When I first saw the trailer I said there can not have been any black writers in the room when this script was put together. This is too offensive to any intelligent black person to give a pass. Then in this video I'm informed that it was CREATED by black creators .... I'm Effin' speachless! AND I'm even more disappointed with the voice actors like Jay Pharoah, JB Smooth, and Wanda Sykes. I understand things are hard in Hollywood right now and I'm not trying to be hating on any actors getting a paycheck while and when you can but how can you sleep at night attaching your name and brand to this project. SMFH 😑

I grew up watching the original, and THIS IS THE REBOOT? NAAAAAAHHHH! No thanks, I'm good...
i grew up watching the original and this trailer makes me equal parts sad and angry. John Amos was an amazing man and this show has no right being tied to his work in any way
I'm old enough to know/have watched the original and this is a sad remake... It might be funny but it's also a slap in the face..

When I first heard about this, it was 9th Wonder on IG announcing he’d be scoring the soundtrack. My first reaction was “why does it have the same name as the show from the 70’s?…..oh….Nope, nope, nope!” I wanted no parts of it because I didn’t understand what why and who. What could this be about? Why would they pick THIS show to turn into a cartoon? & Who is the target audience? I then caught wind of the negative press so i watched the trailer and saw norm, Seth & Steph. Still a hard pass but I didn’t think it was really real. Once I saw it go viral, I hoped they’d cancel it. It got released and I’m yet to watch an episode. We know what’s up if a season 2 gets greenlit.
This hurts everyone involved 😭. The target audience is black ppl, and they really missed their mark.

I watched 5 episodes and reviewed them on my Twitter. It's as unfunny, dated, and degrading as you think it is. Yvette Nicole Brown one of the voice actors blocked me on Twitter when I gave her some feedback on the show.

The difference between The PJs and Good Times is The PJs poked harmless fun at the cultural aspects of the black community living in the projects, And this cartoon exploits it in the worst way.
I feel like this being made by all black creators makes you unable to call it full of stereotypes. Your aloud not to like something and it not be against a whole group of people you belong to.

It was "made" by black creators the same way a manager "runs" a business. The higher ups signed off on these racist stereotypes, and they don't look like us!

I've been re-watching Good Times for the past year, and can't get enough! I enjoyed the show as a kid, and now am really appreciating the finer storylines, as well as finding it funnier than ever. ... I was as appalled as you looked. ... I'm speechless, except to totally agree with you. Whatever that was, is the complete opposite of Good Times. I was really willing to bend the rules for an updated version, but that's some kind of awful joke. Did I see Norman Lear's name somewhere in that intro, like wtaf?
That's the name I keep hearing "Lear" apparently he's no good. I feel bad for the actors involved in this, this is a bad stamp on their resume 😂. I'll probably watch the original to get this out my mind lol
You was on point when you said they merged Pj's in the Projects and Boondocks. And although they were funny then, Hood culture has got to clean up so this type of show would only appeal to people that have no goals.
Thanks willdot! In the past 4-5 years I've seen more and more ppl in our community talk about fixing and breaking cycles. This doesn't help at all! It's just showing others that we (as a community) are still in this 90s super Predator mindstate, and that not the case for most of us. Loved the comment ❣️
@@screenzenreviews Tru Tru. I made it out the hood with a different mind set and just hope my family and friends get the hood mentality out of their system and join me. Impressing each other with drip and garbage music but don't put money in savings to have a better future makes ZERO sense to me and all it took was for me to have a daughter and want her to have a better life and understanding than me. They making a mockery of black people, I have served in the Army and went to combat with good black people and even my career now, every black person there is top notch professional. The hood has no color. A white woman's food stamps don't carry more weight than a black woman's food stamps, and where I am from the projects and trailer parks are on every block in most neighborhoods. I am mixed so my opinion prolly don't matter.

I don’t think he was an active participant, since Good Times was his creation they have to acknowledge him ,just like anything that has the title Star Trek has to acknowledge Gene Roddenberry as the creator of the original

I have seen the trailer a couple of times and this is a complete NO WATCH for me. When they went to “drug dealing baby” that sent me out. It’s filed with more stereotypes than the TV show it’s supposed to be kind of based on. Shame on the Black performers who signed on for this. 🙄😡

This is not good Times .
At the time the original Good Times series was made it was made at least in part to make Society aware of prominent social issues that were prevalent in the Inner City Community, a black folks. This cartoonish show, to me, is more like Minstrelsy and buffoonery! it is an insult to those audiences, who watched the original series up and the intentions of the original series, which was to invite people about what it meant to live in the Inner City.
I was reminded of the later Cosby show, showing successful black families. Good times was more inspirational. No mater what happened they had the family. 📺
i watched half of the first episode that was about all i could take nothing like the original as someone who was very young and watching the original when it first aired this show here is complete GARBAGE!

This show is not fine , after decades we still can’t have shows depicting all blacks live in a poor area and act like this , this thought that all blacks walk around saying “N” this or that is false but the world see this as us and they some how got black writers to do this !,! There is no hope
This is an insult to the original and imo shouldn't exist in any form. The original was about a poor but proud black family who pushed through whatever 1970s life threw at them. They where charismatic, funny and relatable. It was an honest look at many issues they faced sadly due to them being black and often how much easier it was for those with money. I loved their show each week, they made me laugh so hard. But it was a product of it's time. If they where to redo it now, even with every original cast member as a real sitcom it wouldn't work. It wouldn't have worked in the 1980s or 90s either. Because it was a look at issues of the 1970s and Jay Jays "dynamite!" Was feeling faded by the end of the decade. It's a lot like trying to do "all in the family" today. It's a classic but that show was geared to the 70s like this one.
Absolutely! Yes its a product of its time, But what if they updated the characters to today's "standard" . Michael:BLM/ Politics. JJ:Artist/Hipster? etc..It can still be positive. I'm just glad not alot of ppl fell for this okey doke.
@@screenzenreviews personally I'd love to see a "facts of life" reboot but in today's world with all new characters. You can have a BLM girl, a bi sexual one, a UA-camr girl and one who always protests when womens rights are ignored. There is definitely a place as that older show is still very relevant to teens today. The new Micheal of today would definitely be at that protests. I have no doubt he would get things done as well. He would be a great judge.
