By far the most difficult cover song I have ever recorded and sung.

‘Cactus Tree’ is probably my favorite Joni Mitchell song, together with ‘Little Green’. I’m always quite mesmerized by Joni Mitchell. She plays the guitar so elegantly, writes very emotional and poignant lyrics, telling your life story to you personally, I feel. Sometimes these great songwriters write about emotions or hardship so well and universal that I, the listener, feels listened to.
Well, combine this with the absolute angel like voice that she has, and you listen to a pretty impressive artist.
I think this song is about traveling, meeting people, romantic relationships, and the running away of emotions and pain. It’s a song about avoidance and growth. And every time I hear it, I hear something new.
