I moved to NYC in 2020 too. Have had such similar feelings as to what you describe and show in this video. I willingly (kinda had to but was also kinda fed up) left right at the end of 22 and ofc have been missing it very soon after. This felt like a love letter to not just the city itself but the journey you and I and probably so many other people went/go through moving/living there. Gave me a good feeling of nostalgia even though this video was your life and not mine hahah but I could relate so well. My first video from you and I applaud you. Not just beautiful work but work that makes you feel something and isn't that what we all seek. Really enjoyed it.
I'm speechless at your journey. I keep telling my wife that being happy doesn't come easy and your last video and this one shows that you need reflect to appreciate the future. The feels right now are Crazy. BIG LOVE.
Downside of deleting tt and spending less time on instagram (even though it helped my mental health) is that I stopped seeing you regularly. But the algorithmic Gods blessed me with this amazing film. Happy to see what you make Daren!

I got so emotional watching this especially as someone who was born and raised in NYC. Leaving was definitely one of the best decisions I ever made and you have to remind yourself you can always just go back and visit.

Came across this video after moving away and feeling homesick for what I call my “soul city”. I’m in Michigan now and was shocked at the end lol! The feeling of leaving a place you dearly love to enter a new era of life is bittersweet but full of growth and great new experiences. Wishing you guys the best time in Michigan!
I’ve been sick of NY for about 4 years now…I can’t wait to LEAVE, and yet…your video makes me sad to go; not for leaving my life here, but because you found a beautiful life and friend circle that I never did, and there must be a lot of bittersweet feelings as a result. I’ve lived in DC for 8 years now, and became addicted to the noise and pace, but over the last year started to feel like it was all too expensive, too small, and too much. My partner and I are planning to move to Ohio in the spring. It feels the same way you just illustrated, it feels good not to feel alone in that.

All of this is my experience as well!! Except we left 3 months ago and we already miss NYC 😢. We are moving back when our current lease is up.
Ah, I am leaving the city right now as well and the feeling of loving it but being a little crushed by it and needing to leave (but not totally wanting to leave) (and changing the way you think of yourself) is so relatable. Thanks for expressing all of this in such an incredible way. Holding on to the "it's all good, I'll go back" mentality.

I grew up close to the city. going there as a kid and teenager I couldn’t imagine myself NOT ending up living there. but as an adult I was shocked that one day the constant noise and go go go of the city stressed me out beyond belief. I value my peace and quiet more than I thought I would at this age.
I resonate with this as well. I think kids who grew up in the suburbs all want to escape to the city. Some will love it. Some will find out they hate it. I'm in the middle.
i remember your videos when you first moved to ny. i love checking in on your videos every so often and seeing how youre dong. congrats on the move and good luck

When I was really young I always wanted to live in New York(proper theater kid things) but quickly realized I probably wouldn’t like it. This makes me want to visit New York so bad 😭❤
It is truly a magical place. Especially for the arts. But it is also difficult. You gotta atleast spend some time there!
