Minimal requirements are power (power supply and USB cable) and a MicroSD card. The Raspberry Pi Imager already allows you to give in your Wi-Fi name and password and to allow SSH access. With the aforementioned, you can skip on keyboard, mouse and terminal (including HDMI cable), just set it up as a headless server.
I would recommend a casing (you already discovered why) and an ethernet cable when it will be in a fixed location.
