- The Royal Australian Navy using the Shark Marine NAVIGATOR underwater sonar and navigation systems - encounter with a shark.
I downloaded this video from the Australian News site several years ago as it showed our diver-held sonar and navigation system in operation. Recently I received an email request from a Grade 6 student for information on sharks. I explained to her that we didn't really deal with sharks but sometimes our equipment does. I then posted this video to my personal UA-cam site and sent her a link - not quite sure how all the rest of you found it..... Not my video but thanks for the likes!! - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини

Journalism. Amazing.
Observation of the century.
If that doesn't just perfectly sum up Australian Media I don't what does

These divers are still in training, thats the only reason why they could be interviewed. The fully trained ones could not be gotten ahold of, as they mastered the art of invisibility.
Their Chief Instructor , nick-named Buttons , was standing on Camera the whole Time . That's how good HE is .
hahahaha... nice one.

And why do scuba divers roll backwards off a boat?
Because if they rolled forwards, they'd be in the boat!
Err cuz it’s the best way to do so. You want them to belly flop onto their equipment or what?

Whoooosh
"Swiftly and silently" whilst racing toward shore with a 75hp engine and falling into the water in a huge splash.
"racing" towards shore at about 5kts..? huge splash? neither the the outboard nor the divers are going to be heard by anyone past like 75 metres. clearance divers generally swim the last 400+ metres anyway.

Thank you all for your service and courage.
The most inspiring part of that (in my opinion), was the fact that we saw an injured/disabled veteran continuing to serve.
Awesome and inspiring to see that his skills and experience are continuing to be recognized and appreciated, not even to mention his own personal courage to continue.
God bless all those that serve.
Love your work fellas. Proud to be Australian. Thank you for all your hard work

Truth!
My pop was a clearance diver back in the day
Apparently my great grandfather did "this kind of work", I phrase it that way because whilst there was undoubtedly similarities it was probably also quite different back then. Was always told he was too young during WW1 and too old for WW2. He did have a metric fuck ton of medals though that he never spoke about so was obviously doing something somewhere. All a bit mysterious really, I suspect it was WW2 as I'm pretty sure he would have been 38 at the start which isn't exactly way out there old. Heard something about limpet mines once, guess as they're pretty small he was more likely planting them than looking for them. But who knows.
At least you know what these guys look like 👍 good job at concealment of identity

Always wondered what these types of divers do about the carnivorous nasties that inhabit the depths, aside from simply trying to evade them of course. A fuck off big blade is something but would imagine is less than ideal against a gigantic shark or crocodile. Then you have some countries that have special underwater firearms but they're more geared towards human targets and may not make much difference against a huge shark. I've pondered from time to time whether any military has ever looked into some kind of incapacitant spray that could work underwater. Some kind of chemical, solid or gas that would work underwater and when discharged near a fuck off massive shark would make it swim away in repulsion, ideally without the same stuff taking out the frogman lol.
Im sure there are certain chemicals that sharks don’t like just as moths hate moth balls, but dumping chemicals in the water that the aquatic life don’t like won’t be ideal for them and in a worse case scenario might cause them to migrate elsewhere, a spray would be difficult to work because while it is pushed out by a gas it still has liquid in it so depending on how light or heavy the liquid is compared to water will determine it’s effectiveness, honestly worse case scenario if you see a shark, just swim away and hope it hasn’t spotted you, if it has well it might be too late, but you could use your knife, underwater firearm, fist (if that would even work) or anything else at your disposal.
In my opinion they should work on (if they haven't already ) on a stun bullet enclosed in a shell which havs a small pressure plate at the front. when it hits a target, it bursts opens the shell and stuns the shark and gives them time to get away
Just an idea btw
@@yolo571 Brave man lol. Tasery type stuff would be an idea under water subject to different parameters shall we say. But we're now going to get "water and electric don't mix!", "buhhh it'll kill the diver!", "would that even work underwater". Brace for the physicists my good man.
Australia has/had a couple of underwater combat firearms but they arent used much if at all.
