What a great video. I wish every new photographer (and a lot of seasoned ones too) would see this. It becomes fatiguing dealing with SOOC purists. As you know, I mostly do wildlife and nature photography. I tend to put my photos into 3 buckets. 1) ID shot - I just want to be able to identify a plant or creature when I get home. 2) Documentary - I was there, I saw that (another more cynical way to think of documentary is the scene lacked interest but I want to remember being there). 3) Emotive - I want the viewer to feel some emotion (awe at the beauty of nature, joy at the colorful wildflowers, happiness at a cute baby animal, sense of wonder at something they have not seen before. In all of my nature photography I try my best to be an ambassador for nature and use it to build awareness and appreciation. Thanks Monique for this video. I surely do hope your viewers will listen closely to what you're saying here.
Yes! That's why I prefer on-location photography over studio photography. I know they're both necessary; but I like photographing dogs and people in their natural element just being themselves. I prefer candid photography over posed. It's what I want to see. 😄 Of course, I know, if we're working for a client, we need to deliver what they want to see. 😉 Thanks for giving permission to edit. With the latest and greatest camera, anybody can get a really great snapshot. Beginning photographers sometimes worry that these cameras are going to put them out of business. What will separate a photographer from someone getting the best out of their phone or camera is the creativity and the heart we put into it. There I go associating myself as a photographer. 😉😄 Thanks for this Monique! Hopefully I'll find some time to look through my photos, from this perspective. Maybe, I'll find that what I'm capturing through my heart and identifying as beauty, makes up for my apparent technical disabilities. 😅
another great video. wondered if you ever shoot with just one strobe light? I have just recently purchased the Godox 600 and I havent got a clue where to position it. I also have mini dachshunds that wont sit still!! grr
This is exactly why we do what we do, to capture the feeling or the connection or the moment, that's not always going to come SOOC but that's why we have post-processing. It's a tool as much as lighting, lenses, cameras, and squeakers, it'd be foolish not to use it when it is necessary to deliver on the promise of that capture!

you want to convey the feeling you were having when you were there. To the best of your ability.
Yes, that is what I said :)
