Ktm said they fixed their cam issues. And yet the newer models continue to have problems... husky is likely to be no different. They really need to get it figured out. I'd be really interested in this bike if I knew the engine was solid.
@@Eugenesoe You are absolutely wrong about that: I know a lot of Triumph, Ducati and MotoGuzzi owners that have 100s of thousands of kilometres on their bikes and are still running fine. I myself had a 955 cc Triumph for 14 years and used it every day for any imaginable street use. And trust me... the plastics and the metallic parts on these European bikes, (if properly maintained of course) will outlast any Japanese equivalent.
That's sorted with a silent fix, even a new part number on the heads. It was a manufacturing process defect and not a true design defect. It was fixed once they figured it out. The drama was with the way they handled it in order to minimize the financial impact on the company. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a 2024 or beyond.
That yellow is striking (I think Husqvarna noticed how glorious the cosmic yellow Striple is and took note!) and I love the headlight but I totally agree about the dash. Kinda reminds me of how much I disliked the way the bad winners dash looks on the Vitpilen 701. It looks better than the Svartpilen 801 but still doesn't look as striking as the Vitpilen 701.
I looked at a Svartpilen 401 but bought a 21 Enfield Continental. Obviously very different but on my A2 so I had fewer choices. Love it. Chugs along beautifully and people talk to me about the bike complimenting me often on how nice a as job I’ve done restoring it, haha.
Looks amazing and I’m sure handles amazing too. I like the styling and the everyday usability of it. The question of the camshaft problem is just too big an issue to even contemplate buying one.
Well, if you are buying anything but Japanese, be prepared. That includes BMW. They had a huge recall on the last RT right after they shipped them, couldn't even buy one for a year. You want an Aprilia, Ducati, KTM, BMW? I say no problem. But when there is a problem that surfaces after warranty or you get a denied warranty claim, I don't think you should be too surprised.

They will add in the service manual “Replace camshaft every 5000 km, replace the bike at 15000km” We call the orange bikes the name “5month bike or 5000km bike” 😂😂😂

MB Agusta and Ducati monster have a similar headlight silhouette but it's certainly unique and tasteful. People are complaining about the made in china bit but ducati and mv are made in china as well!
The yellow reminded me of the 750 Hornet......🤔.....but definitely an interesting proposition in this mid-size class of naked bikes next yo said Hornet, between Trident & Streety 765, MT07 & MT09, KTM Duke 790, CFMoto 800, BMW F900R, Kawas Z650 & Z900. Looking forward to Spring or spots of good weather for testing.....
Weirdly with the 701s I would have gone for the Vitpilen, but now think I’d go for the Svartpilen. With the 701s I feel there was more differences between to two options (exhaust, semi clip-ones).

I am 100% with you on the matter of looks of this bike alone, and compared to Svartpilen and KTM's bikes. Although I don't know if such a big difference in price can be justified. Perhaps it can, if it doesn't have the reliability issues of the 790 KTM. Any reports on this matter?
I think the biggest question is what you are getting more over the KTM for $1300 US MSRP? Both *pilens don't make sense to me over KTM. Sure, it looks better and has a little bit better tech package, but for that price no quick shift other than as an option? Seems widely overpriced compared to a cheaper XSR900 that has an IMU and quick shifter blipper standard (and 20 more hp with just a little bit more weight.) Plus, you have a grenade proof motor in the CP3. I want to love Husky naked bikes, but can't.
It's not for everyone but something for someone a who wants to keep a nice statement piece bike in their living room! Someone who's a lil psycho (Me😂!)

The 701, indeed the 401, Vitpilens where far cleaner and more focused exercises in design...the new incarnations are begining to look a little flabby and at least from a strictly aesthetic position have come off the boil, a little like Ducatis current Monster line up. Theres also the niggling doubt re longevity given KTMs recent issues with their Cams so as a big fan of the purity of design that characterised MK1 versions (stayed very faithful to the prototype show bikes) I cant say I'm sold on these...
790 was actually the first of the lot. Husqvarna is but a styling excercise. Having 2-3 bikes with the same engine but different looks is actually good since most people will find something as per their own taste.
Question. Lots of camshaft comments. Have KTM genuinely not sorted it as they will have to shell out plenty in recalls. Or is it just comments about the previous versions of the 790 engine? KTM and CF Moto are giving 4 year warrantees if serviced by them so surely Urban and Myth spring to mind?
I am wondering when KTM is going to address the Cheese Cams they have been using in all of their parallel twins. I keep hoping to find some good news....
They don’t have cheese cams and never did have , some bikes have suffered oil starvation issues which caused damage to some cam lobes , the majority of bikes have been trouble free and there are many high mileage examples with over 50k and no issues . There is no doubt there has been an issue for whatever reason and I am sure after all the negative publicity it has been resolved on the latest bikes or models going forward - they have put 4 year warranty on all 24 models so customers should have a little peace of mind , if the problem does not show itself by the first valve service it’s unlikely to ever .
They only honor the 4 year warranty if every services is done at a KTM main dealer though. Where costs are huge and the mechanics might not care. My one man local independant mechanic is amazing, has to know a lot about bikes as he sess all brands from all ages, and he has to get it right as he cannot afford bad reviews. He even lets people sit in and watch if they want! He explains what he's dojng, why, how to check things... I'd trust him to give a KTM the best chance of being trouble free way more than I trust an undervalued main dealer mechanic in a company that doesn't seem to care about customer reviews.

All the 390+ bikes are made in china. All the 390 and under models are made in India. Breaking parts are made in China and rebadged as bybre or brembo. Suspension is developed in India and rebadged.

It even break down at 8000km after 2nd service, in my thoughts, most European bikes are best only under 1000km, after that u put it in the trash can.

camshafts are still made of plasticine and requires replacement after 5-10 kkm?

for the duke itself the icon has to be the Super Duke version, but if you want the "small" cc bike, I think Husky has the best design overall

Just wished it was as aggressive as the 2023 401 and came with clip ons along with spoke wheels. Also if it had the cage frame 🙌🏽 overall looks good.

Is it stabbing European workers in the back for profit, or is it a matter of going overseas to avoid going out of business? I think it's more of the latter than you might think. As far as cam wear, pretty sure that has been sorted.

It’s extremely disrespectful to accuse someone of not having any self respect. Especially someone who very obviously does. And on the issue of the camshafts-we all get it! They have a camshaft problem. And if he’s already acknowledged this publicly,what’s the point of bringing it up on every review? This isn’t even a review; it’s just a bit of news. And last of all,it’s just a motorcycle! How can anyone draw a line between someone reviewing a bike, and that person not having any self respect?!

They'll do it to get out of cam shaft warranty costs and then pop back up again like many of the old brands are.

@@ILCARCIOFOROSSOno it's not. Cus they're owned by a huge Indian conglomerate which is the 2nd largest 2 wheeler manufacturer in the world.
And it won't bankrupt them their highest selling model is the 390!
Everything above a 390 doesn't even make them a lot of money cus the development costs for the 1390/990/890/790 are so high.
