Kinda bummed out that the game isn't gonna be deep but you get what you get for a jam game. Hopefully this will be a good testing ground for you to get familiar with making games and persue more ambitious projects in the future.
Yeah, tis a shame, but at least the jam is as long as it is. Honestly, the game is very much akin to the ENA video series in complexity. Well, as long as you ignore the factor of lore. The video series really just shows ENA walking around, talking to characters, and maybe collecting a thing or two. Our game is about the same level as that, with a bit more interactivity, considering games are meant to be played. Anyways, game should release by the end of this month. I'll make an announcement in my Discord server when it drops. There's also leaks in there for you to check out: discord.com/invite/ehcr46vG5X I'm excited for this project, and I hope you stick around for the "more ambitious projects" you mentioned! :D
gonna install it right now since I see it's out. I've barely begun watching the video but I want to jump into it without knowing what I'm gonna find. Okay I played it. I can clearly see the ENA inspirations but it was not what I expected. Nice and funny little game.
Lol. There wasn't much to be spoiled. Just the fact that there was a mall, but it makes sense that you wouldn't want spoilers. I hope you enjoyed this short lil project, and thank you for checking it out!
I have this delusional idea, but if you like the Undertale / Deltarune type of music I may be able to make some for these games..? I may even try and dive into weirdcore music kinda like what is in the ENA series..? Anyway though, good luck on you dev journey! :O
The game is out actually! Trailer and link on the channel. Hope you enjoy! And yes, I used that picture from the BBQ trailer. Figured it would serve well as a simplistic thumbnail.
Wait I just re-read your comment. You said wallpaper, not thumbnail lol. The wallpaper I used, I found on Wallpaper Engine. If you have that, I can link you to the workshop page. I don't typically use an animated wallpaper, but I thought it would look real nice in the background, especially with where I decided to put the mapping tool icon. The ENA trailer is so dope in my opinion. Sends me wonderful chills throughout my body every time I watch it.
i loveee!!!!! this!!!!! i cant wait to play the game!! at this point i`ll take anything ena related, we've been starved for so long! love the map and the mic is fine btw
Glad you think so! The game drops soon, so if you wanna get notified when it does, you can join the Discord. There is also a #leaks channel in there: discord.gg/ehcr46vG5X
You want help? literally just had the motivation to make Ena a boss in a souls like demo. Just finished the Ena model. Have to tweak it a bit and then rig it before animating but let me know what's up.
@@SharkFinFace I've never been one for marketing myself on social media but now since I'm getting into the animation and game development field I'm going to start marketing myself and my work. Soon I'll have the youtube channel set up and some of my projects. got a couple mods in xenoverse 2 as well. but yea. Currently no one knows I exist lol I'll keep you posted. The souls-like is very much in the early concept stages and right now I'm just working on Ena's model. I'll start recording work to post :3

TrenchBroom. It's supposed to be used for making makes for Quake (the game Half-Life 1 was built on), but some people managed to make a workflow for Godot, being Qodot. I do remember having issues setting up Qodot with the version of TrenchBroom I had at the time (I think an update broke all old game configs), so I used 2023.1 throughout the development of the game. Though this did have the annoying bug of the undo button not working until the program restarted, so you may wanna try older versions. I'll be using this question for the Q&A if you don't mind :)
@@SharkFinFace Oh yeah, I don’t mind at all !! Also I wonder, how’d you make the textures ? Like water texture, train texture, etc Cause I’m wanting to make my own ENA series and I’m trying to get as many tips & tricks I can
A lot of the textures were taken from OpenGameArt.org. There's tons of free assets on there. Often, I would heavily modify the assets I found there, such as downscaling them, changing the color, brightening them, etc. Almost all the assets I downloaded for Limbless are modified in some way, whether that be the grass being darkened, or bricks being made blue. Few went unchanged. Of course, I did make assets of my own, such as the train windows, which were actually dithered and downscaled TV screens. A lot of the simple textures, such as the blue seats in the train, were just done in Piskel, a very nice pixel art tool that works in a browser, but can also be downloaded for offline use. One of the assets I'm really proud of is the toxic waste, which I actually made using a picture of beans I found online lol. If you want any links to the sources of any of the specific textures, lemme know!
Sorry for late reply. Been working on Devlog #2. If you don't mind, I'm gonna copy over my reply to YaBoiAlex_: "TrenchBroom. Oh man, can't believe I forgot to add it. It's called "Don't Preheat Your Oven Because If You Do The Song Won't Play" from Pizza Tower. Yeah... long name.

Godot! Godot 3 to be specific. There were two main reasons why I chose Godot 3 over 4. First was because the map importer for Godot 4 required C#, which was unnecessary, since I wasn't going to code any C#. Second is because Godot 3 allowed GLSL2 rendering mode, which would allow the game to (hopefully) run better on older computers, whereas the minimum renderer for Godot 4 was GLSL3, which still runs fast, but since the game isn't very graphically advanced, I just didn't need it. Picking Godot 3 or 4 depends on your experience and the project you are making. For example, my next Godot project, I plan to make easily moddable. If I want easy file loading, I will want Godot 4, since it has runtime file loading and saving, which Godot 3 lacks. If you want a recommendation, lemme know what you're planning, though it is commonly recommended to use Godot 4, since it is *generally* superior in most aspects. Also, take my recommendations with a grain of salt. I myself am very new to Godot. Btw, I released the game! Trailer and link on the channel. The game is also open source, which means all the code is public! You can find the GitHub on the download page.
