I'm sorry the video wasn't helpful to you Jonathan. The part you need for AC relocation is in the description and it's fairly simple process. Thanks for watching!
Wow this was by far the best video on UA-cam on how to install one of these things. You are a Guru, thanks for all the help, you made it look so easy! I didn't catch your name in the video, but whatever it is, I really appreciate it =)
holy crap, I've been looking to have this done and have been told it's a lot of custom work creating a kit to relocate those climate controls. One place told me it's a whole day job, another one told me they'd need the car for 2 - 3 days for to move the climate controls.
You guys make it look so easy lol, I should have gone with the Dynavin unit on my e46. I decided to use a double din Pioneer with Android Auto, took me the better part of an entire weekend to modify the AC ducting and install the radio. Once the ducting cover was complete, it was a piece of cake to put it all back together, and there was just barely enough room to the right of the radio for all of the wiring and my parking brake bypass relay. Also, not sure how the Dynavin unit works, but if your e46 is anything like mine, the remote amp turn on wire has to be hooked up to the factory amp, otherwise you'll have no sound and you might go bald trying to figure out why the radio works but there's no sound playing... You might have mentioned it in the video, but I don't recall. Anyways, fantastic video, I've been looking into the BavSound upgrade for my speakers but I have some other issues that need to get solved before I spend that kind of money on sound quality.
Thanks a lot for the videos, I'm getting close to buying my first car which is a looking like a 2002 e46 and I'm actually looking forward to being able to do smaller wiring like this myself. Thank you!
Why so much work if you can place the gps receiver behind the instrument panel (speedometer, rev counter and so on), i get always 11 or 12 satellites if i check the amount of sartellites, with gps Essentials app for instance.
@jonsutubechannel Hi. yeah sorry it's really easy we just forgot. It's a direct fit on other cars and almost a direct fit on E46, but if you want it to be 100% factory you'll need a climate control trim piece available from the dealer. In this install we did not use the factory piece and it worked quit well. e46 is the only model that uses the OEM part and it's 51-16-7-001-408.
@JezGreenwood74 No worries Mate : ) Now your installation is perfect! My tailor in Hong Kong once told me, as I became anxious to spend so much on a single suit: "Money comes and goes but all that you keep is your strong heart"
love this video, except i watched the entire thing to see how you did the hvac relocate, and you completely edited it out. aaaaarrrrrrrrrggggggg!!!! other than that, great vid.
Final result got very very good.. nice new radio/gps.. gotta find such solution for my e87 series.. too bad it has already a folding screen also some ac controls in the region the 46 only has the radio..
@Dgoldentr3 It's almost a direct fit, but if you want it to be 100% factory you'll need a climate control trim piece available from the dealer. In this install we did not use the factory piece and it worked quit well. But we'll post the numbers on that asap.
thanks for video. I am planning on doing this by myself. Any guide or video on relocating AC controls? actually video gives you confidence and I am not sure if I will be able to relocate controls without any guidance. thanks in advance.
Sorry this is the only video we have on this procedure, but I wouldn't be too worried about it. Everything is just plugs and wires once you get the controls loose. Good luck!
Nevermind on the last question, description contained my answer, however I am very curious on how you created the USB/AUX spec dock in that little tray area..
I'm sorry the video wasn't helpful to you Alex. The part you need for AC relocation is in the description and it's a fairly simple process. Thanks for watching!
Great video! One question. Do you need to have that wire plugged in for the video to be viewed while in park? or can you just not plug it in and it'll work while driving? Thanks!
I would have routed and plugged in the iPod cable as well. Maybe the owner of the vehicle will get an iPod or iPhone in the future. Would be a chore to have to go back and do a lot of the work all over again just because you weren't thinking ahead. :)
Will this unit affect the Harmon Kardon sound system? I just have the business CD player radio and HK system no nav. but I do not want to lose sound quality. thank you.
I have the same stereo, for the gps antenna they decided to use a magnet instead of adhesive. if you take the sticker off the back its right there. I glued the magnet to the windshield so you can remove the antenna at will.
@bavsound I don't want to find out what piece "I Need," I am curious as to what piece you used...From the description it appears you either made a custom piece or retrofitted the part already on the car, that's what I'm curious about, thank you.
I have the exact same unit as the one you installed in the video and works great, except for the fact that the audio to my radio and bluetooth won't play accurately. It works at some times but not 100%, it plays and then fades out and then just no audio at all. The CD and navigation sound works so I am not entirely sure what is wrong with it. I think that it might be a grounding problem but I am no technician. The company I bought it from Vigo electronics, has no idea either. Please advice!
Very helpful video, but my local BMW part guy tells me the HVAC trim piece part number you mentioned is for NOT for cars with the smoker's package, which I've been told was standard in U.S. import e46's. He says the OEM part needed is 51-16-7-001-410 (not -408). Can you confirm that?
For the relocation of the climate controls, do i need to buy a "HVAC relocation kit"? I doubt that I would but I just want to be sure, any feed back is appreciated!
If i were to install a head unit and purchase subwoofers at a later date, I would need to take everything back out again to hook up the speakers right?
I have a head unit like this in my 2003 BMW 330 but I want to upgrade it since its the one that came with the car. I was wanting to buy the Pioneer AVH-P3400BH. I was just wondering if that head unit will fit. I'm guessing since the AC unit is already where it needs to be it would just make the install simpilar. Would all I have to do is pull out the head unit in there now and put the new one in?
are the glass holder container and the climate control interchangeable? Can I swap location from climate control to be lower and put the compartment that is empty where the temp controls go?
In regards to the bluetooth mic, if my car already has bluetooth handsfree quipped and the mic is in the roof of the car, do i still need the aftermarket mic?
I've been watching your videos on the 3 series and now I want this. However, I'm a bit confused on where I would hide the mic on a convertible. The windshield is out of the question. Also, the gps antenna is an eye sore IMO. I wonder where the factory hides them ( in a convertible)
for the connections underneath the center armrest- how do you get the usb and aux input to stay in place without being pushed down when you try to connect to it?
Hi there, I ordered a wireless rearview camera from e-bay which comes with both a reciever and transmitter. The transmitter i can give power by hooking it up to the backup lights, however for the reciever which goes behind the radio, what would be the best place to get the power from? At first i thought about the cigarette lighter, but that is a constand power supply which will drain the battery, so that is a no go. Which wire would you advice me? Is it possible to connect it to the amp wire?
Great video, this was a big help as I put in an Eonon head unit today. One problem. I can't seem to get the climate control to insert into the old accessory pocket all the way. I push and push and it won't snap in. There doesn't appear to be any obstructions. Any suggestions?
How do you relocate the a/c & heating control panel into the compartment slot please? Im thinking there's a housing bracket that the unit fits into or does it just slot straight in there? I will be getting my e46 convertible in 8 weeks and will be getting the eonon d5150 head unit to fit into it, I think your 2 videos are brilliant and covers every aspect of the fitting procedure apart from fitting the a/c & heating unit....hopefully it will just be a 'plug n slot in' job.
Extremely well put together and generous tutorial! Do you sell this unit, and if so is it compatible with my UK car? Thank you friend, your video was very, very well put together! Mark in the UK
The 2005 BMW 325Ci convertible stick has a Din2 with GPS is not the same as shown. Will this or which newer radio with GPS, WiFI, DVD will fit without modification?
So let me make sure I've got this correct... I don't HAVE to buy that expensive trim piece to move the AC controls down? I'm more than happy to hack around with my dremel if its doable... Also, GREAT video, thanks!
Hello, Was wondering if you can help me decide what kind of 5 1/4 size componet speaker should I install in the front doors. I have stock and they are raddling so I have to replace them. Can you help.
awesome tutorial. planning on buying an m3 and a double din unit, so this will be useful. so the hvac controls fit right in on that bottom slot? no need for any bezels or anything?

You left out the only part every one wanted to see. That was the only reason i watched BOTH videos to see you move the ac controls
I'm sorry the video wasn't helpful to you Jonathan. The part you need for AC relocation is in the description and it's fairly simple process. Thanks for watching!
BAVSOUND what's the name of this system
Indeed, stupid video.
Exactly, that’s the only reason most of us watched this. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ He even said he would show it.
i love this guy he know wat he is doin and knows his cars and how to do them ! sweet vid man

Thanks for watching and the kind words! Good luck for the upgrade!
i like this guy's sense of humour

It's very easy. I did it. you need a plastic bit from a dual-din equipped car (such as a sat nav one), but it realy is simple.
You guys make it look so easy lol, I should have gone with the Dynavin unit on my e46. Thanks! you guts help me a lot installing a completely different head unit. Cheers
Thanks a lot for the videos, I'm getting close to buying my first car which is a looking like a 2002 e46 and I'm actually looking forward to being able to do smaller wiring like this myself. Thank you!
This video was very helpful but you guys should start doing the testing for the products to see how everything works
We do -- but this isn't a product we sell. :)
Could you please show how did u put the USB and Aux option near the glove box?
Correct. It's nice but not totally necessary. Glad you enjoyed! : )
great setup
just bought a e46 and will be installing android
Excellent tutorial, thanks, gives me confidence to tackle the job myself! :)

And me! 😆
VERY!!! INFORMATIVE AND HELPFUL VIDEOS. GREAT VIDEO. THANK YOU!!
you saved me about 400$ thank you for the video.
i LOVE the way E46 looks. In all ways! Super sexy!
I think what would be very helpful is instructions on the USB/AUX setup you had next to the cup holders. That is very convenient.
Great video!
Great videos man.. A real help... The guy in the video looks too much like Lars ulrich
Final result got very very good.. nice new radio/gps.. gotta find such solution for my e87 series.. too bad it has already a folding screen also some ac controls in the region the 46 only has the radio..
Glad we could help, thanks a lot : )
outstanding, great video

Come on .... Everything was so obvious and AC relocation is the entire point but not covered :(
I'm sorry the video wasn't helpful to you Alex. The part you need for AC relocation is in the description and it's a fairly simple process. Thanks for watching!
BAVSOUND Can you create a video for this process AC?
My climate control is having trouble fitting in lower slot. Please help
Thank you for your videos
Yes, but I want to know how to get the klimacontrol fixed! Have You used any extra parts?
man that was awesome
hello I have a bmw e46 m43...I was wondering if I can fit non bmw e46 monitor....the regular shape of a rectangle monitor...thank you
Great video! One question. Do you need to have that wire plugged in for the video to be viewed while in park? or can you just not plug it in and it'll work while driving? Thanks!

You guys didn't film the relocation of the AC? What do I need to buy? or does it just fit directly? I'm confused. Thank you! Great video by the way!!
I have the same stereo, for the gps antenna they decided to use a magnet instead of adhesive. if you take the sticker off the back its right there. I glued the magnet to the windshield so you can remove the antenna at will.
Great video, but I have a problem, the cords that came with the radio i bought doesn't fit the cables inside the bmw
For the AC control relocation, was it a perfect fit into the new location? How did you secure it?
@bavsound I don't want to find out what piece "I Need," I am curious as to what piece you used...From the description it appears you either made a custom piece or retrofitted the part already on the car, that's what I'm curious about, thank you.
yeah very informative, gonna do mine very soon,

great video. Does Dynavin work w/ E46's w/ the stock navigation (2005)?
Very very nice job
Nice video cheers! Helped me instal a dash mount radio antenna

another question....the climate control box...do you have to buy a kit to fit the unit
back into the bottom case
For the relocation of the climate controls, do i need to buy a "HVAC relocation kit"? I doubt that I would but I just want to be sure, any feed back is appreciated!
Fantastic video
How is this unit anyway?
Thinking of buying it
Thx
Thanks for the info!
If i were to install a head unit and purchase subwoofers at a later date, I would need to take everything back out again to hook up the speakers right?
@TaadBaagoLua Ah yes, we forgot to demonstrate the incantation for removing trim panels with only your eyes . . . ; )
Thanks for share..!
It helped me...

on the AC unit did you have to like cut metal? do you have a test video on how it sounds
Was the climate control swap to the bottom straight forward?
I've been watching your videos on the 3 series and now I want this. However, I'm a bit confused on where I would hide the mic on a convertible. The windshield is out of the question.
Also, the gps antenna is an eye sore IMO. I wonder where the factory hides them ( in a convertible)
Is there a mount that is needed when moving the heat exchange unit or will it just pop into spot.
hello very nice tutotial! Where can I buy the USB/Aux to be installed on the center console?
for the connections underneath the center armrest- how do you get the usb and aux input to stay in place without being pushed down when you try to connect to it?

That's why it's easier with the BMW or www.jandtdistributing.com/ HVAC relocation bracket
Hey very nice video. How do you connect the aux input? i tried plugging in aux audio input but headphone jack does not work. Help please???
amazing
I don‘t have a Cinch Output on the backside of the radio ,so I can‘t plug in the subwoofer cables.
How did you do it?
Nice Vid, You the best thanks!!!
How can I run a power cable from the battery to the rear and hide it to make it look nice? I have the battery in the front.

Check the "about" description above by clicking "show more"
What piece did you use if you Didn't use the factory piece for the HVAC relocation?
@RadomWay Thanks : ) It's Coby C - "Destination Excellence" available at Bandcamp dot com!
Extremely well put together and generous tutorial! Do you sell this unit, and if so is it compatible with my UK car?
Thank you friend, your video was very, very well put together!
Mark in the UK
Is the a/c control suppose to snap into place, into the new relocation kit?? cause mine doesn't
The 2005 BMW 325Ci convertible stick has a Din2 with GPS is not the same as shown.
Will this or which newer radio with GPS, WiFI, DVD will fit without modification?
does the DSP from the stock unit still work with this replacement?
So let me make sure I've got this correct... I don't HAVE to buy that expensive trim piece to move the AC controls down?
I'm more than happy to hack around with my dremel if its doable... Also, GREAT video, thanks!
Is this the system that I've read about that will also display the on board computer display with oil and water temperature functions?
can I put any 8in double din with kit on my 2005 325i BMW please reply as soon as possible thanks....
how to you get to display the same screen to the headrest monitors...( only the dvd can be seen)
those ac vents look dated, is it a way to change that to to something more modern?
Hey, a quick question here. If I purchase a navi from a BMW that already had it installed, does that one fit into my bmw with business cd ? :)
Thanks. Please check the description for more info.
BAVSOUND is this unit compatible with an e46 without the premium sound option, aka stock regular speakers . ? My install guy told me to ask lol
can anybody give me a link - "how he made USB-input and AUX-input under the armrest", please
Сергей Ромм looked like extensions stuck in poorly cut holes.
E46 3 Series don't have have DSP, so no worries!
Do you got the video how to relocate the temp control, or can you tell me how to do it do I need any parts to make it work ?
