We need this troupe. “I hate everyone mainly because of my trauma so I feel incapable of being loved but then I meet you and I fall in love with you but the worlds ending” type of book 😩
I totally agree, I absolutely love friends to lovers stories. Sometimes I feel like the tension is much stronger between friends and I can't get enough of it.
If there's no tomorrow by Jennifer l. Armentrout (same author as the problem with forever) is incredible! It's like the definition of friends to lovers - definitely recommend!
Yesss thank you so much for these recs! I think it's so weird when people say that this trope lacks romantic/sexual tension. Like, have y'all ever seen two friends who clearly loved each other but were to shy to say it? The tension is so thick you could cut it with a knife lol
“We need to accept that we won’t always make the right decisions, that we’ll screw up royally sometimes - understanding that failure is not the opposite of success, it’s part of success.”some of us we see failing as failure. Have a delightful day sharing some positivity to your side
after watching this video the other day I immediately bought “love and other words” and boy... this is the most amazing book 🤯 it was so good written that I couldn’t stop crying even on the happy scenes, because I could literally feel everything macy was feeling.. just speechless. :’) can’t wait for another recommendations from you Steph ❤️
do you guys ever just randomly have these little comfort steph-day's where you just rewatch all of her video's even tho you've already seen them all? no? just me? ok.
Yess, whenever I tell people that my favourite trope is friends to lovers they are like “ew no, enemies to lovers is better!” But enemies to lovers is so overrated. Friends to lovers is superior!!!!
i get so frustrated with myself because im like im already reading like 6 books rn and now i want to read one of theseee ughh, who has this problem, i also procrastinate a lot too sooo...
I read "blurred lines" few weeks back and I think these recs will not be complete without this book. It has such amazing banter, so realistic, perfect ending.. ..I love this one✨❣️
thank you for recommending The problem with forever, i just finished reading it and i totally loved it. i could relate to Mallory in so many ways and i really felt this book. loved the outcome, such a beautiful way of seeing life and dealing with problems. thank you again!
I've always liked friends to lovers better than enemies to lovers cause its so adorable that they have this innocent platonic feelings and know each other the best and then one of them starts noticing little things and quirks he/she has and how they love it
I got this notif the very minute I finished People We Meet on Vacation and I’m NOT OKAY. I’ve never been a fan of friends to lovers but god this book was so good. I also found Poppy to be so frustratingly relatable and found myself holding back tears multiple times.
oh my gosh, finally found someone who also recommends The Problem with Forever! I LOVE this book so much!! Rider is so sweet and him and Mallory are so cute!!🥰
Catching up your videos! I hardly see anyone talk about Bright Side, and it's possibly my all time favorite book, because it has made me think about life differently. Kate is my fictional role model. I think "do epic" and "you are brave" a lot. Also loved The Problem With Forever. I've had a lot of these others on my tbr for a while! I'd also highly recommend Swear on This Life by Renee Carlino (one of my absolute favorites, story within a story and friends to lovers who reunite years later) and Up in the Treehouse by K.K. Allen (friends to one-sided enemies to lovers)!
Steph made me read Bright Side by Kim Holden, this literally broke my heart into a thousand pieces …. Definitely would recommend but be prepared to sob
I'm definitely reading that Christina Lauren book, I had no idea that was the story!! Aaaaa also I absolutely love The Problem With Forever and I've never seen anyone talking about it!
Also the Green Creek Series books 1 and 2 are childhood friends to lovers!! Super cute! There are 4 main books in this series and all of them have a main common fight/war going on in the background, while we are focusing on a different couple in each book!! Give the books a chance if you are a fan of T. J. Klune!! It is a must-read! Again the series is MM romances each story.
These book rec videos are saving my life right now!! Been working from home since March 2020 and with living alone, I'm bored out of my tree, books are my lifeline. So thanks 🤩
Thanks for the recommendations! I read Archer's Voice, and it's really really good ❤❤❤ Another one I recommend is Broken by Elizabeth Kelly. They start as friends, and by the middle of the book they become lovers. I didn't finish yet, but I'm enjoying so far.
I just wanted to thank step and mainly the sudden entry while editing. It made me laugh. I just had a bad evening and I didn't get the motivation to even do anything but the laughter made me hopeful. Thank you🥺💜
I like stories that are believable, I find myself deep into the relationship that it’s forming between the two characters If they have a solid ground to begin with, and that usually happens when the two starts as friends❤️ Maybe other tropes like enemies to lovers are more “dreamy”, feels like something out of an ordinary relationship, and people are drown to things they are unfamiliar with, plus, at the same time, the build up tension create great steamy scenes.
Naur but like you’re so brave for reading books that have real people on cover. I KNOW I wouldn’t even read the title of a book that has a black & white picture of a random white dude or a six-pack on the cover🤠
Hello! :) I recommend reading the Preston Brothers series (it's a spin off from More Than), and it's written by Jay McLean. I fell in love with the books (one of them is friends to lovers, one is enemies to lovers and one is friends but later enemies to lovers).
So there is this book called A Coal Miners Bride by Susan Campbell Bartoletti. And it’s technically a kids book but it doesn’t seem like it. It’s about a thirteen year old girl named Anetka who leaves her life in Poland to move to America and marry a coal miner. It takes place in 1896 and it’s in diary form so you get dates and her point of view. So she deals with her new life and finding her true love. I think you might like it Steph.
Another friend to lovers by Sarina Bowen is her short duology? Stand alones in the same universe, is the Goodbye Hello Series. #1: Goodbye Paradise & #2 Hello Forever. It is a MM romance, read triggers tho, and I just finished this and loved every bit!!!
Yes No Maybe So is low key a friends to lovers book, but this book is absolutely amazing. It’s the cutest book I’ve read this year. I love the characters and they face real life problems.
Recs: An Optimist's Guide to Heartbreak/A Pessimist's Guide to Love by Jennifer Hartmann Where the Mountains Meet the Sea by AR Breck (NOT technically a romance, but still so worth it)

ua-cam.com/video/E5NqwcwjGqY/v-deo.html
Ikr i legit have over 300 books on my tbr at this point.
Same! 🤣
We need this troupe. “I hate everyone mainly because of my trauma so I feel incapable of being loved but then I meet you and I fall in love with you but the worlds ending” type of book 😩
Will herondale approves this😂💔
Aiden Graves would fit this trope perfectly!
ok you just described my life
Probably... Ugly love

Another really good ‘friends to lovers’ is called ‘if he had been with me’ by Laura Nowlin.
