Harley Benton SC-500 BK - Random Tone Noodling

  • Hello there! This is a video of me just noodling on a single cut. I just wanted to check some random tones (clean, distorted rhythm and lead) from the amp sims and see how the original pickups react to them. This isn't any type of showoff lol (although it could be a lot tighter with certain practice xD), just some random play without any backtrack this time. Enjoy!

Nice playing and tone, Milos. And that is a basswood body, I believe.

    •  3 роки тому +1

Thanks, Xavier! Yeah, it's a basswood body with a blackwood fingerboard.

Your setup sounds amazing it does not sound like a guitar so cheap and affordable, can you please be kind enough and share us your setup and amp or any sim you use to get that fricking awesome sound. Also great playing, love from India🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

Thanks a lot for your feedback! For the rhythm metal sections I used some free plugins made by Vadim Taranov, Krunkenstein and PV530 with some free IR packs. I used Amped Roots for the lead and for the clean I used some tone from ez mix 2. Cheers :D

Have you noticed microphonic feedback on higher gain? I want to buy this guitar and everyone says that I shouldn't cause of the pickups.

    •  2 роки тому +1

Yes, it's true. Even when I was playing on crunch channel on room volume, I had to deal with squeals. Later on, I put some Duncan style pickups and reduced the amount by quite a bit. But when I was reherasing, I could still face some on higher volumes. I think it also has to do with the electronics. At least the version I got was pretty dissapointing. On this demo, I had to turn up the interface noise gate for hi gain.
I recommend checking out newer single cut models and other people's reviews. I sold this guitar last year.

Nice playing bro, especially this thrashy riff. Do you think this guitar will sound ok when playing more extreme genres like black or death metal. Cheers bro ❤️

    •  4 роки тому +4

Thanks a lot, man! Well, this guitar is more of a vintage based model, so the pickups are more for blues and rock sound. I had to kill some noise and microphonic attack when I started playing distorted sound.
So I'd recommend swapping to metal pickups, or look for their newest SC-Custom guitars (with active or passive pickups). But this guitar requires some modding and the neck especially isn't that comfy for metal shredding (although I tried anyway xD). Cheers!

Bro! I’m getting mine the next week! At the beginning should I concern about change the strings?

    •  4 місяці тому

Awesome! Their newest SC-500 DLX are interesting. Well, if the factory strings aren't dirty or dusty, I guess you can hang on to them for a while. However, I always change the strings almost right away after buying a guitar.

How's the pickups? Microphonic or not? Planning on getting one

    •  7 місяців тому +1

This set of Roswells was pretty microphonic. I suggest you have a look at SC-DLX series or SC-550. They have better specs and better pickups (Tesla).

Did you noticed any cosmetic issues on the body or fretboard of your guitar? Great video👍

    •  4 роки тому +1

Sorry for the late reply, man. Thanks for your comment! The guitar itself is beautifully designed, I just love the aesthetics. I bought this one used, and it's a B-stock one. And it had few dings right from the start. I recommend trying out a new HB A-stock model, because the one I got has some flaws in terms of specs. Wood itself though is chunky and strong! It's a long comment, but see if you can try some models out before you buy. Cheers!

@ Thanks for reply. I bought one recently from A stock, but it had some minor cosmetic issues, so I sent it back, got another one with no scratches and marks. Very happy with purchase, great guitar👌I am thinking about selling my Epiphone Les Paul Custom Pro...

    •  4 роки тому +1

I'm happy that you got a decent one. So it rivals with Epiphone Lp custom :o

Hi, very nice play! This guitar is good for price?

    •  4 роки тому +1

It's playable, but it has some flaws like frets, switch, not the best tuners and bridge. I bought this one used and it's a B-stock model. I recommend checking out a new model before buying, I think they're doing them a lot better now. Cheers

    • @jakubsabosz2933
      @jakubsabosz2933 4 роки тому +1

Lottery, you will either get good one or crap one. Nothing is sure at this price range.

    • @qaok23
      @qaok23 4 роки тому +1

@@jakubsabosz2933 I have one and it's not crap just little bit flaws on body lines , i think that's because of i live in turkey and it comes from germany , long distance

    •  4 роки тому

Thanks for commenting! Sorry I saw it late. I agree with Jakub, and make sure you get to try the new model if you got any chance. This one I bought used and I got it with some flaws. Finish is beautiful though and wood is massive. In terms of playability, tbh not that easy guitar to play on but it sure is playable. Cheers!

You think this guitar can handle drop c tuning?

    •  2 роки тому

If you put a bit thicker strings on, it might do. Like, maybe 10-54 or 11-56 if you have a heavy hand. It might be a little flobby comparing to the 25.5" guitars, but it could work. I used it mostly for E or Eb tuning.

Not a true representation of the guitar,as I see you have changed the bridge pickup

    •  2 роки тому +1

In this video, I used the original roswell bridge pickup.
