Do you charge a flat rate to diagnose a problem or do you bill at your hourly rate? Just started my business and trying to figure out the best way to charge for diagnostics to be fare to the customer and not have me waste too much un billable time. Been loving the content.👍🏿
@kyleheron316 Thank you for watching and for the kind words. Great question. Billing time for diagnostics... it's a touchy subject! Customer is paying with nothing to show for it, unless you find the problem . Owning a business and having some un billable time is to be expected. (Paperwork, waiting for parts, cleaning up, answering phone calls etc.). What you need to do is crunch numbers, factor in your expenses and how much you need to survive and charge accordingly. It's sad to say but there are no friends in business. Being mobile and in Ontario's rust belt, I have a ton of expenses that quite literally cost an insane amount of money. Remember if you are any good at what you do, or provide an exceptional service you should have no problem sending a justifiable, expensive invoice to your customer. Calling around to different shops around town anonymously asking for rates help too! I do offer a flat rate but usually it's applied if I have 1-2 hour or less. (Burnt fuse, easily found problem). This is usually determined mid way through the service call. I'm upfront on my rates and to be fair I had to eat a few misdiagnosis's. Just judge them up, use it to your benefit and learn from it! Keep posting great content. Diagnosed a bad TCCM on Chevy 2500 HD that is not sending 5 volt ref to the encoder circuit and tomorrow AM need to build an overlay harness for a Cat 226D3 skidsteer that has a broken charge air cooler temp sensor signal return wire.
Great Job sir I'm not going to lie back in the day I would see a Emission code I would just say delete it now I kind understand the DPF SCR EGR I have friends that work in the Ford dealer that I ask for help but it's better to fix the problem the correct way.
@@darrenbrennan2400 thanks for reaching out. This is a pretty expensive sensor, I wouldn't guess . You can join my discord sever where we can chat more discord.gg/Ca7FTsVb

I have the same code, but the fuse is not blowing should I just go ahead and replace the sensor?
