Loved that you showed some low/no gain tones as well. Because of your demo, I can tell that this amp does more than just over-the-top overdrive. Great work sir.
Well, these are fettuccine levels of compressed, holy shit. Don't get me wrong, it surely sounds good... But for rock and metal. Anyway, why would someone buy a Gojira branded ampsim to record jazz or bossa nova?
@@aldo_pinheiro Yeah, if this plugin would cover EVERYTHING, Neural DSP has nothing to do in the future. So there have to be sounds which aren't perfect for specific types of music. And personally I like this concept where one specific sound is incredible good if you are searching for such a tone. But on the other hand I expected just a metal tone. Imo the other sounds are great too, although there are probably better sounding amp sims in other plugins when it comes to jazz etc.
@@aldo_pinheiro This plugin would easily second as a great blues setup as well from what I can tell by messing with it today. Prob the first thing I noticed about it. Something magical about the warmth of the crunches. Cant place it. The word "JUICEY" seems right. But yeah probably not for bossa nova...whatever that is. Some new kind of mumble rap I assume? jk
Expect this plugin on every record from now on. This, the Cory Wong model, and a Mastodon signature plugin (let's hope this happens soon) would be all I ever need. Great demo, sound and video production, BTW!
I don't expect/hope to hear this everywhere from now on! I think it's annoying enough that everyone uses the same drum samples nowadays and almost every band sounds the same now. It's amazing for small homestudios, but we wouldn't be here if bands like Gojira sat down with real amps, cabs and pedals to create their sound in the first place.
@@MilianMalivukMusic You're damn right about that! Just curious... what drum samples are you talking about? I have something in my mind, but I'm not that much into metal...
@@sonidojamon Everyone is using Get Good Drums and I tell within a few seconds. Absolutely no hate here, the samples are insanely good, but I don't need to hear them on every smaller record from now on.
@@MilianMalivukMusic Jackpot! I totally agree. Let's just hope other sampler/library makers take note and start making stuff up to that quality and ease of use leve. I usually blend or layer GGD drums with Addictive Drums 2 (harder to get great results, but an amazing sample library with Addictive Trigger) precisely, to achieve original and different sounds. The guys at Naughty Seal have been working in a Perfect Drums v2 version for a long time, can't wait to see what they come up with. Everybody uses GGD because they hit the jackpot with the interface/layout, and samples are very well recorded, and balanced/consistent in EQ and dynamics/volume balance when you switch between shell models/brands. I wish they just created a unique interface with all sample sets and elements, and offered more presets (AD2 has loaaaads to use as a starting point). That would make it easier for users to create their own original/personal setups. Despite of that, I think its just laziness. I can use GGD, and tweak it to my taste till it might not be recognisable, but that would mean a lot external multi-output processing in my DAW, as the GGD library interfaces are more "mix ready" oriented. Still, I just hope in a few months/years we can all say they just led the way, and thanks to them we have other great libraries from other companies to choose from.
i have just been trying this plugin for about a week now and I am absolutely blown. Will definitely make the purchase once my trial ends. Amazing plugin!!! This comes from someone who has been playing a Randall RD20 for a few years now
I had a ton of fun with the demo version of this the other day and the second I tried some of the Haken presents I hit the purchase button. Great video!
I have a zoom 9030 from the 90’s and have had a handful of units from digitech and line 6 over the years.. the current state of amp modeling today is mind blowing. Wish I was 17 again and just starting out.
So it's been out for a while and here's my take: toys are fun but the fundamental high gain rhythm tone is the most important part. It has issues with whistling and harsh frequencies in the 4k range (especially the honeycomb high gain amp) like a lot of plugins do (nameless in particular) forcing me to choose between grating and muddy/distant. Basically i eq out EVERYTHING in the 4khz area. Doesn't matter if i use built in cab or zilla/ownhammer. The granophyre's core sound is easier to work with, same with the mercuriall reaxis. Maybe there's something wrong with my signal chain, idk. I use a SSL2 with the legacy button off, and gain slightly below noon, never going into the red. Think i'll go back to a mix of granophyre and reaxis, and use plini and gojira for ambient sounds and leads.
I know everyone and their mom is playing this one right now but you're right: dear fucking God the tone coming out of that thing is sick. I've had stank face since downloading it yesterday. I just strung up a guitar in drop F# and that first chug on amp 3 just put a smile on my face, man.
Those strings are THICK. Almost bass strings. It does sound great. I use this plug-in too. Sounds so good. Don’t really need to EQ it separately if you dial it in within the plug-in itself.
By far the best sounding plugins I've heard so far are the Neural DSP plugins. There's still a quality in it that I've disliked in other plugins, though. I think it's just a part of the nature of amp plugins, but I can't quite place what it is. It's hard to explain, every plugin has this digital choppiness to it that my ears always latch onto. It's like a super fast slicer effect or like the signal has some static in it. I assume it has something to do with the sample rate or the buffer size, but even when increasing them it doesn't fully go away. For this plugin, it's still there, but it seems much harder to notice in the mix, so I think I've found the plugin for me!
The last time you used the clean channel on this vid sounded so muddy it was awful . But the rest of the vid sounded good, I've been looking into buying this programme you made me want one so much. Thanks also for bringing out content in this uncertain time, Take Care Bro.

hi,i have the Chapman ML3 Bea Baritone do you use the Gojira with Parallax or Darkglass for Chugging in Drop G ? Please help me ,your sound its Amazing , thanks!
I have this plug in, using a scarlett solo, in logic pro, ltd delux with active pickups and I can not for the life of me to get it to sound this clean. I have no idea what Im doing wrong. Every video I see with the gojira plug in sounds so good, and mine sounds like shit. Someone help!
Try LESS gain / backing off on the Master knob, or even backing off on the input knob. All these can add too much saturation, especially if you’re sending through a super hot signal from active pickups.
Great review! Can you please tell me - what will you prefer - Archetype Nolly or Gojira? Many people say that Nolly sound better in mix because of stronger middle tones, but as for me - Gojira sounds more heavier and there is shimmer!
Gojira is MUCH heavier, no question. Both plugins do different jobs for me. The Gojira is for the really heavy things, with octaver or with the shimmer reverb. I use the Nolly always for sparkly cleans and low gain stuff!
Hey dude are you doing anything with the signal chain? This sounds literally amazing here on your vid, but some others I've seen sound nowhere near this good. Any idea what that might be?
It's just the guitar straight into the interface and into Logic. Only thing I added to the signal chain is a limiter to remain in control of the loudness.
There needs to be an interface of some sort that converts the analog guitar signal into a digital one. They vary in sizes and forms, they can be very small (like the iRig plug for the iPads) so you might find something very small and portable!
I am really confused how this sounds so good without any eq-ing. Do you have any forms hpf or lpf in your daw while recording? If I play the Gojira in standalone mode the sound that's coming of my monitors is not even close. It's muddy, dark and shitty. My signal chain is guitar into motu m2 via asio into the Gojira standalone mode. 48khz and 128 bit buffer. I am truly surprised how good your tone is. I play an ibanez with emg btw
take in account that emgs compress yours guitar sound right off the bat. you might have to do a little more gainstaging to make sure you get the exact tone.
Hm I can throw pretty much any guitar through the plugin, adjust the input gain on the interface and it'll sound good right away, with little tweaks in gain to compensate pickup output differences and maybe some high-end. Have you tried replicating the tone in the video? Also: I pick damn hard with my right hand, a lot of the chugging comes from there too.
