The Death By Audio Germanium Filter is a powerful tool that provides anything from dirty boost to carved out fuzz. Death By Audio starts with an unabashed console-style drive circuit with a penchant for overloading anything you feed into it, thanks to some special "obsolete" Ge transistors. The Filter knob works hand in hand with the gain control and the heavy range pummels your speakers with sub frequencies and then sweeps into scooped territory towards the middle and high pass at higher ranges. The Germanium filter also has an internal linear master volume to better match with direct recording or to really kick your amp into saturation! Like all DBA effects, experimentation is key and stacking with other pedals will breathe new life and unexplored sweet spots into your pedal chain. I really appreciate it, Ryan! Lately the process has started with a drum track from my friend in Germany, Stefan Pötzsch. Then I almost always write the bass first so it locks properly and then come up with a unique riff on guitar. Thanks for the question:)

God I love this pedal. There are certain settings that sound like running a really shitty acoustic clip on pickup DI to a Tascam or mixer, it’s heaven.
Amazing demo, Andy, as always! I wish DBA had included an expression pedal input to control the filter sweep, like on the Moog MF Drive. That would be the icing on the cake 👍
I was doing it by hand the other day, it DOES sound wild. Wonder if oliver would ever do an expression pedal version.

Yes, that’s what I did, so I showed how it sounded with the Ge filter before (JHS example) and after dirt (BB).
