To be fair. If Cartoon Network had to have a live action segment, shows like “Out of Jimmy’s head” probably would work best because it combined live action with animation. Therefore bringing the “real” promised in CN Real, while still keeping the “cartoon” in Cartoon Network. The only problem is it was done poorly.

Out of Jimmy's Head is actually a sequel series to a Cartoon Network movie Re-Animated. In the movie Jimmy gets hit by an amusement park train at a theme park based on an animator's world and characters. He was injured so badly that his brain had to be replaced. They used the brain of the animator which they kept cryogenically frozen at the theme park. Because of the animator's brain he starts seeing the cartoon characters and can speak with them. Golly Gopher was voiced by Paul Reubens or better known as Pee-Wee Herman. I remember kind of liking the movie but not the show.

Out of these shows, Hole in the Wall was definitely the best one. The MAD series Cartoon Network had on around that same time even parodied it as if the Chinese created it as part of the Great Wall and the Mongols had to play the game in order to attack China. I'd like to implement it to stop the Americans and those in the South from invading. I mean yeah the show's concept is stupid, but that's the point. After all, it was based off a Japanese game show, and Japanese game shows are crazy! Just look at how crazy Takeshi's Castle is or Dero! Wipeout was inspired by Japanese game shows like Takeshi's Castle and because of that, Tokyo Broadcasting System sued ABC for it.

Those teens said "Dude, what would happen if our show got cancelled?" and Cartoon Network was like, *"Say no more".* Something I remember from that era was we were watching Jack and Jill in the theatre in 2011 and one of the commercials that came on was a preview for Incredible Crew with Jeremy Shada singing how cool it is to run errands with his mom. My mom, of course, loved it, but I was cringing so hard because it's so much "How do ya do, fellow kids?" energy.
I mean it's insane that Finn the Human and Miles Morales are in the same show, but it's like they tried to pull an Amanda Show and forgot what made that show work. Though I'm not surprised Shameik hit the big league, he was the funniest on the show by far and he's the perfect Miles Morales. I'm glad Sony recognized his talent.

    My thoughts:
Destroy Build Destroy: I remember only watching one episode where it was a promotion for the Live Action Scooby-Doo movie coming up, so they had the Scooby-Doo cast as contestants and even featured the Mystery Machine. I remember thinking it was alright.
Dude What Would Happen: I think I watched this alot because it would happen to be on just before I'd go to school, so I'd often watch it while eating breakfast. But I legitimately can't remember a thing that happened in it except one episode where they went vampire hunting to see if Twilight Vampires or Classic Vampires are easier to kill, which I actually think sounds pretty cool in concept.
Level Up: OK, I can't lie, I legitimately loved this show. I haven't watched it recently so I can't verify if I still do, I just remember loving all the Monster designs and all the villains.
Incredible Crew: Can't lie with this one either but I loved it. In fact there's some jokes that I still replay in my head to this day despite not seeing it for years. Kinda ironic that it sorta mirrors Waffles opinion as I never really understood the appeal of Game Grumps.
All the other shows I never watched because I didn't care enough to see them. I think I might've seen the pilot for Out of Jimmy's Head and thought it was OK, but besides that I never saw the show.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the one thing I remember from BrainRush was that a kid was asked what the name of Nemo's father was from Finding Nemo. He said "Merlon" or something, with his answer spelled out onscreen. He got the answer wrong (It's "Marlin"), but it was still registered as a correct answer and he got a cash prize for it. That was what instantly solidified for me that the show was not worth my time.
Ok, there is one other thing I remember. A kid was asked to name-drop as many transformers as possible, and he could only name the three on the poster/cover of the first Michael Bay movie (Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Megatron).
On another note, I gotta say, at least "The Othersiders" had the most creative title out of all these ghost trend shows.
Oh, yeah, and Tower Prep was rad; easily the best part of CN real. That show was Paul Dini's baby, and it's a crying shame how things turned out. By some bizarre coincidence, it seems I just started revisiting the show ON THE EXACT SAME DAY you uploaded this. Things might've gone over more smoothly and be able to take its concepts, setpieces, and action scenes further if he stuck to his strengths in animation (as well as Cartoon Network's strengths), but the end-result was still intriguing all the same. It's been an inspiring work for me, as I've grown up with it influencing a series script of mine, making sure to avoid its pitfalls as it's completely independent and as animated as possible.

I'd argue that Cartoon Network had to hit this low in order to course correct almost immediately into their Renaissance. Helped that they had 2 fantastic cartoons in this era to transition us into the Cartoon Network Renaissance. These 2 cartoons, if not obvious, were Chowder and The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. And Flapjack is very much an origin point of the creators for so many of the greatest cartoons of the following era like Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Gravity Falls. So I think that show specifically deserves a lot of credit for the CN Renaissance, (and the overall TV cartoon Renaissance of the era, not just limited to Cartoon Network).

Because these were more just throw ideas at a wall and film it with a minimal camera crew, they were far cheaper and let themselves stay on the air. Once the strike was over, that's when we got the revival shows like Adventure Time and Gumball.

Nah, Adventure Time, Regular Show, Gumball, Young Justice, Generator Rex, Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc, The Looney Tunes show, and eventually Steven Universe later on, were enough for CN to put its focus on more of its Renaissance shows by then. The only year the live-action shows were super advertised was in 2009 with CN Real, and CN Real got cancelled in early 2010 right before the CHECK it era began. The Noods era of the late 00's was trash, it was responsible for killing a lot of what made CN great in the late 90's and early 00's.
Also, there was already forms of live-action on CN long before then. Re-Animated movie from 2006, led to Out Of Jimmy's Head being created in 2007, that's what started it all, and the "Fall Is Something That Grownups Invented" theme CN had was also live-action territory as well and killed CN at the time. Well before that. If you ask me, Everything between Re-Animated in late 2006 and CN Real in 2009 (including the Fall 2007 era) was more live-action than any other period in CN's history.

CN Real was a block only on Wednesday nights. 1 day out of the week in 2009 compared to constant showings throughout the week of Incredible Crew, Destroy, and Hole in the Wall during the "renaissance". And the Noods era was kinda cool. Branding was on point and Flapjack and Chowder carried the network along with Total Drama and Star Wars Clone Wars. Ed Edd n Eddy was still going and Billy and Mandy and Foster's were ending. And some old shows were still re airing.
