If there’s something Death By Audio do to perfection, then it’s blowing your signal to bits in the most disgustingly beautiful way possible, and the Germanium Filter sticks to that recipe. Utilizing obsolete Germanium transistors in a vintage console-inspired drive circuit with and an extreme-ranging filter that goes from meaty lows to shredding highs, the Germanium filter will give you everything from beautiful jangly boosts, clangy lo-fi tones and brutal swelling fuzz assaults.

What an insane demo - the craziest part is, if I had a go with this pedal, I doubt I could create half the magic you've done here. I'd probably set it to fill tilt, speaker blowing filth and be happy. You always coax out unexpected magic in your playing, and this is a prime example of it! That lo-fi parade section was mind blowing!

This is easily one of the best pedals I’ve ever heard and I’ve owned 100’s. Sounds like a vintage Germanium Fuzz Face into a Marshall Plexi. I’m a sucker for anything Germanium because nothing has that dynamic range from sparkling cleans to gritty fuzz. Amazing demo mate. Really, really enjoyed it. Thanks 🙏🏼 This will definitely be the next pedal I purchase.

I have the rooms and echo dream 2. This one is also tempting. Love how DBA pedals usually have options but are very easy to get a handle on. Lot of control with just the two knobs on this one.
That is so spot-on! All of their pedals are super intuitive, but carry such extensive sonic range. Really brilliant designs. Rooms and Echo Dream 2 are probably my favorite DBA pedals, alongside Fuzz War, Evil Filter and now this Germanium Filter. They really know how to make pedals feel and sound special.
I'll say only one thing: YESSSSSSSSS! loving the Riff and Run series! That means we get you on our screens more often= win/win. What an absolute corker of a pedal, do discrete when dialled back, but unleashed, shit, it's nuts. It sounds exceptional and your playing was excellent. ❤️❤️❤️

I really dig the more laidback settings. Just that bit of dirt on top of your clean sound.
That’s my personal favorite way to use it as well. Those bright edge of breakup tones just add so much glassy character and dynamics. Love it!
even if I'm not in the market for pedals, I find inspiration in the stuff you play and/or ways to use other pedals I might have like this in ways I didn't think of

Really love how great it sounds, with it on the clean side of the Filter knob, and all of the tonal possibilities, Heavy to Bright.
This would be a really unique sound to boost an OD for solos. Think it would cut through a mix well.

I’ve had this on my board for a couple of weeks now mostly using it for those lower gain sounds. It’s amazing! I was always happy with how my rig sounded but now if I click this pedal off it sounds like garbage. Didn’t know what I was missing.

However, Do to being separated from said dynamic pedals, because they were stolen, I lost that all important aspect of my playing. Thanks to Oliver, I’ve found my way home to the magic of germanium once again and their magic dynamic abilities and thanks to you Stephan and you’re wonderful performance, you brought me back to something I was missing. I bought the Germanium Filter….thanx Stephan, you have been instrumental on so many of my important pedal purchases…..BTW, your playing has really improved, not that you needed to improve, but you’re playing has elevated to another level and that’s what it’s all about!

Death By Audio are the masters of cool pedal aesthetics. The manage to keep it minimalistic, while still retaining a ton of visual intrigue that makes you want to dive straight into the pedal. And of course they always sound as rad as they look. Happy you enjoyed it 😊

Hey Stefan. Do you have a Tone Saver installed, or something similar? Or did your Tele come stocked with something, that prohibits the highs from disappearing when rolling off the volume? Cheers.
No, my guitar doesn't have any treble bleed modifications installed. It's simply the pedal that's designed to retain impeccable high-end clarity when you roll off the volume on your guitar.

Do you have really hot pickups? I just bought one of these and there is almost no gain even when completely maxxed.
No, my pickups are actually pretty low output. To rule out there being something wrong with your pedal, I would open up the backplate and adjust the internal volume trim pot. It might have been set too low. If that doesn’t resolve your issue, then the pedal is definitely broken, and you need to contact DBA about it. It should be louder than loud and dirtier than dirty like all DBA pedals
