    I just finished a conversion, but buy the Ever-Start 29DC $119.98. ($404.80) Saved $300.00 over Costco (6×6V) and $500.00 over a battery store. The batteries aren't apples to apples but it'll work.

    36v is 36v it doesn't matter if you use 6x6 or 3x12. If you had a 48v you also have the option of using 8v batteries so its technically not a conversion. The 6v are not "golf cart" batteries. They are just 6v deep cycle. Charging is not affected because its still 36v. The advantage of using 12v is upfront cost and weight. The thing is, the 12v will most likely be needing to be replaced twice as often. A 12v will also be discharged more than and 8v or 6v which is what kills the battery. Ive been told by several avid golfers that the 12v batteries get about 25% lessdistance per charge compared to using 6v batteries. Good video series.

      Do you reread what you say sometimes and think the same thing I'm thinking ? No adult likes to be talked down to or wants to listen to over detailed examples of obviously basic math. I hope you don't think your the only person on UA-cam to have graduated from elementary school . Come on man show some respect to the guy that posted the video and keep your damn mouth shut unless , like momma says, you have nice things to say. For example I could choose to point out how I question your knowledge on this matter based on the fact that you know many "avid" golfers but must not play golf or else you would know first hand what to expect when making this conversion and would also know that buying 3x12's twice is still cheaper and I've never had a charged cart not make it thru 18 holes of golf and back to the barn after a stop by the clubhouse for a cold beverage. C'mon man it's a win win in my book

    You'll get less range because: six 6 volt Trojan batteries for instance contain much more lead ( plates) then just the three .12 Volt deep cycle batteries.

    Picking up this exact model cart when I can get a trailer to do so. I know the 6 6volt batteries that are in it are shot, completely and utterly. This is exactly what I was looking at doing, $1200 for batteries, no thanks. How does the torq compare? I am mainly getting a cart for my wife to haul her stuff around the homestead.

      The original trojan 105 battery is 225 amp hours, so it's 8.1 kwh for all 6. At a 50 percent depth of discharge they have a range of 30 miles. The everstart 24dc battery is 101 amp hours, so 3.63 kwh for all 3. At a 50 percent depth of discharge they have a range of 13 miles. So roughly 43 percent range of the original batteries.

      make sure the charging recepticle cables are hooked up, or it won't work (red white and black). Been there done that when switching to lithium. Even though the lithiums have their own charger, still need to connect the old charger cables for the circuitry to work.

      @@princeinflorida214There is no way your paying 600$ for 6 6v golf cart batteries unless there “restored”, “refurbished”. It’s closer to 800$-1000$ depending if you purchase online or at a dealer although not 1/3 the price definitely better than full price before you take into account the shorter life span

      They won't hurt the motor at all but in less than a year he will need to replace the batteries. They work very well for about 2 months, then start loosing charging capacity fast. I have tried it with many kinds of 12 volt batteries.

      No, It will not damage your motor. The Walmart batteries are a good choice because they have a 1-year free replacement warranty. And it's Walmart, so I would imagine you could return them for any reason.

    you are using marine batteries which are cold cranking amps and golf cart batteries are amp hours storage batteries, the ammount of lead is cut by 80% with what your doing and if your using your factory powerwise charger you are frying the batteries because it is set to amp hour not cold cranking amps, you barely get any run time and so after 8 months they will not work and be fried so you have to spend 300 every year compared to 6 6v Trojans for a total of 1050 and them last 5 years and get full run time and charge or spend 1400 on batteries you barely get run time out of, not to mention how cold cranking amps affects your 5 pin controller and solenoid which is another 900 to replace… coming from a golf cart master tech

    • @76ShadowGhost
      @76ShadowGhost 2 роки тому

      He could also put another string of batteries in and run them series/parallel. This would give him the amp hours needed so the charger won't burn them up. Also get more run time. Personally, I wouldn't use Everstart batteries though.

    • @markmiles7802
      @markmiles7802 Рік тому +8

      Coming from an electrical engineer, the "cold cranking amps" is not a QUALITY of the battery's output, but a measure of high current capability, which is determined by the circuitry, not the battery, so this parameter would have no bearing on a controller. As for the charger, the internal resistance of the battery will naturally limit the charger's output, and if it's a modern charger, it will cycle normally through Bulk, Acceptance, and Float. The only real downside to using 12v deep cycle batteries is that they will have less capacity, and therefore less range. 6V is better, but 12V Deep Cycle might be more cost effective depending on how the cart is used.

      @@harlanroot8849 Probably need new batteries. Some have been able to save them by using a 200 amp charger or even a DC welder. There are several UA-cam videos showing this. I've had semi-successful luck but in the end a new battery is the best way to go. I've been able to get another season out of batteries but by winter they're toast again.
      If you watch the UA-cam videos and decide to charge. If you're using a welder, make sure it's DC (not AC) and make sure the polarity is correct. Very important.

      By the time you buy six 12V batteries there is little cost advantage if any. The cost savings here is the fact that only three batteries need be purchased.
