Thank you so much! I’m the photographer who took the photos of Mercedes- it really meant a lot hearing you push me to getting my business backend stuff together ❤ I have definitely had my prints come out dark before so I will definitely keep that in mind to increase the exposure a tad before sending them off to the print lab.
Oh and I should mention I used two constant LED lights at about 45 degrees on each side of the subject and one on camera flash for those photos. No windows :) I do want to upgrade to external strobes soon though!
What about dehazing Tessa's photo? I wonder if that would have helped, in addition to denoising. In the past, the noise sliders were my go-to. In recent years, I've seen better results when I start with the dehazing slider. You have to be careful, I know. Dehazing can make the blacks too black and the shadows too dark. Great idea about converting it to black and white! I love James' capture of Dune! I like the perspective and the composition. If he were my dog, I'd buy that image. I love your review style. You're compassionate and encouraging, yet thorough. I'll likely join the photo review, at some point, once I manifest higher income. I'm working on it, really I am. 🙂
Thank you for the review and yes, I'm sure the open shade was something I learned from you, you have the best tips and tricks! I'm glad you had the settings there, I've been back and forth on aperture quite a bit because of the nose-in-focus issue you mentioned. There's definitely that temptation to use the full aperture because I have it on some lenses. I think for one of the shoots I did go down to 1.4 on my Sigma 85mm for a few shots because I was curious and the dog was pretty timid so I used my settings to add some variation in the shots in addition to moving her around. I don't think they'll work out but I was curious and light was so hard to come by because of unforecasted clouds so I may have used it to cheat on proper exposure a bit lol
