves.
@@TomMcClean it is Tom that's why I recognise it
I think a little prep before visiting might help in finding interesting graves etc ...
