When i was taught to drive we were told to approach flood water with caution and proceed slowly to not produce bow waves, not too fast to prevent aquaplaning.
They should have taught you to go fast enough to produce a bow wave but not fast enough to overtake it - you want the front of the car to stay in the dip behind the wave. Aquaplaning happens around 50-60mph so yeah you definitely don't want to go that fast! XD
The problem is that so many drivers drive through flood water too fast, you need to go through it as slowly as possible whilst keeping the exhaust blowing, you then need to test your brakes when it’s safe to do so once you’re through the floods, I drove through 2 floods this evening driving home from work.
What an excellent idea, to showcase the possible need for a breakdown truck ! - It would have been amazing publicity for your company, if one of those vehicle owners had broken down there, and needed a tow !
Maybe some customers claimed for damage, when there was no damage too And wouldn't surprise me in this day and age with No - win- No fee ,Your company was probably told ,a customer claimed it cost them £100 to have their suit dry cleaned 😊
Was always taught not to drive through flood water because you never know whats underneath. Having said that if I was local and knew the road I would chance it.
As a former cocky land rover owner, off road prepared with off road tyre, body lift, snorkel for wading and much more I found out the hard way during a flood. Manhole cover was dislodged and smashed my wheel as I smuggly drove through.
@@graememckay9972 Interesting how many snorkel vehicles are driven so fast the wheel spray actually reaches the inlet. The crews with snorkel submarines had terrible troubles in high seas when the ball valve cut of the inlet and the hungry diesels sucked air out of the boat.
Nope just wetting all the electrics. Saw a tesla try something like this once. Completely wrote of his 60k tesla. Because of all the electrics it destroyed the car.😂
I think exactly the same thing about Burke Bros when I see them around Stafford. The flooding was awful here on other roads too. Last year our car was scrapped after the power steering was destroyed after driving through a flood on Beaconside.
9.57 😂 navara wouldn’t go thou 😂.. I’d of had no hesitation to go thou that with my Navara .. even coach would have got thou .. ain’t that deep that water 🤣

I wouldn't be going through. It's not the engine that's the problem, it's everything else. Water getting into electrical connectors, suspension joints, bearings and even gearboxes (those have breathers). Just not worth the few minutes extra it would take to go around.
Dont be so silly lol .Water offers a high resistance to water ,and although I understand your concern, but it's the water getting into the air filter that causes most problems Those electrical connections would have to exposed to water for several weeks to cause any major issues
You should take a look at where we live. On UA-cam put in Mersea island Strood. We have a causeway that floods several times a month and the idiots that drive through and get stranded is ridiculous 🤦♀️🤣 we have a camera so we can watch the action over there.
What I find amazing is that no one bothered to check their brakes after driving through the ford, puddle, pond, call it what you will. Though I did think the Renault at 4:46 was going to.
No need with disc brakes. I mean they'll possibly be a bit weak for half a second or so, but not really an issue. Remember, disc brakes are exposed to the weather anyway. If you're in a vintage car with drum brakes, then yes.
@@tin2001 Yes, disc brakes are less susceptible to failure. Nonetheless it is still a good practice to perform to be on the safe side, just in case. Likewise after driving over mud on the road left by agricultural vehicles always test your brakes. Which is another practice I seldom see.
It's good getting the bow wave going, however what happens when a car going into the opposite direction also creating a bow wave those waves meet in the middle, is that water still going in the air intakes on both vehicles?
There seems to be a pattern on these flood videos, BMW's can not handle water!! especially Minis it seems. There have been a LOT of Minis hydro locked.

People just drive through water like it’s nothing then stuff happens and they’re surprised. Whatever speed you think you should drive through water go even slower and whatever depth you think your car can go through unless it’s purpose built, it’s probably less. Most cars’ wading depth is less than 10” basically if it gets to the engine at all, plus the extra splashing, it might not end well.
@GDBRescueandrecovery I remember it !! my little sister goes eddy's now lol n yea I'm good thank you hope you good n not getting into.to.much trouble.😂
Bonkers the way some people drive. The idiot that cut through the fuel station and darted out in front of the car that just drove through. He had to pull out he couldn't lose a space could he.
