I'm not Muslim, but I think the hijab is very beautiful , decent , modest , and proper ; and Halima Haden is very beautiful inside and out , very intelligent, and a good example of grace , beauty , and humility.

She’s so beautiful and educated. The Somalian community is very kind, friendly, and generally welcoming as I remember with the friends I had made in Columbus Ohio’s Somalian community. Beautiful women inside and out. I’m happy for her and hope she keeps going.

Somalis are naturally beautiful and very proud people. They never forget their roots. It probably comes from their pastoralist culture and their rich poetry which values preservation of culture and clan dignity.

The hijab is in a sense the privatisation of a woman's physical appeal and sexuality. Her beauty can only be seen by a selected few in her circle of trust and her sexuality is exclusively for the man who has legally signed up to love, protect, nurture and support her emotionally, physically and financially. This man is also legally obliged to raise and support any offsprigs that rise frm the union and she is also guatanteed a portion oh inheritence frm his wealth.
This is very acceptable to me as opposed to be a commodity used by the society to satisfy its lust.
In Islam, women are precious individuals that are honoured and as such their honor must be sadeguarded at all cost.
Sadly, in western and secular societies, material things are prized above their own mother, wives and daughters. Their beauty and sexuality are used to sell products and make money off. It is essier to see , touch and 'ride' such women in those societies than it is too experience a ride in an expensive car or jewelleries as those are kept under lock and key and not available for all to see.

Its because the religious teaching of belief and faith. Every muslim who has faith in God, believe women showing their body and hair is a sinner when other men except her family see her without cover. while in every prayer women must cover their body and hair so that their prayer will accept by God. Just like how Sisters must cover their body and hair fully so that they can live in church and serve Jesus right.
This is the power we need to instill in our young girls. Hijab or no hijab, strength comes from the faith within and the noor of the most High.

Halima Aden is a revolutionary and a reformer. And she is changing the modeling industry.."the standard of beauty is your idea and not what somebody wants". And she has double standards. Muslim woman cannot be objectified. She will make a great lawyer or a teacher or an artist or a doctor. Hijab and Burkini and on modeling magazine doesn't make sense no matter what reasoning.

Hi Halima, I do understand what makes balance to adversities like the ones you experienced in the refugee camp. It's LOVE that makes balance to all adversities. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE was what I experienced when running a UN project on the front line in Pakrac, a small town divided between Croats and Serbs during the last war over there. I'll never forget that amazing loving energy being present everywhere and holding everyone, even in the air.
