How to Knit: Mock Fisherman's Rib
Вставка
- Опубліковано 24 лис 2024
- In this easy to follow video tutorial we will show you how to knit mock fisherman's rib stitch. This highly textured stitch is perfect for a variety of knitted items, such as sweaters, hats and scarves. The stitch is double sided, so it looks great no matter how you wear it. One side has smooth vertical lines while the other has a deep crinkle effect.
The yarn used in this video is Crazy Sexy Wool in Magic Mint.

You can see this stitch being used in the Wellington Hat.

This video is the only tutorial they
at teaches the mock stitch so it's easy to understand. This has been very helpful. Thank you so much. Karen

how many stitches would you need to make a scarf?
So on the second row, you knit first, insert needle under loop, and purl?
Hi WATG, I would like to knit the Stevie Sweater like knit a "top down sweater" and I would like to know if I will have the crinkle effect, knitting in the round?

I just purchased my first pattern from WATG and last night I tried this stitch and ending up with HOLES. Fortunately I'm only working on the swatch and learning the technique, but as many have pointed out, the video is NOT clear enough. Is it possible to get a stitch diagram attached to this video which shows where we are inserting the needle on row 2 (whole in row below) of the pattern? I'm going to try again tonight.
this looks so easy but I know I'm doing something wrong...what a shame.
I hope that you will be offering a class in new jersey soon.
Hello Carmen Torres, do you know what went wrong? Maybe we could help you out...? Sometimes it doesn't work if you have cast on the wrong number of stitches? Try to make sure you have cast on an uneven number of stitches and see if this changes anything? Let us know how you get on :)

Can anyone please show how to correct a dropped stich with this pattern. Thank you. Also, the bind off is the normal way or is it different?
nice video! Is it the same pattern if I work with circular needles? I am still trying to figure out what changes in various patterns when someone work like that :) Thanks for the patience!
I was having trouble with this so I practised on size 10mm needles with t-shirt yarn, got the hang of it and went back to the 5.5mm needles with Happy Shiny Cotton, thank you from @knittingpoppy
When I do step 2 & 3 and go back to step one my yarn unravels. What am I doing wrong.
can you make the two colour version of this tutorial?
langitbiru7 We'll suggest this to the team - do you mean a stripe version?
Hi, I'm currently working on a knitting project. the instructions say to work 15 rows in mock fisherman's rib. In the fisherman's rib, do I count Row 1: knit all stitches and Row 2 with the 3 steps as 1 row or as 2 rows? Thanks!

I find knitting below to be extremely difficult. I always find it so hard to find the hole, and then to draw it through properly. I think I may give up on patterns that require this.
Knit a little looser, maybe?
It's so difficult to follow these without spoken instructions, cos if I have to pause or go back, I can't tell which stitch I'm seeing and if I've already done it etc :/

Write them down first then start working following what u wrote and checking off what ur working on
can you make a video giving a few pointers on this particular design? whenever i try to knit this stitch the sides always look messy with loops poking out of the side and im not sure what im doing wrong! any advice would be beneficial
100happytuna Hmmm, you could try doing as we described above in the Penelope Sweater, and purl the first stitch then knit in the row below for the second stitch.
why arent you talkinggg lol
Pattern please
Am I crazy or when y’all say you’re going “clockwise” you’re really going counter-clockwise on a knit stitch?

Attempt 6 of the Louis Beanie. Video says start with a purl. Whereas the booklet says work the first stitch not as a purl. Don't believe you can do this in mock fishermans stitch? It doesn't match up when you start decreasing. You should write your instructions long hand; k, p, k, p so much easier...
It is so difficult.
It's a lovely stitch when you get a hang of it. Basically you knit across all sts on odd rows, and on even rows you purl 1 st, then knit 1 st below (k1b) across the row
you guys really need to have a video on ripping this nonsense out, I'm an "advanced " knitter according to WATG but this stitch and ripping out my mistakes after working this stitch for the entire front piece of the replay jumper was one of the worst knitting experiences of my life
So sorry you feel this way. Could you give more detail as to why you had a bad experience? We would love to be able to help!
I'm having the same problem and I'm only trying to make a hat haha. The videos don't match the booklets. So it's extra confusing. I feel your pain and knitting used to relax me :)
Hmm...that's not your instructions on the Penelope Sweater pattern. It has a different mock fishermen stitch.
EmbraceTheFrizz It's the same stitch, just that on the Penelope Sweater you start with the knit row. The first stitch of the Penelope is a 'knit into the row below' then purl, but it produces exactly the same effect :)

I thought this was called the Half Fisherman's Rib, not the Mock or False Fisherman's Rib...? Not that it really matters...
wtf
