This is a legit decent price for a well build computer. I loved my 2019 HP Omen, and it was my first pre-build after a while. It was also a gateway to getting back into the PC building again. Great video!
Yea, I think most of the thermal issues are the air cooled AMD builds (which would make sense). I personally would like it to be even cooler, but I haven't seen anything dangerously high like some people had reported with those builds. Nice thing is, if you want to upgrade the case in the future - that's a cheap upgrade. The real benefit of this build is the cost for the parts. I priced it out on pcpartpicker and found that I paid less for my build than I would have if I tried to build a comparable piecemeal system.

Good review, I just bought on of these the other day for Boing Day. $400 off. Specs are a i7-11700k, 16 GB DDR4 3200 Mhz HyperX RAM, 1 TB M.2 PCIe NVME SSD, and an RTX 3070. I wanted to build my own but the GPU market is crazy right now. Can't get any midrange GPU, and local computer shops for me have multiple month backorders. Only GPU's on the shelf are low-tier 1660's and insane RTX 3080's. Didn't want to wait months so yeah. So far so good. Wish they would have put some liquid cooler for the CPU, but apart from that I think HP made a good system here. Runs Witcher 3 at 1440p max settings no problems. Only occasionally some fans will kick in but then they go back down. In a few years time when PC parts become normalized would be willing to build my own again, one can hope :)
I have one of these and have had a similar experience. The only thing I would say is that if you do want to overclock it, you may want to invest in another fan for the AIO. The stock one works, but gets really loud. With a new fan, it's reasonably quiet and runs in the high 70's/low 80's at 4.9 all-core with the 10600k

Hey, I have a question. I want to get the i9-10900k and RTX 3090 model. Do I have to worry about overheating and bad airflow? These are the only things that make me hesitant about getting it. I know you can change the AIO but I don't really feal comfortable doing that as it will void the warranty and I don't really want to remove everything from the case to do that. I know you can add fans and that's basically all I want to do, do you think it will be enough? Will it last long with the stock components and no OC or messing with the BIOS?
with the i9 and a 3090, I would say this case isn't made for it. My review is specific to the i5 and 3070. If its your only way of getting those components, I'd switch cases and AIO. Otherwise, I'd buy a different system.
@@unthusiastreview4450 Yea I was thinking the same, thank you! I'll probably just find a good technician and ask him to help me with a custom build. It's probably worth the extra money to get a stable build.
There is a space for a second NVME SSD, and then there is space for at least 2 more (if not three) SATA SSDs - note this is only on the intel versions. The AMDs don't have the second NVME slot (last time I checked).
No and no. If you have fan noise, depending on the sound, it could be a dusty fan or it could be coil whine from your GPU. For crashing apps, that typically isn't a hardware issue unless something like memory or your GPU has corrupted way too early. I would look to driver update issues or shoddy software before blaming the hardware.

the peripherals comment makes a lot of sense, for now the solution would be to donate to a local charity that needs those supplies.
I thought it was single fan, but some people have said its multiple, so I am not sure. The temperatures are good though, so I don't really care either way.
I bought this pc to take the 3070 out and put it in my own case and thermals are kinda high in a closed case (80c easily) , but when I open the front panel and let the card breathe it has some of the best thermals I've seen in a gpu. it barely gets over 70c even with a +125 OC on the core.
Yea, I actually think HP did a great job designing this card. I have thought about switching cases, myself. I don't have bad thermals, but I would like a different look.
@@unthusiastreview4450 i'd say go for it, my case is bigger than the one HP provides, i couldnt imagine running this card in that small case for long periods of time.
At first they said id have it in 2 weeks. they updated this once to say it would be an additional 2-3 weeks. Then they delivered it a few days early. All in all, took me about a month.
came like that. If yours isnt lit up, try using the omen gaming center (or whatever that preinstalled app is called) to adjust your case's lighting settings.
Same issue/same machine. Called HP tech support (I had a network issue) and they recommend reinstalling Windows. This means a clean install (17 steps) since ALL data is wiped. Tech claimed it would lower the temps and it has; however the fans still scream loudly as the temps approach 70C. Reinstall also solves network problems.
It's an HP card. HP. Like EVGA, MSI, etc. makes their own cards. They use the reference card specs from Nvidia. Compare all 3070 variants here www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/hp-rtx-3070-oem.b8574 Basically, it's a standard card with the same specs as a founders edition. So it performs as well as any other 3070 that uses the same reference, which is to say its awesome.
@@unthusiastreview4450 so it's not a blower type. And does it comes with all the ports Hdmi... ?. The reason why I'm asking because I place an order and it should be here next month thanks. 👍
@@tomlees7477 As for the ports, I don't know the count right now, but there are HDMI and Display Ports. As for design, I think it is a blower type. I haven't looked at the bottom too much, but there is a plastic shield on the top that you can see in the video. Not sure if there is a plastic shield on the bottom too (but i THINK there is). Regardless, it runs well and relatively cool.
@@unthusiastreview4450 thanks for your reply . Yea I’ve seen some older models I think probably the first edition omens they had like the old style gpu fans/ blower thing where it’s much louder . But this one looks nice from this view . Congrats!
no idea why they use the k variant of the intel processors as the bios are locked and you can not overclock. all the omens run a bit toasty which could also be corrected with unlocked bios allowing you to adjust fan curve
This is false. Omens even come with software specifically allowing you to overclock and adjust your fan curves, and you can also use things like intel xtu or similar programs if you don't want to use the hp program.
@@thermoforger_6033 if you want "true overclocking" you likely aren't buying a pre-built omen 30L. The provided software is plenty for the vast majority of ppl.
@@thermoforger_6033 Ehh, your original point was that you cannot overclock, which is false. You can. You can get a stable 5.0 ghz OC, which is only 0.1 less than what Gamers Nexus was able to achieve on a custom rig. That said, I agree OCing on this machine is sort of pointless. The reason I got the 10600 is that it wont bottleneck my 3070 at 1440p, runs cooler than the other intel/amd chips you can get with the omen, and is an upgrade from my 4790k for work processing. If I had bought this PC with an i9 ir i7 or AMD, I would likely swap the motherboard and case now, rather than waiting like I intend to with the i5.
@@unthusiastreview4450 "fine" but the machine is marketed as a gaming pc. Does this mobo overclock to any degree? The review is pretty light on actual specifics. Also, no mention of the bios/firmware limitations for the hp oem gfx and mobo. These are valid concerns and criticisms.
@@arcadeslum5882 Yes, it does offer overclocking. However, overclocking is not a requirement for a "gaming" pc. It is a requirement for an "enthusiast" pc - which this is not marketed as. Anyone who wants 100% customization isn't going to get a pre-built. This type of BS is part of why I made this review - cause there are too many enthusiasts out there reviewing a non-enthusiast product, and judging it negatively based on things that only enthusiasts care about.
@@unthusiastreview4450 Since you are coming hard at me, I am forced to pull rank. Son, I've been building pc's since they had computer conventions in the early 90s. I beta tested broadband in the late 90s. My credentials are superior to yours. That said, Overclocking in todays world isnt enthusiast. Its a base feature that is built into most non oem mobos and especially anything that marketed as "gaming". I could build you an ultra sff htpc and slap a sff nvidia card in there and since it can play fortnite and gtav 60 frames at 1080p doesnt mean its a "gaming" pc. And since my opinion seems to matter to you so much, I actually have an Omen 30L 3090 on order atm. My criticism of your review is it lacks any in depth technical review of the platform. No burn in, real world fps, temp monitoring, NOTHING. Its a glorified infomercial opinion piece. I guess I will do my own review. Sit your ass down.
The motherboard is junk. The ram is junk. The PSU is junk. The CPU cooler is junk. The airflow is junk and if you have a 3080 or 3090 it's going to throttle. You're buying a cpu and a graphics card, and a 500gb nvme. If you're content with that then buy.

@@unthusiastreview4450 Yea I was thinking the same, thank you! I'll probably just find a good technician and ask him to help me with a custom build. It's probably worth the extra money to get a stable build.
Nice material, I would like to ask if there is a possibility to install a third drive in the 30L? Where is the space for it?
There is a space for a second NVME SSD, and then there is space for at least 2 more (if not three) SATA SSDs - note this is only on the intel versions. The AMDs don't have the second NVME slot (last time I checked).
looking at this and Ibuypower thanks for the insight
Hey bro I have this same computer does your fan make some noise after a while .. also did it sometimes crash some apps?
Hello this but with a ryzen processor vs acer Predator Orion 3000 with a I7 10 gen with 3070
Which would be better for thermals
Hey, does HP still cheap out on the graphics card and have a single blower fan on them? Thanks
I thought it was single fan, but some people have said its multiple, so I am not sure. The temperatures are good though, so I don't really care either way.
Great review! Mine is coming too, is there just one pcie slot, no extra pcie slot?
As far as I know, there are no extra PCIE slots available.
wanted to clarify, there is one extra slot for an m.2 drive, but there are no other pcie expansions beyond that.
@@unthusiastreview4450 ahh, thanks
@@unthusiastreview4450 did you get yours on time
How did you fit the 3070 in that case? I have the 30 L and i bought the rtx 3070 and it wont fit
It came with it and is a HP card, so they designed it to fit.
I'm working in HP and just got the 30L Omen computer
Took him with 3090 .
Because I don't do what I'm told.....SUBBED
Could you give me a link to this specific build, I can’t seem to find it for under 1700?
I had to customize the build myself and I got it with heavy discounts at the time
Best Buy has the 3060ti with a rayzen 7 for 1700. Got an open box for 200 less. My kids are having a field day
I bought this pc to take the 3070 out and put it in my own case and thermals are kinda high in a closed case (80c easily) , but when I open the front panel and let the card breathe it has some of the best thermals I've seen in a gpu. it barely gets over 70c even with a +125 OC on the core.

My Omen i7 10700 rtx 3070 came with cpu fan cooling. It always gets above 85C while gaming or rendering which is alarmingly high :(
The AIO is basically a requirement in this case, imo. I'd either install an aio, or upgrade the case.
Did you get your CPU on time according to the estimated ship date on HP's website or was there a long delay?
At first they said id have it in 2 weeks. they updated this once to say it would be an additional 2-3 weeks. Then they delivered it a few days early. All in all, took me about a month.
How did you turn on the light on the omen square inside?
came like that. If yours isnt lit up, try using the omen gaming center (or whatever that preinstalled app is called) to adjust your case's lighting settings.
Ok. Thanks. I'll check it out.
My 30l omen is i9-10850K.
It has serious overheat problem. 120mm one aio fan can't support i9-10850K cpu temperature.
@@toddthorne4482 70C is nothing to be concerned with depending on load and ambient temps
That'd why I got amd

How's the rtx 3070? What brand did the HP installed on your system.
It's an HP card. HP. Like EVGA, MSI, etc. makes their own cards. They use the reference card specs from Nvidia. Compare all 3070 variants here www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/hp-rtx-3070-oem.b8574
Basically, it's a standard card with the same specs as a founders edition.
Does the GPU also use AIO cooling?
No. It has a fan.

The RTX 3070 is from which Company? What says GPU-Z?
HP - they make their own cards based on the founders edition specs.
Is coil whine a problem with the GPU?
nope
Can someone tell me if mine will come with a liquid cooling? It has a ryzen 5 5600G and RTX 3060 with 16 GB ram and 1 TB SSD???
Likely not, unless you selected to upgrade the cooling to an AIO.
good review and good build, too bad they jacked up the prices :(
Airflow seems a bit small, kind of wanting to get 10900 and 3080.
If you got this build - I would swap out the case. 10900 and 3080 run hot anyway. This case is fine for my build, but I wouldn't for the i9s.
had a 2016 omen and now a 2020 30l. hp did me right
Do you think this is better then a 5800h cpu ?
5800h is a laptop CPU. They aren't really directly comparable, without taking the rest of the components and the use case into consideration.

@@unthusiastreview4450 But you ain't lying these things. Suck. ass. These peripherals drink truffle butter.
no idea why they use the k variant of the intel processors as the bios are locked and you can not overclock. all the omens run a bit toasty which could also be corrected with unlocked bios allowing you to adjust fan curve
This is false. Omens even come with software specifically allowing you to overclock and adjust your fan curves, and you can also use things like intel xtu or similar programs if you don't want to use the hp program.
@@Bulldog22031 for true overclocking you need to do so on the bios level which you can't do

Mobo is garbo, AIO is coolermaster.
The motherboard is perfectly fine. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it for the vast majority of people.
@@arcadeslum5882 do you have any idea how ridiculous you just sounded? lol
The CPU cooler is a coolermaster. The PSU is a platinum coolermaster. The ram is hyperx. You don't know what you're talking about.
