Don't *overuse* rice water on your hair however, especially if you tend to have a hair type prone to drying out. It technically at the base of its ingredients is starch, citric acid and any added essential oils. This could further dry out your hair, while also causing buildup or irritation if you're sensitive to essential oils or even things that are acidic in nature. Be sure to conduct further research into your specific hair type and what's most beneficial for its health. Too much of anything has potential to become a bad thing.

No you’re supposed to wash off the rice until the water is clear then you’re supposed to put the rice with some fresh water in the mason jar put some orange peels in there and let it ferment for a week this is how you make rice water the correct way or another alternative is you can actually go ahead and cook the rice and then right before the water starts boiling out you would catch some of the water and you could also use it that way.
Kayley Melissa has a whole video (maybe 2?) about the history, science, and how-to for this! Highly recommend checking it out for anyone who is curious!
No rice or oils or anything else you put on your hair/scalp will make your hair grow faster. The speed at which your hair grows is determined by your overall health, biology and your genetics. If you use something and notice a difference its most likely because it’s moisturizing your hair and reducing breakage. A change in your diet could also increase hair growth but that’s only if you were lacking in vitamins before. It’s science.
Actually rice and oils help with hair health. Funny how you are using the same talking points as black UA-camrs about hair growth. Genetics don’t have anything to do with hair growth just hair pattern
Massage your scalp with organic cold pressed castor oil before every hair wash. If you wash your hair everyday( try to wash it less, even every other day is ok, but if you can just wash your hair 1-2 times a week that will help) then just do this 2 times a week. Brush your hair very well to get the natural oils dispersed throughout your hair and start the stimulation of the scalp. Add your castor oil to your scalp and start massaging it into the scalp. Turn your head upside down and continue for 10 minutes. Raise your head back up and massage all over for another 5 to 10 minutes. Distribute what's left on your hands and hair down the rest of your length. Add your favorite natural cold pressed hair oil to your ends and add a shower cap and bonnet or hair scarf. Wait anywhere from 1 hr - overnight, then wash your hair twice as usual, Cleanse the scalp very well. Follow with your conditioner and hair mask, while avoiding your scalp and first few inches of hair. Let it do it's thing while you finsh up showering. Then rinse with cool water. Oiling, massage, not washing hair every day, [daily brushing to stimulate scalp:distribute the natural oils:remove any pollutants from the day], and shampooing with scalp focus, conditioning with hair focus. This will all keep your hair thick or help it to regain thickness and length. Hair Skin Nails vitamins are good. A daily multivitamin Biotin and silica can also be good for not only hair, but nails & skin. Hydrate with water

It just rice starch. Doesn’t matter how much water you put in, you can actually use a lot more than that as it’s still rice starch. Why people always trying to make things sound fancy, just call it what it is… rice starch 🤷🏼♀️. Edit…. Also rice starch and potatoes starch is not only good for humans but it’s also amazing for helping your plants grow. Now I know there’s a lot of people that never listen and will argue with me that I’m wrong. So to this I say that if you don’t believe me then just Google it. And Google will explain how good rice/potatoes starch is for plants/flowers.
@@palestar828 Hi, just gonna be annoying for a sec;;; Wasting food (or, y'know, stuff in general) is a really really bad idea, I believe... If you don't like eating rice, I mean, you can maybe find another way to use it? Like, maybe as a phone emergency kit once it dries out, or you can stuff a plushie with it, or you can make some sort of craft, or maybe a noisemaker, idk... Just, do whatever, as long as you're not exactly putting it to waste;;; ALSO, if you want to cook it, first off, while I don't know much about this, I'm pretty sure that you have to add the water back, so it has enough for cooking, at least. Just assuming from what little I know; I mean, ramen is disgustingly dry without enough water, so anything else boiled might work the same, right? Probably not. But, moving on lol. There's so many different recipes! You don't have to just force white rice down your throat! If you add a lot to the rice, you can maybe make yellow rice for tacos, or you can add some stuff to make sushi... (for sushi, you will need other specific materials though! Also, it does get kind of tedious;;; but, just a few rolls can fill you up! Compacting food just gets so surprising to me...) probably more stuff I can't think of. Hell, if you just wanna throw some random stuff together, you can toss it in as an extra ingredient in a stew or stir fry or whatever else is made out of laziness lol.
It really is wonderful but if you have very kinky curly hair make sure that you deep condition every time when using this because this is very high in proteins.
Hey you should rinse rice a few times before taking out the rice water because they spray a lot of pesticides and fertilizers during production. I don't think it's good at all if you use rice water without washing it a few times. Even then I doubt we not being affected. I don't know about other countries but my country surely uses lots of pesticides and fertilizers.
I tired this a long time ago but no citrus and no boiling. I just fermented it for two day let sit in my hair for 1hr i put my hair up in a shower cap also while sitting for the 1hr. It worked for me
I don’t follow her instructions but I do rice water in my hair for 4 years. I don’t usually do short hair before because my hair just wave or fly away look (I don’t know hiw to translate it into english) and it causes my split ends up but when I start rice water, I can now totally rock the short hair look cause it makes my hair healthier and it prevents me from split ends. I still have the slightly some curly hair but the important thing is I don’t get split ends anymore. All I do is wash the rice I’m about to eat and remove those water that you use to clean the rice and you can store it in the fridge for the last rinse after you conditioner or just use it right away if you don’t want cold rice water. I use it everyday before, but you can use it whenever you’ll eat rice so the rice wouldn’t go to trash
Some things that actually helped to control my hair fall include: (1) I discontinued wearing ponytails because it leds to tension breakage. (2) I began massaging my scalp twice a week with liitleextra cocoonnion hair oil while leaning forward & holding my head upside down to allow blood flow to the scalp. (3) Protecting my head while moving out to shield my hair from dust and pollution. (4) Using mild shampoo again from liittleextra only to cleanse my hair.
Essential oils work just as well. I mix fresh herbs when I can or oils when I don't. Mix them with avocado oil as a carrier. Put on at night for a few days. Keep it in the fridge. It's good for a week when using fresh herbs. Longer if using essential oils.
I do mine differently! I get rice and cover with water. I smoosh it around with my fingers to stir if you will, and cover with plastic wrap. I leave in a warm room and after 2 days its fermented!! I seperate the rice from the water Throw out rice and keep water. It can be stored in the fridge for up to a week. I wash my hair with shampoo and rinse. Then i soak my scalp in the bowel with the warmed up fermented rice water and I massage my scalp over the large bowel or container so i don’t waste any of the rice water for 5/10 minutes. I leave the rice water on my scalp, i don’t wash it off at all!! This process helped me to grow my hair over 4 inches in just a few weeks!! I was amazed 😮 Now a few years on, im going to start this process again because I have hair thinning 😢 and im a woman . Will help with hair loss!! Im confident of this!! When I was doing this for length, i noticed new hair growth also!! So im confident that it will help my hair to thicken out again!!
I don't know if it was the "rice water" that was claimed or if it was chemicals, but I used a spray on my long curly hair that was feeling a little dry, and the spray ruined it. My hair stuck together like glue and turned into knots, I had to cut all of my hair off.
Hey Dr I follow the skin care routine you suggested earlier on your channel and it has worked like miracle for me , can you please provide a hair care routine as well with products easily available in other countries under budget. Love from India 🇮🇳
This depends on the hair type but generally rosemary water does the same thing. Also, using rice water too often can cause protein overload on your hair which can damage your hair very badly. I just make some rosemary water by adding water and some sprigs of rosemary (you can also add ginger) to a pot and boil for about 20 min or until the water changes colour. Put this in a spray bottle and pray on your scalp every day. Massage it into your scalp and then just let it dry. You don't wash it out or anything after and it doesn't leave any scent. This works really well for me. Do your research guys!
This is actually one of the things thay helps prevent hair fall as well. There is a lot of B vitamins in rice which helps to strengthen the hair follicle amd prevent falling
Just massage oil into your hair every Friday sleep with it on overnight and clean it out on Saturday massaging your hair properly while shampooing it's good for hair growth and strength
You aren't supposed to heat it as it kills the good stuff that's good for your hair. You ferment the water with the citrus peels for about 3 days to a week I don't make this very often anymore because I found a protein treatment that's amazing . But I wash the rice, I blend it in water , leave to ferment with the peels for 3 days.
This makes your hair healthier.. if you want to grow your hair a slightly faster try massaging your scalp and shower with cold or maybe luke warm water
it does not make your hair grow ... it prevents breaking which makes the hair stronger and healthier which improves the hair from things like dye , heat etc
I don’t boil mine but I do rinse it well and all rosemary and orange. I ferment mine on the counter top 2-3 days on the summer and about 5 days in the winter
Probably is bad but I just use the rice water plain. Like no boil, I just pour it directly on my hair before washing or leave it in my shampoo. This is not cap, it works, I've been doing this since I was 17. I'm 24 now, this helps your hair grow super fast (idk about thickening though). You will see it within the week
There is a better recipe and more precise instructions for this water on Peppy's blog! One more ingredient and you can eliminate store bought shampoo if you like 😊
I don’t get it, do you wash and rince the rice for 10 mins or do you keep the same water and just massage the rice for 10 mins? Cause after 5 rinces that rice water is gonna be real clear and it takes about a minute or 2 tops

I definitely agree with you, Tasheana. 👍
Kayley Melissa has a whole video (maybe 2?) about the history, science, and how-to for this! Highly recommend checking it out for anyone who is curious!
Thank youuuu! I'll definitely check out the videos😊
It's not for hair growth. It's for hair health.
@@delishme2 Well the person in the tiktok said for hair growth so…
Actually rice and oils help with hair health. Funny how you are using the same talking points as black UA-camrs about hair growth. Genetics don’t have anything to do with hair growth just hair pattern
Please make a video with other ways to thicken hair!
A daily multivitamin
Biotin and silica can also be good for not only hair, but nails & skin.
Hydrate with water
Many essential oils are antimicrobials, especially tea tree oil, so the rice water will never ferment.
Thanks for sharing this tip.
But how do you use it?? Before shampoo? After shampoo? Soak? Or rinse?
I spray it in my dry hair , leave it for 45 minutes then shampoo and condition as normal . I don’t cook it , I take 1 cup of rice to 1 cup of water And let it soak for 2 days then put the rice water in a spray bottle .
@@heatherwarner2603 thank you hun! I have terrible hair loss xxx😊
Fermented rice water actually has natural saponins. So I’ve always mixed it with my shampoo.
This is literally liquid gold and I swear by it my hair has never been better from using this!!!!!❤
What kind of rice do you use? How often do you use it? Girl I need your help lol.
How often do u use it ?
It just rice starch. Doesn’t matter how much water you put in, you can actually use a lot more than that as it’s still rice starch. Why people always trying to make things sound fancy, just call it what it is… rice starch 🤷🏼♀️.
Edit…. Also rice starch and potatoes starch is not only good for humans but it’s also amazing for helping your plants grow. Now I know there’s a lot of people that never listen and will argue with me that I’m wrong. So to this I say that if you don’t believe me then just Google it. And Google will explain how good rice/potatoes starch is for plants/flowers.
But that rice was cooked afterwards & eaten tho right😮💨
Yea I think so:)
PROBABLY THROWN OUT AND WASTED like she said some people keep the rice, but I don't
@@palestar828 she didn't say that though. she said you don't need it at all, meaning you don't need to use it with the water on your hair.
@@palestar828 Hi, just gonna be annoying for a sec;;;
Wasting food (or, y'know, stuff in general) is a really really bad idea, I believe... If you don't like eating rice, I mean, you can maybe find another way to use it? Like, maybe as a phone emergency kit once it dries out, or you can stuff a plushie with it, or you can make some sort of craft, or maybe a noisemaker, idk...
Just, do whatever, as long as you're not exactly putting it to waste;;;
ALSO, if you want to cook it, first off, while I don't know much about this, I'm pretty sure that you have to add the water back, so it has enough for cooking, at least.
@@palestar828 You need to pay more attention, she said you don’t need to keep the grains with the water.
Saitama rn: shut up and take my money!
The magic is in the B and E vitamins 😊
It really is wonderful but if you have very kinky curly hair make sure that you deep condition every time when using this because this is very high in proteins.
How do u ferment the rice water? Do u keep it in fridge
I've been interested in trying this. This looks fairly simple.
I wonder…is there organic rice?
@@Propfaqs yeah I think there surely will be. We would have to pick such rice brands carefully then
you andded much value Dr THANKYOU
They know they can still eat the rice.. right?
I hope so tooo😭
The tea tree oil helps your scalp, it has antimicrobial properties
Rice water is nice on the face, too.
I used rice water to grow my undercut back out and I think Ts really works that was 4 years ago and I use it twice a month .
I use braids. Lol! But, I’d love to try rice water!!🥰
I tired this a long time ago but no citrus and no boiling. I just fermented it for two day let sit in my hair for 1hr i put my hair up in a shower cap also while sitting for the 1hr. It worked for me
"concoction" i find that so funnyyy
We need a part 2 showing us how to use it!!!
At this point, rice can bring back the dead one 💀
Thanks for this! 😊
No way!!! I thought for sure you’d say cap😮
Same but anyways it works because I used to use it and my hair is lower bra strap length
Thanks for the advice😊😊❤
I want to hear about the other ways to thicken hair as well please 😍
Thanks Dr Youn
I use rice water for skin discoloration tkk
I’m going to totally try this! 👍🏼
Wait so does he say if it's true or not?
He signals and mouths right at the end "fact".
no. this video is pointless
the nutrients are good.
The starches... (the stuff that the water white) isnt all that good for hair.
can lead to really strong buildup.
I like this Doctor 🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭☠️☠️☠️ he is so hilarious extra and animated 🤣🤣🤣🤣
So doing thus!! I've heard great things about thus diy!!! Im 50 and so need it for my hair and face!!
I seperate the rice from the water
Throw out rice and keep water.
I was amazed 😮
Now a few years on, im going to start this process again because I have hair thinning 😢 and im a woman .
Will help with hair loss!! Im confident of this!!
When I was doing this for length, i noticed new hair growth also!! So im confident that it will help my hair to thicken out again!!
how has your hair journey gone since then?? any updates??
Do you rediluted with water. Or you use straight
So Dr Youn what is your take on this?
I want to start this for a year and see how long my hair grows
I don't know if it was the "rice water" that was claimed or if it was chemicals, but I used a spray on my long curly hair that was feeling a little dry, and the spray ruined it. My hair stuck together like glue and turned into knots, I had to cut all of my hair off.
Theres no reason to have to cut it off. Some warm water and hair conditioner would have easily fixed the knotting and removed the starch.
Will it give the same results with brown rice?
Do we keep it in the fridge???
Indonesian use coconut oil for hair. Massage your scalp with coconut oil, leave it for 10-15 minutes, then wash.
It’s hard to wash out
It works ❤ I love it
What does it do
It's not really fermenting because you destroy the yeast when you heat it on the stove. So there is no need to just let it sit for three days
Hey Dr I follow the skin care routine you suggested earlier on your channel and it has worked like miracle for me , can you please provide a hair care routine as well with products easily available in other countries under budget. Love from India 🇮🇳
Can the same procedure use for skin care??
For how many days can we store it?
This depends on the hair type but generally rosemary water does the same thing. Also, using rice water too often can cause protein overload on your hair which can damage your hair very badly. I just make some rosemary water by adding water and some sprigs of rosemary (you can also add ginger) to a pot and boil for about 20 min or until the water changes colour. Put this in a spray bottle and pray on your scalp every day. Massage it into your scalp and then just let it dry. You don't wash it out or anything after and it doesn't leave any scent. This works really well for me. Do your research guys!
Uncle roger would lose it if she just dumped all the rice was in the trash
Does it matter the type or brand of rice you should use?
This is actually one of the things thay helps prevent hair fall as well. There is a lot of B vitamins in rice which helps to strengthen the hair follicle amd prevent falling
Is it good for alopecia?
Don’t waste food in the house go cook it
Also in rice water you can soak clove then use for hair growth
till how many days does this stay usefull?
Can I use orange peels?
May favorite shampoo and conditioner has rice milk in it. Devine!
Rice is so versatile
Just massage oil into your hair every Friday sleep with it on overnight and clean it out on Saturday massaging your hair properly while shampooing it's good for hair growth and strength
What type of rice do you use? I’ve read that it makes a big difference in the type of rice, thx😊
You aren't supposed to heat it as it kills the good stuff that's good for your hair. You ferment the water with the citrus peels for about 3 days to a week
I don't make this very often anymore because I found a protein treatment that's amazing .
But I wash the rice, I blend it in water , leave to ferment with the peels for 3 days.
What’s the protein treatment you’re using which is amazing? Please share!
Do u leave it in the refrigerator or at room temperature?
If you only need rice starch, can you also use rice flour? 🤔
Is it good for a low or high porosity hair
This makes your hair healthier.. if you want to grow your hair a slightly faster try massaging your scalp and shower with cold or maybe luke warm water
it does not make your hair grow ... it prevents breaking which makes the hair stronger and healthier which improves the hair from things like dye , heat etc
Do I need to put in peels?
I don’t boil mine but I do rinse it well and all rosemary and orange. I ferment mine on the counter top 2-3 days on the summer and about 5 days in the winter
Just buy rice protein from handmade comsetics store and add some drops to water to rinse them.
WHY DOES SHE POUR SO SLOW
Ig she doesn't want it to splash around idk
Surely heating the essential will destroy the benefits? Thoughts?
you can also use products w/rice water in them !!
Just the rice water does wonders to the hair
Is this good for thinning at the crown?
Did she wash the orange well before adding it to the pot?
Probably is bad but I just use the rice water plain. Like no boil, I just pour it directly on my hair before washing or leave it in my shampoo. This is not cap, it works, I've been doing this since I was 17. I'm 24 now, this helps your hair grow super fast (idk about thickening though). You will see it within the week
not me expecting this to be cap...
There is a better recipe and more precise instructions for this water on Peppy's blog! One more ingredient and you can eliminate store bought shampoo if you like 😊
Can u share link to blog?
And that ingredient would be….?!😂
I don’t get it, do you wash and rince the rice for 10 mins or do you keep the same water and just massage the rice for 10 mins? Cause after 5 rinces that rice water is gonna be real clear and it takes about a minute or 2 tops
It's starting to smell is it good or bad?
