Praise be to our beloved Knaifu Xal'Atath. We will be together again on August 22nd. This was a really fun video to make, especially due to a certain segment ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). I was glad I was able to have some fun with it. Where do you think Paragon stands among the legendary guilds of WoW's golden era?
TORILLE! Usso taunttaa Perkele! Thank you for the great content Preach! I remember when the lich king Paragon kill was in the national 10pm TV news and I was so excited
Torille!!! HC Ragnaros kill during a heat wave and multiple thuder storms with people having connectivity issues due to power running out, never forget. What a time to be lurking Paragon’s IRC
I remember back in 2011 Paragon came to the (back then atleast) Biggest lan in Finland called Assembly, and they had their own booth where they were raiding and everyone could see first person their raiding and how they communicate etc. It was so cool to have been able to witness such thing, and to meet them at the same time. It was and still is a nice core memory from my youth as a WoW player
The bit about the vibe being the main glue of a guild is so true. Its what has been the binding factor of my guild. The guild I am playing in atm has been formed in vanilla, I joined midway in tbc. Joined as just a 14 year old dimwit and I am now the raid leader and 2nd in command of the guild. We have had so so many people come and go, during wotlk we were a somewhat well known guild on our server as the rookie trainers. New players join us, we teach em how to play and then they move on to bigger guilds. But after years they come back to raid with us on a few occasions. Just because their guild is taking a break, or they want a more laidback experience after years of more hardcore raiding. And they are always suprised how little has changed. Many familiar names, same relaxed attitude on voice. It always warms my heart to hear the positive response to our guild and my raid leading. Surely some might actually know us, Dragon World on EU-Silvermoon. The most hardcore casual guild! Raiding 3 days a week since at least tbc and barely ever skipping a raid evening! And still the best we can manage is about 3-5 mythic bosses per tier!
It is wild to see all this as someone who was playing during these times. You knew the names but not the actual people. All our little teams could never measure up but you cheered anyways. Times can never return to these days either. Thanks for the trip down nostalgia lane my friend.
Paragon's world first clear of Lich King 25 heroic will always live rent free in my head for just how epic it was and still is. I still go back to rewatch their clear of that fight at least once every couple of months.
Paragon were the very best like no-one ever was, up until the very end. Them outplaying a mechanic other world first guilds needed addons to solve was proof enough. No other guild has ever been as dominant as these two. Every victory they had was because of their better strategy, beter coordination and unmatched performance. They were the best and it was a long, long road until the next best guild.
By far my favorite guild in wow history I would go to their forums and ask their h pallys questions and tips and they were so nice and helpful. I really enjoyed rooting for them.
I vividly remember being in rehab and watching the Al Akir kill by Paragon. The hunter, Devai (something like that), did some stuff I didnt think was possible. He jumped of the platform to Dodge the lightning and used disengage to get back onto the platform. I was in awe. After i got out of rehad, I practiced it untill I could do it. After working my way up the guild ladder I got into raidleading and called that move the 'devai'. Also, incredible kills we used to shiit: "Paragon, were we come!". This lasted untill Castle Nathria. Thx for this video, and thx Paragon. They mean alot to me.
I remember seeing Paragon being interviewed on national TV news for their world first race win. It was like Finland had win hockey gold. Even adults who never gamed on anything were proud that Finns beat the world in something lol
Nostalgia. Back in the era before the race to world first was a streamed spectacle, we used to patiently refresh WoW progress to see if anyone snagged the first kill. Even though the top guilds today may be better in general terms, Paragon will always be the GOAT.
This was really interesting, especially as someone who first came to know Fraggo and Seita through their time in Overwatch and not WoW- I knew they had a background in it but not the sheer level and talent they had- awesome watch
This is one If the best videos ive ever seen. Paragon was such a force and the story stelling in this video displays just that! Awesome job Preach! Keep it up❤
Your "Legacy" videos are pure masterpieces. Even if the content of this one isn't all that interesting to me, I still thoroughly enjoyed watching it. The narrating, the production, the editing. Top notch content Mike!
meeting members of paragon Lazei and Ilonie, having dinner with them at blizzcon was some of my best memories. Lazei also participated in testing raids with my USA guild during cata beta.
I was a total noob in Lightning's Blade at the time. I played a Ret paladin. I remember their Ret Paladin, Kolori, took me to Scarlet Monastery and showed me the Ashbringer event. Still probably the greatest memory I have from the game. Not my cutting edges or other achievements. But my heroes of Paragon!
Full agree. Paragon was such a cool story to follow when it was happening. Even if you were pulling for method or blood legion, you couldn't help but respect how good they were
We all wish to be in that guild. Imagine like a bunch of friends or classmates from college all collectively decide together that they are going to be world first raiders. That is how legends are made. A bond as ironclad as an M1 Abrams all with a collective goal and passion to succeed. It's beautiful
I really miss this game sometimes. I started a few months before burning crusade launched, peaked during Wrath, and quit halfway through pandaland. I was never a top-tier raider, but there were some good times for sure.
Is this a sign? I recently had a digital job interview that if I get it will include a move to Finland. I have a good feeling about it and will most likely know within 2-3 days. I am to much of a baby to remember cataclysm world first raiding or even wod-raiding. For me, it all started in legion but I quickly got a feeling and enjoyed watch Yliajo playing. Old paragon raider that moved to Method and was part of Method until... the incident. I think he just quit after that. I still think of him from time to time. Thanks for a great legacy-video!
Paragon will always be my number one guild. Just the way they approached raiding was so cool: Archimonde in particular has always stuck out as so inventive.
Preach my friend, we need more videos of wow biggest GUILDS thruought its history. Every single server had its champions. And there are stories of them out there we need to hear.
Love this. The Finnish mindset from their culture truly is something else. The cool headed pragmatism I've learned from dad is truly unique to the Finns. And bitter sweetly, their reserved nature is also unique to them. What a time in mmo history that was :D
Having friends that play wow with whom to share the coolness of the game outside of it while hanging out in the real world is one of the greatest experiences many players do not get to have.
This should remind us about how hugely important competitive rivalries are to games. Pure and simple but push people to their limits and improve and extend to the product at hand. Fantastic stuff that one hardly sees anymore.
The Irony of it basically being Blizzard that killed them. The Deathwing world first was one of those things that was given to a guild who were worse because all the top guilds got punished. We've all seen that situation of old where if a way is found that is questionable, these guilds have to take it because if Blizzard don't punish the others you just loose, and Blizz' history is spotty af with that. That ruined the mindset of paragon because they weren't a "job" guild, they were just mates going raiding. All the way in WoD they lost the BRF race, but one loss while it sucks is something they took and carried on. Then fast forward to Archimonde and here's no doubt imo that no other guild came close to Paragons skill level and tactics. They were the best. But an addon ignored the difficulty and gifted Method a kill they didn't deserve. That entire event was and still is very controversial. But that was the final straw that broke what was left of the vibe that preach so rightly talks about.
Paragon is definitely the first guild I think of when I think of what performances have baffled me as a decent but not super hardcore raider over the years, since vanilla. I must've watched that Lich King kill video well over 100 times. Nihilum is probably the second, since they dominated early days as well. Usso taunta!
If i was blizz dev, id just congratulate them on clever strategies, its so cool to see. Its not an exploit or cheating if you find a legit and clever way to kill the boss. Especially if blizz themselves havent tought of it at all.

The ToC story was so familiar. In our first rekill we got there with no deaths. We were just making sure everyone remember certain specific areas. And a fricken mage fat fingered fireball and pulled the boss instantly getting killed. We were flawless on the follow up pull. We never pulled off immortality.
Hey PG Team, fantastic video as always! I was wondering if you guys would consider making Legacy videos about Elitist Jerks, Tankspot and Fatboss guides...
